  • KiCad is an open source schematic capture and PCB (printed circuit board) design software application. It also comes packaged with a SPICE simulator to give the user a graphical interface to ngspice. The simulator in KiCad does not support the .op statement to get the DC operating point of a circuit. In a lot of cases, this is fine and you can just use a .tran statement to get the operating point. This video walks through how to do this with a very simple circuit.
For more about circuits, including more about SPICE simulators, check out:

which includes introductory circuits courses based around the free and open source text book - Lessons in Electric Circuits by Tony Kuphaldt.

    Me too I want my reward! :) :) :)
    No kidding, very helpful indeed.
I just started from Windows' LTSpice and am surprised about the versatility of this thing and how easy it is to learn to operate it with the help of a few youtube videos.
I just learned from the NumatoLab (did I write that right?) videos how to draw a schematic and make it into a gerber file, and there he stopped. This simulation thing is a nice completion of my 2 hours course into KiCad.
    Thanks.

Thanks that was helpful. Not sure which version of KiCad you are using, but my simulator is under inspect in the menu.
