I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole after falling the roof may not show hardly any damage. All campers are made cheap. It will leak!

I'm not sure how a rubber sheet would leak after falling over

I like to drain our water heater and bypass it so no antifreeze goes into it; it seems like it takes a couple of weeks of camping the following spring to get rid of the taste. Great video.

Considering the amount of damage that could have resulted from falling off the trailer,it was fairly light and easily fixable. Great buy and definitely video the repairs.

Those things are made cheaply. Unless the skin was removed, or it was checked to the "stud" level. he has no idea the damage it suffered. And likely won't care. They frame them with 1x1s a lot of times. Soft woods too. Any roof leak means you likely have deep mold in it.

Damn bro that was a great video. I liked how you kept yourself pretty calm and head on your shoulders.
I wound have been curled up in a ball crying on the dirt ground for about 2 hours then I’d walk around pacing wondering how I’m going to explain it to my wife. Then I would have called a mobile crane guy and over pay him to get it upright. Then hire someone tomorrow to charge me way too much to transport it to my house. Then avoid eye contact with my family for a few weeks and one day go inside it and think about getting it ready for sale. 😂❤

That ratchet strap that caught on the left fender of the trailer while you pulled the camper the rest of the way upright likely saved it from bouncing off the right side after touchdown. It also pulled the crushed fender up and off the tires too. I would claim that was your plan since it worked out perfectly. ;-)

I wanted to comment on the Shadow Cruiser, you have on your pickup. I had three of them, 2 truck mounts and one fifth wheel. I loved those units, they were absolutely great. And like everything, that is made great, they sell out to another company, and either it turns into junk, or just plain disappears.

Should be fixable. Check the roof for leaks make sure to seal it good. The rest is cosmetic. I thought it would flip on the other side when you were righting it. Keep the door just put an 1/8 inch veneer of plywood over it stained to match.

  • @rodcraven3282

You need a tilt deck trailer, that way the camper could have stayed level and the deck can come slowly down as the camper is winched on. The front end of the camper was too high causing it to be unstable as you were winching it on. Got lucky there wasn't any more damage.

I'm not a huge 'truck camper' fan but, I will say, good on Palomino(Forest River, isn't it?)... even while still laying on its side, sort of, I couldn't see any twist to the frame/structure. The interior/jack damage, can't be laid on them(that's all you. lol).
That said.. open gate.. no one around.. locking up without verifying no one was in the compound.. letting folks maybe get injured with no supervision/assistance, etc, etc.
ANYONE could have driven in, loaded up, and stolen your camper, or any other unit present.
They are simply LUCKY, that you weren't injured.

You got a good score. Thats awesome. Glad you won that bid. Sucks theyre so light n front heavy otherwise that turn would a been better. But who would a rmthought that could ever happen. This is why id like to build my own. But i like them light n i like a longer bed. Simple accident i would tied down after i got thru the gates too. Who would a ever thought they tip that easy. I read about them all the time. But i never would a thought. It happens at least its all cosmetic damage. My rv has some too from a tree. From previous owners but it doesnt leak or anything it just looks bad if you notice it. Tookna corner once too fast on a side rd n hit some small dandy gravel where someone else must a hit n almost wiped the 30 ftr out. Scared me iw wasn't going that fast but the tires i dont like. I pumped rhe breaks n stopped it. But i felt her lean she could a rolled. She is also top heavy but very light in the top of that makes sence n can roll easy. When its windy i prefer not to drove her all that fast or far. But shes still alive n kickin. Im about to redo her this spring. Weird part is all my heay stiff is on the one side. Fridge water sewer. Its strange. Ya think they would a thought of that. I think all the 89s n older were built like that and built very thin walls. Now im looking for a camper. The price of that one is awesome id never buy one unless i found one that cheap but i will builf my own. Shes beauty. Huge bed on her looks lie a king bed ❤ Glad you made it home. Hope it easnt too windy on the way home. Best flip ever ❤

I thought the same but it was already up on the trailer bed when it fell off, the camera was "turned off" at a very convenient time right as it fell over, my guess is that he accidentally tipped it over with the trolley jack that he had under the front end and he edited that bit out of the video.

Oh man, what a bummer with the tip-over. That's a real big job, loading and re-loading with one person.

Thought the water heater was to be drained, then bypassed when winterizing.

These on demand units don't have a tank and need to be winterized like the rest of the system

Hey...🤔 Maybe you should CREATE A "JIG" of sorts (like with some 4x4s for strength AND MAINLY STABILITY, maybe the height of that lil bottom section that fits in between fenderwells on truck bed, that u can slide into place horizontally and lock down like with a steel pin or something, once u establish the Width of camper, that way it will give you a helping hand keeping it from going sideways on you...💁‍♀️🤔 just a thought..since u seem like a "McGyver kinda guy!" 😃👍🏽 Good luck and PLEASE STAY SAFE so we can continue watching ur videos. Very informative 👏

I'm wondering if your tanks were still full of water? That's why it was so heavy on that side

Almost a blessing the other stuff was missing (microwave, house battery etc.), those 40lb jacks could have done a lot more damage had those items been in the unit. You got lucky.

be glad the fridge was not in it or it wld have really damaged the port side of the unit. Those fridges are barely fastened in the hole.

Watched to see how it happened but of course it was cut out. Once it was up all you needed was a sheet of plywood under it. Why still using the jack in the front?

Have you considered putting broom sticks or dowels underneath the camper so they roll as you drag it instead of fence posts?

Putting a 3/4 inch thick, 4'x8' foot sheet of plywood on your 4"x4" posts would give you much more stability while pulling it up.
