This is EXACTLY what my family has been waiting for - room for 4 people (me, husband, 2 kids), light enough to tow with our SUV so we don't have to buy a new vehicle, just enough for a weekend at the beach, national parks, or tailgaiting - it's perfect for us! Except the price 😭 Hoping more budget friendly brands (Wolf Pup, Jayco) will make something like this!
I agree - I've been shopping lightweight campers with wetbaths lately and this has the most useable space being able to leave the table setup while sleeping on the bed above - large water tank, cassette toilet - bonus I can use it to haul some stuff. If price was 10k lower. Power jacks should come off (weight/price) and make a screen for the rear, dual 20lb LP with hardline to rear/side area for outdoor grill. Compost toilet on the other model they are making with shower recycler I hope.
Insane cost. Seems like it could compete with the Intech market but not for that price. You’d have to add a lot more features to justify that. Now when another brand copies it at a reasonable price I’ll be first in line to buy!
Two thoughts. One for Winnebago, a drain plug at the bottom of the wheel well box could be really useful. One for you, especially on these smaller "toy hauler" type units. Throw a tape measure in there real quick. I'm sure Winnebago will give measurements but a real life kind of assessment would be great. I love these tiny units and seeing how they use space. My family of 8 need not apply but I like seeing the innovation.
Regardless of whether a particular model is right for me or not, I very much enjoy the entire category of “let’s do weird stuff with cargo space and cargo access doors and see what happens” trailers. I love seeing manufacturers experiment with that stuff, because it opens up so many opportunities for units to be used in multiple and non-traditional ways the designers may not have even thought of. That manual pull-down bed is also *awesome*. Things on the smaller end that ARE made for motorized toys and have crappy sleeping arrangements should absolutely consider adding that sucker. - several existing models in other brands (including ones much larger than this) would be revolutionized by that. The wheel-well storage boxes are a pretty cool idea. If you’re going with this style where wheels stick out, that’s a genius addition to a trailer that’s obviously very short on storage and uses “dead” space functionally. The fact that the side flips down into table/counter space is also wonderful - everyone talks about using griddles, but just a place to set a plate or glass or S’Mores fixings is a huge convenience.
They should make sure that the FLX package does not loose cargo carrying capacity. They should also add locks to the water fill and grey water flush. People do stupid things to other peoples stuff. Winnebago hit this out the park. This is for everybody. Great job. Top 5 contender!!!
I always come back and rewatch your videos. I appreciate the honest look. You highlight the positives and also hit on logical improvements that could potentially be made. Very well done. This is perfect for people that want to tow with a midsized suv, may want to haul a dirt bike or atv, and want to sleep 4 people/kids. Right up my alley.
It looks like something you want to go day camping over the weekend with. We like bathrooms. Hang a hammock in it for additional storage. A portable battery power supply would come in handy. A lot of TH-cam channels are promoting those.
I was liking this trailer until I saw the front rock panel was warped and the price they are asking for it. I don't think it's worth a dime over $12k. But hey, I'm cheap and cool with an air mattress in a utility trailer. Thanks for your videos, as always!
its madness to claim this costs 50 grand wtf is wrong with these people? 12k is a good price... I said not a dime over 10 and even thats pushing it for a box with a bed in it and a hose to shower yourself with.
Two things for you. First, you asked for how one might use a camper like this. It reminds me very much of some of the cargo-trailer conversions I've seen at race tracks like Road America. We spend our days watching races and our evenings around the campfire. Campers are for sleeping and getting in out of a heavy rain. For me, this would be perfect if my daughter allows me to take our grandson to the races when he's old enough. The cargo area looks large enough for an e-bike or two, maybe even a small golf cart. I would probably use the opened year doors as my kitchen when in camp, kind of like a tear drop. The only "problem" is the interior height is 6'5". So am I. But since I treat cammoing as mainly an outdoors event that's not much of a problem. I currently use a Ford Transit Connect with a blow-up mattress and the kitchen outside under and pop-up awning, so I'm not big on headroom. OK, that's enough of me helping with the sales pitch. Second, the CPAP thing. I use a 500 watt Jackery battery to power mine. Plugging it for overnight can suck up a lot of that battery so I use a solar panel to recharge during the day. I tried it without the humidifier and heated hose. That made things better. I also discovered that cold weather made power consumption higher. When I figured out that a lot of the energy was being consumed by the Inverter and its cooling fan I bought a 12volt connecter, the kind that fits into a "cigarette lighter" type of outlet. I now consume less than 10% of battery overnight instead of closer to 70%. If someone brings a blander then it's margaritas for all!
Neat little rig! Definitely needs some sort of screen wall for the back, maybe something with magnetic closure? With the batwing awning I can see the rear being just as functional for outside living as the side with main awning. Would like to see some sort of steps for the back, possibly something that uses the receiver hitch to mount.
Hi Josh, 3 years ago you and I used to talk about rv's and you'd answer my questions. But I lived in California and thought I'd never be able to give you any business. Well, my wife and I will be retiring to Texas about a half hour from one of your dealerships, so I will give them the best shot at the deal. Thank you Josh.
LOVE the flexibility! Thank you for the wardrobe! Love the bathroom, because you can always use a bathroom as a closet, but it’s difficult to take a shower in a storage space! Please consider Little Guy’s mini-max fridge!
Josh: 2:05 “Not for everybody”. You do have a way with understatement don’t you! This Winnebago Hike 100 1316SB screams niche market. Gave it the benefit of the doubt until you put the upper bed down. At 5:00 you lost wife and I. Where’s the ladder to get in and out of bed? Can you imagine getting out of that rack at 0300 to go to the head? I can and the image is not pretty. It may be the PERFECT trailer for someone but DEFINITELY not for everybody. Oh! You already said that. I agree. Q. WHAT DO WE EVEN CALL THIS THING? A. How about “End of year, discontinued model now on deep deep discount on sale at Bish's Coldwater” ?? 😁😁Respectfully, W.S.
I love these little campers and the double open door in the back on this one. I wish they would make a 28-30ft with bunk room with doors like this. Kind of a toy hauler without the weight and height of large toy haulers. For bikes or little Kids ATVs.
This is not the usual style that I look at but my dad would have loved something like this, so versatile. As I imagine how to use I'd get rid of m/w, takes up too much space (& weight), esp if no inverter. Might remove either one of the sofas or the overhead bed. They take up too much weight for their likely lack of use. That little pocket of space with the outlet, I'd put a small barrier (wood slat or elastic cord) at its entrance, then remove front panel, put a basket to hold misc stuff. I like the cassette toilet, easy maintenance. The dual purpose bathroom is good idea. My dad would have loved the exterior side boxes, but they don't look that secure (he was a welder, he could build a box!) so no tools, just misc, maybe quarts of oil, tie downs, or something. I've been wondering about the size of the propane tank since you mentioned it. Maybe because it doesn't have a gas cooktop, they figure that's all you'll need for heating? Does it have a cooker hooker? Very nice little unit ✔💚️😃🇨🇦
It's just great trailer, should be some sort of screen magnetic or velcro or maybe some sort of hard mesh wire thing so it can be left open overnight. One of those outside curtain shower would be nice and off course 270 degree awning.
I think it's pretty cool... Idk if it would work for me these days but about 10 years ago, I would have bought it in a heartbeat. Thanks for sharing Josh!
As a solo RVr, just about checks all the boxes for my needs. An articulating hitch would be great. And I most certainly would not have any need for the bunkbed.
Agree on the bug screen, but that could be added. If this were slightly longer such that I could get a motorcycle in there, I'd be a buyer. Seems like solid construction and great features. Just what I need for a solo track weekend/rally or solo boondock, but enough comforts that my wife would join for a beach weekend. I really like this but it looks a bit too short.
It certainly allows you to comfortably sit, & eat dinner, while enjoying a wide-open pretty view, agree. This model might also be nice for those creative people thinking about turning their capped pick-up truck, SUV or van into a weekend camper but don't have the time. (Albeit, more costly, yes.) Overall, really like the casual space flexibility & toughness of toy haulers, including this little one - it looks like fun! 👍☺️
Seems like it might be a small motorcycle toy hauler...they should put a hide away set of ramps underneath. I could see it hauling a dirt bike or dual sport bike.
@@JoshtheRVNerd just had another thought, reminds me alot of what folks do with cargo trailer conversions but more polished obviously. I would prefer maybe 2 feet longer and dry bath.
See, this one makes more sense. If they aren't going to give us a full outdoor kitchen like the other HIKE model you reviewed, this is a much better use of the space. Things I love: 1) bed/bunk configuration, great use of space for sleeping the fam. 2) those fender storage boxes are the 💩! 3) the batwing awning, fantastic option. 4) the panels on the back doors for multi-function storage and use 5) husband loves the cassette toilet instead of black tank for that. Things where they missed/wishlist 1) no screen for the back, come on!! Major missed opportunity. 2) would love an option to eliminate the microwave entirely for a bigger fridge swaption. Also, what does the upper bunk hold weight-wise??
With my family, I could see it being used in conjunction with a tent. Sleeping in the tent but having an 'indoor' space for inclement weather. And be able to fit some of our toys in it.
As a single woman with two cats, I LOVE this one! I'd use the top bed and I'm pretty spry yet but still wondering - do you have to hop up or is there a ladder?
We would use the benches and table like a dinette and use the pull down bed to sleep in at night. Never have to put away your bedding just push the bed against the ceiling.
Talking about things that I don’t need in a RV, I think a big ass stove is the most unnecessary thing in a RV. There is a super convenient alternative to it: Portable Butane Gas Stove, which costs only $40 bucks, saving tons of space! Why do you need a 3 burner stove in a compact camper? 😂 You can cook outside when it’s warm and cook with the portable gas stove in the camper when it’s cold or raining. However, you can never shower when it’s cold outside or raining outside. This makes the big stove the most unnecessary thing in an RV!🎉
If you have a smaller toy that you refuse to leave home without then this might be the perfect RV for you, but if not then a more traditional floorplan is far for comfortable and livable👍
Great video Josh. I see the potential for this trailer. I admit there might be better trailers for rock crawling. But someone who doesnt want to go that far off the beaten path. I dont also want to spend all my nights in a rv park or a Walmart parking lot. Some gravel roads and stuff are up my alley. Have a nice weekend
Like the versatility. Always thought it might be interesting to take a bunkhouse layout and make a half garage in place of the bunks. For those who just need space for a single motorcycle.
It's a super picnic party in a box! Load up your tables, chairs, and a pavilion tent or two, and head out into the middle of nowhere with a bunch of friends to have a weekend of fun! It's like a cargo trailer with a kitchenette. Ember tastes on a Winnebago budget. That was the first thing I thought when I saw the bathroom sink, that it'd be perfect for holding stuff! I saw curtain hooks inside the bathroom door, does that mean we would need to add curtains if we want to shower in there, or would the bathroom door fill that role just fine? I would definitely love to see an FX version of this. You mentioned holding tank heaters, is this one 0-100/110 rated? Nice find, Uncle Josh, these are kinda neat!
I really like it, great amenities, off rd. Capable, body protection kit, very functional, & attractive design . I'd pay extra for a comprehensive , Arctic Package !
Personally, I think the $50k MSRP is nuts for something like this. Sure it has a lot in a medium size package, but it is priced too close to the Black Series, Ember and other trailers for me to take this thing seriously as an off-road trailer. It has a very clever floor plan and I love the "toy hauler'ish" doors but you pay for "off-road" features in something that I do not believe to be a lot better than similar off-road packages from Geo Pro. I agree, I think this is for the casual trail down by the lake. Not the "overland" type of trailer from the more hardcore brands, yet they make it LOOK like it is on the outside. My suggestion, strip some of the off-road appearance features to get this priced closer to a Geo Pro and they have a solid trailer offering in a unique floorplan. Really this goes for the whole hike 100 series. I just can't get past their $50k MSRP. The Bish's asking price should be the MSRP and then some wiggle room to negotiate from there. For $50k it SHOULD have an inverter for example but instead it has faux off-road items. The other consideration for them to think of is to bring their creativity into something even smaller and compete with the NoBo 10.6 and I think they can REALLY bring something new to the table. Basically chop off the sink/fridge/toilet part of the trailer and where the shower is, they can get creative with what to put there. Cabinets, toilet, sink, whatever but the best thing about this thing is the bunk bed, dinette and toy hauler door.
Probably the best/roomiest wet bath I've seen. Not thrilled with the layout overall tho. Anyway out of the many rv reviews I watch, Josh is definitely the funniest and most entertaining host/ reviewer. Keep it up buddy very informative helpful and entertaining videos
One could add solar panels on the roof using the exoskeleton with little crafting. They need a sturdy frame not necessarily mounted to the roof directly.
With the amount of weight I’d stick with an actual toy hauler. Something along the lines of the Forest River FSX 190 RTX. If this one were about 1000 lbs lighter & had a ramp in the back it may be more appealing.
Suggestion for potential buyers of this product. The purchase and use of a small power station--i.e. Yeti--could eliminate the problem of extra inverted power necessity. The Yeti, or its like, could be recharged during the day by the roof panel by simple trickle charge or by a portable solar panel that plugs straight iinto it. The user could then use the power station for all inverted needs and not concern themselves with what's on the roof so much. just a thought.
its nice for what it is. like a compact base camper. i would say 4 people max though , unless if 2 was to sleep on the floor if the outside was extremely bad weather. not counting the white water kayaks the smallest i have seen is 8ft. it may fit better on the outside or on the truck/suv. just my thoughts. good vid
Sal (the theater seat guy) eh, not a bad little camper. I understand the small toilet but I'm not thrilled with a cassette toilet. Hey for a screen for the back door, how about purchasing a garage screen and fit it to size? Just a thought.
I like it. I was wondering if it had an external portable solar panel hook-up that could work in conjunction with the 200w it comes with thus mitigate the need for an additional rooftop panel there's no room for and avoid the additional expense of the is it FLX model??
This is a very creative and versatile coach. Great for outdoorsmen. A magnetic net screen in the back will be great. It would be great for a fishing trip of carrying 2 eBikes. Good idea the floating table. Does an 8Ft wide will help the rear benches to be a comfortable double seating area to gather with friends and family? Love the closet/hanging clothing area but it will be better with at least two removable shelves. The ones in the bathroom will not necessarily work for everybody. An outside shower is always necessary. Maybe a generator base like the Northwood trailers? It is NW right? Does the propane is for heating only or does it have a quick connect hook-up outside? For me, it would be perfect if; 1. Better if it has 50 gals of fresh water. 2. A longer version for more storage, to accommodate my 16ft fishing kayak 3. I would prefer the FLX version with the biggest solar package I can get. 4. 10.7 CuFt 12V fridge. 5. Showermizer? Should be standard 6. Shower caddy like the Rockwood Mini Lites 7. Middle lane tiedowns? 8. How much higher it needs to be to accommodate a 6ft person (like 85 pct of the people) in the shower? 9. Concur with the two propane tanks. 40 vs 60 tanks.
Exactly what I’ve been looking for. Don’t like the cassette toilet. Keep it simple for the back country and cross country trips. Just a little high on the price. That’s the Winnebago premium price that hurts.
Great little camper. It wouldn't have taken much to turn it into a true toy hauler. Would have been great for people like my Wife and I who has a motorcycle and a small SUV.
This little guy's not my cup of tea 😁😁 but I do like quite a bit of Winnebago's line-up kudos for Winnebago for trying out something less traditional 👍👍👍👍👍
Well praise the Lord and milk and cookies! They at least put the microwave at a decent level so it is more a bonus for everyone to be able to access the thing.
You're right, it's an interesting layout, but not for everyone. I can see this working out for someone who likes to spend their time outside and would use this unit as a basecamp, but I think this would be a difficult unit to live in. I believe that portable induction cooker you had outside would also go on that pullout shelf in the kitchen, otherwise you would have no stove in the kitchen. The complete lack of counter space in the inside kitchen would make this a difficult one to use. The lack of exterior storage means all the stuff would have to be stacked inside for transit........which may or may not work for you. I also think the lack of propane stove/fridge would be a problem if you took this unit off grid if you did not get it equipped with good solar and inverter.....................or you'll bring along your own outside camp kitchen and a generator. I have yet to understand why units that are supposed to go off grid often seem to be equipped with an oven that requires 120V rather then a propane oven. I realize they have a limited space to work with here, but I have to ask...........did the person who designed this actually take it out and camp in it?
50k they’re nuts!
Love the way it comes looking like it’s pre-delaminating in the front ! Very rustic feature that I don’t understand why more manufactures don’t do
Yeah. Wonder what's up with that. For that price, you'd think it would be a little higher quality.
The very first thing that we all saw but I’m very surprised that Josh didn’t notice or mention it😕

It’s kinda cool. Would be good for one person with a motorcycle. My only thing would be ramps to get the bike in and out.
I would use that hanger to put up a shower curtain liner to keep the toilet seat and the shelves behind it dry
That’s a great idea!
another ham radio shack on wheels. lol . this is too fun
POTAmobile!
I love it. Great review. Thanks!
Ty!!
Thx :)
Those wheelwell cover/boxes are awesome!
And I thought for sure there was space on the roof for a tent.
Ember has a whole rooftop tent thing coming out! I'm eager to see the new version
Seems like it might be a small motorcycle toy hauler...they should put a hide away set of ramps underneath. I could see it hauling a dirt bike or dual sport bike.
Love that idea!
Things I love:
1) bed/bunk configuration, great use of space for sleeping the fam.
2) those fender storage boxes are the 💩!
3) the batwing awning, fantastic option.
4) the panels on the back doors for multi-function storage and use
5) husband loves the cassette toilet instead of black tank for that.
Things where they missed/wishlist
1) no screen for the back, come on!! Major missed opportunity.
2) would love an option to eliminate the microwave entirely for a bigger fridge swaption.
Also, what does the upper bunk hold weight-wise??
Not sure on that upper bed weight limit. Didn't see a sticker for it
Our team can certainly get that verified of course
I was told a measly 300 lbs. from a Winnebago rep via email. Seems awful low.
What are the water heater and furnace on this unit?
Water heater is gas/elec
Furnace is propane
With my family, I could see it being used in conjunction with a tent. Sleeping in the tent but having an 'indoor' space for inclement weather. And be able to fit some of our toys in it.
I could totally see that too!
Awesome versatile little camper 👍👌
It really is!
That’s a really cool trailer. Would have been so much better with a ramp and patio function with screen.
I can see taking out the lower benches and putting in theater seating and a televator cabinet.
👍🏻
Neat little guy, no not you Nerd. lol. I like the bed situation. I think the bathroom is a nice touch.
Thx Chris!
I am 5 foot 0 inches tall. I think I really like The Winnebago Hike.
This is for me and my wife when we take the 2 seater atv out.
As a single woman with two cats, I LOVE this one! I'd use the top bed and I'm pretty spry yet but still wondering - do you have to hop up or is there a ladder?
You can see the ladder - it’s mounted on the driver side, near the front, not on the rear wall like most.
Love this video, your humor is on point!
Thank you!!
It makes sense!!
Electric level Jacks. Thats nice!
Yeah it still feels like "off pavement" camping -- not TRUE off roading.
Rock Crawling is a good way to describe it I think
It's very cool, but 30 plus thousand for a tiny trailer seems a bit much for me.
Like the versatility. Always thought it might be interesting to take a bunkhouse layout and make a half garage in place of the bunks. For those who just need space for a single motorcycle.
Kinda what wolf pack did here: bit.ly/3HjnKc9
Though obviously much much larger
Just picked mine yesterday!❤
Nice congrats! First rv?
I saw that in person it’s really nice
TY For sharing!
I don't believe they've weather tested these so I can't offer any promises there. Apologies
Towed behind a class b or c for more room
A 10 for its class IF it had a patio/ramp instead of barn doors. 😀
Probably the best/roomiest wet bath I've seen. Not thrilled with the layout overall tho. Anyway out of the many rv reviews I watch, Josh is definitely the funniest and most entertaining host/ reviewer. Keep it up buddy very informative helpful and entertaining videos
wow Thank you! very kind 😊😊
That would be good for my son and I to take a quad to the dunes.
One could add solar panels on the roof using the exoskeleton with little crafting. They need a sturdy frame not necessarily mounted to the roof directly.
I wondered about that actually
$50k+ sticker price?! $34K after being discounted?! No, just no. Simply not worth the price, even after being discounted.
At first I thought the flip down utility table was a doggie door LOL🤣 this is a great camper right here Slash toy hauler
TY Claudette
its nice for what it is. like a compact base camper. i would say 4 people max though , unless if 2 was to sleep on the floor if the outside was extremely bad weather. not counting the white water kayaks the smallest i have seen is 8ft. it may fit better on the outside or on the truck/suv. just my thoughts. good vid
I think that's super fair. TY
I like the versatility in this camper alot. The bunks and dining area is a cool use of space. I'm a little disappointed in the low cargo weight.
Sal (the theater seat guy) eh, not a bad little camper. I understand the small toilet but I'm not thrilled with a cassette toilet. Hey for a screen for the back door, how about purchasing a garage screen and fit it to size? Just a thought.
Love the screen idea!
Can the drop-down bunk be down while the rear bench seats are up?
Yep!
Chicken arms? You gonna whiz off the whole hen house with that compar-O!
Lol
I like it. I was wondering if it had an external portable solar panel hook-up that could work in conjunction with the 200w it comes with thus mitigate the need for an additional rooftop panel there's no room for and avoid the additional expense of the is it FLX model??
Yeah has a portable solar plug that can work along with the roof-stuff
Nice, just need to build a motorcycle ramp.
Fantastic 👍👍
☺ These seem to be getting a lot of looks again suddenly
I would prefer a ramp door on that particular camper
LoL..i like the comedy too
Ty!
For me, it would be perfect if;
1. Better if it has 50 gals of fresh water.
2. A longer version for more storage, to accommodate my 16ft fishing kayak
3. I would prefer the FLX version with the biggest solar package I can get.
4. 10.7 CuFt 12V fridge.
5. Showermizer? Should be standard
6. Shower caddy like the Rockwood Mini Lites
7. Middle lane tiedowns?
8. How much higher it needs to be to accommodate a 6ft person (like 85 pct of the people) in the shower?
9. Concur with the two propane tanks. 40 vs 60 tanks.
Love the magnet screen idea
Ooooh that tie downs idea is great too!!
Thanks for watching!
@@JoshtheRVNerd you're welcome Josh and Thank you for all your Hard work and dedication! 😊😊👍👍👍👍👍 this little baby's a cute little rig for someone.
Well praise the Lord and milk and cookies! They at least put the microwave at a decent level so it is more a bonus for everyone to be able to access the thing.
What are your thoughts on the plywood sidewalls rather than azdel?
I think this video will help m.th-cam.com/video/R8BE2f8bd5o/w-d-xo.html
Yeah cooktop can go in the kitchen shelf as well. Apologies I didn't demonstrate for you!
@@JoshtheRVNerd No Biggie, I always enjoy watching your videos just to see what is out there!
