B movies tend to have not as good acting but better plots and scares. Jumpscares does not equal horror. Something really horrifying leaves an impact on you after the movie is over and leaves you guessing and thinking about it. That is horror, and that is something that is long gone today.

Not an over-amped CG gorefest. Not a jumpscare flop-camera found-footage mess. This is a VERY CREEPY horror film. Amazingly good. A decent number of shock/scares using old-fashioned makeup effects. The original plot shows the house unchanged - with those weird eye-windows. Demonic evil did possess the DeFeo killer and hasn't left the place yet. Eerie atmosphere builds tension up to a pretty good finale. For adults or older teens (no young kids) who like real HORROR flicks. What a pleasure!

Just watched it. I am skeptical of horror movies, and can be quite dismissive, but lately I have just been going into these movies with an open mind. This movie was actually pretty solid. Not amazing, but not bad. It's a pretty creepy movie, especially the brother. A little different plot. I actually liked it.

I've seen the house from the outside several years ago when I was living one town west of Amityville. Looks like any other house in the area (canal behind the house as well as other houses on that block) but only difference was that it didn't have a number on it that I could see. The curtains were all closed too at the time I saw the house. Privacy reasons I would think.

This movie is original and amazing, the actor is so brilliant, he plays so well. It’s hard role and not that easy to transfert this kind of emotions but he is just as I said brilliant
ok I can understand how in the 80s, no one really knew about the Amityville haunting, so those movies were good. but come on, its 2015, how do you not know about that house that YOUR moving into.
People know and still move into it. There use to be a funeral home down the street from my house. Everyone know that it use to be a funeral home. Most recently they turned it into apartments, and a lot of people live there because it looks good inside. Some people are just crazy. My sister apartments is built over an old cemetery.

Agreed...these Amityville sequels/remakes, whatever you want to call them, get sillier and sillier with each film. I'm just going to stick to the first four "Amityville" films, which are, by far, the best ones in the series, in my opinion.

Just watched it. I am skeptical of horror movies, and can be quite dismissive, but lately I have just been going into these movies with an open mind. This movie was actually pretty solid. Not amazing, but not bad. It's a pretty creepy movie, especially the brother. A little different plot. I actually liked it.
What the hell?!! Why the hell has this movie been moved back AGAIN?! First it missed its original Spring 2015 premier, then after a YEAR of NOTHING with no explanation for WHY it suddenly disappeared off the movie radar for a YEAR after the first previews came out in theaters in Fall 2014, they recently announced that its FINALLY being released THIS year, and now they are saying its being pushed back AGAIN until NEXT year?? Why are they being so MEAN about releasing this movie so people can FINALLY watch it after making us wait TWO years since they first announced it? I want my Amityville Horror movie NOW.

I agree the remake they did with Ryan R, was just terrible. This doesn't look any better either. Will just stick with the original movie. Hollywood really need to stop remaking and just create something new. They can never beat the 1st.

+stan ford The Force has been awakened as you probably already know so why not the Amityville Horror House for the 110th time? I've seen the house from the outside several years ago when I was living one town west of Amityville. Looks like any other house in the area (canal behind the house as well as other houses on that block) but only difference was that it didn't have a number on it that I could see. The curtains were all closed too at the time I saw the house. Privacy reasons I would think.
