    It's awesome how Boss are still producing the DD-3 and are innovating on that platform.

    • @pCeLobster
      @pCeLobster 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And it's always been the best sounding of the DD's. That's why they keep it around, there's something different about it. I mean the DD-8 is only $20 more and has way more features, yet the DD-3T still sells.

    I got the DD3T and the pearl color is something I never noticed before. Simple delay but absolutely perfect in musical contexts. I like a digital delay, that way I can get a wet signal and not have to worry about my delay disappearing

    The original DD-3 was an analog board using a large digital chip for the repeats which were repeated and not sampled and repeated like most modern digital delays. The DD-3 is pretty warm sounding for digital delay and actually oscillates which is great fun. The modern units don’t do this and sound artificial. I used the DD-3 from 1993 to 2011 when I bought a Boss DM-3 Analog Delay, now I’ve two MXR carbon copies and a Maxon AD-9 Pro. I also have the DD-6 which I never used as it’s too cold. The original DD-3 is the one to go for, but later versions have the cheaper PCB and smaller chip and sound icy! The repeats are important and the less perfect the better, as modern DDs sound like a repeated sample which is what they do!

    Wow, I need a DD8! I love Boss delays. I have many of them and one thing I love about the DD3 is that you can do traditional rock, country and blues stuff with it if you like, but you can also do weird, glitchy experimental noise stuff with the hold feature. I also love using it to thicken my bass tone on my bass rig.

    • @JacksonBrooksby
      @JacksonBrooksby  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The DD3 is amazing! Always looking for a vintage Japanese one with the long chip

    • @mrt77wv
      @mrt77wv 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JacksonBrooksby Have you looked into the DSD-2? They predated the DD3 and are supposed to be the same circuit as the DD2. Not sure if those had the long chip or not. But you can get them used for a reasonable price.

    • @JacksonBrooksby
      @JacksonBrooksby  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes mate on the look out for one of those too. I'm 99% sure they had the long chip in them too but had a loop function instead of a hold if I'm right?

  • @donaldharris8826

    This demos all over the place. You are demoing one pedal and adding others into the mix which takes away from the Boss Delay Pedals . Split the screen between you playing guitar while you are simultaneously demoing the pedals features. I just got the Boss DD 200 and man it is feature loaded and usable . Stack pedals and tap tempos !!! 😁 I still use my 20 year old DigiTech Delay also as well as Behringer pedals. I never had one get stomped to death yet or guit working. The only pedal that ever quit working on me was practicing on an DigiTech AutoWah pedal. There is lots of GR8T gear out there just as there is junk and junk to me is someone else's treasure. I stack delay pedals together and add in the tap tempo if the stop box does not have one built in or a if a Multi-Effects pedal does not have a tap tempo or looper feature. Get the effects loops and expression / volume pedals where applicable to use with effects. The parameters and settings are just amazing, especially when you add in synthesizer modulation Effects Pedals . Boss has the Boss MD 200 modulation pedal and Boss OD drive pedal. I love these pedals but then there are so many brands to check out. As a suggestion, call a gear dealer and ask if you can bring your guitar, cables and amp when you go to check gear out ! ! !
    Peace & Play 🎸 On . . . 😎🤘DDHarris 1-4-2020.

    So which Boss Delay would better be best used for a person who just wants some regular delay and to hook up to my mic for some last word playback effect. (I already have a RC1 for looping capabilities so I feel the DD8 wouldn't be a necessary option for me since it cant be ran at the same time)

    Hi there!
    My problem with the dd-8 seems to be finding my way of setting and changing subdivisions WITH MY FOOT... So I need to know :
    => if i can use the external Footswitch, to tab in a subdivision (e.g. dotted 8th)?
    => can i do this while i play, without holding for 2 sec first?
    => can i, by this method, change subdivisions, while playing, by just physically tabbing in their different rythmical signatures (e.g. the "1-2-123" or alternatively the "1-2-3-4-1-234" for the dotted 8th...) at any time? Like, just how Antoine shows it here, @ 01:40m: th-cam.com/video/X6483Aq8nfQ/w-d-xo.html
    I would be grateful for a an informed answer from someone who actually did this...
    thanxalot^^

      @Neon Thunderbird ha ha yeeeah! I rememer my plan B was to get the flashback II and "prolong" the division flip-switch in a way that would allow me to switch it by foot^^. oh Well^^. But the dd-7 might just suit you ?

    • @levieuxjurassien1665
      @levieuxjurassien1665 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Neon Thunderbird well you see, while i was thinking about that flashback-II thing i did not buy it because A: it does NOT have tab tempo, B: ima hopeless boss fan and C: i´m too konservative for that "mash"-nonsense. BUT: that thing has one thing going for itself: Namely the option to put in FOUR different kinds of Reverse Delay, three of which you can fumble around with the parameters of tweak-knop-response to them using the software side of that pedal. THAT was actually my plan back then (before the DD-8 unexpectedly taught me what a big shimmer-mode fan i am also^^.). Like, i just LOVE reverse Delay sounds!!. But maaaan. If you already have the RE-20 AND the walrus.... Anyway^^ take care and have fun!!^^°°

    No text on what mode the pedals are in. Incoherent noodling that all sounds bad with delay. Don't play scales with delay! It sounds terrible. Just try playing any two consecutive notes of a scale at the same time. Delay is better suited to arpeggios unless you have the effect level way down kinda like a reverb. Not a useful review at all, in my opinion.
