I think the biggest things is not comparing yourself or your own build to people or streamers that have the time to grind out 16 hours a day every day. Also accepting the fact that some skills just are in a place to do Ubers or particular content when others are not. I feel like you still learn something from every build whether it’s a success or failure. Take the plunge learn from it if you fail and eventually you’ll stumble across something great! there is so many interesting interactions and so many things that are potentially broken or haven’t been thought of yet but people don’t take enough time to get creative and instead they decide to be meta slaves.
dude, you just changed the way I play this game. I cannot believe I never realized you could do this. I always go to ninja and see the end build, have no idea how to level to that and then play some TH-cam personality's builds.
Yeah using the time machine function in ninja is incredibly useful. :) I love just finding someone that got a great end result and then working my way back in the time machine and starting from there to figure out what to prioritize.

These tips are really good! It's great to see a video on general build creation, instead of hyper focusing on the meta or what the strongest skill to use will be. Not a lot of videos out there on the topic. I think the most important thing in this video is using poe.ninja as a way to get inspiration. Generally when I try making a build the hardest part I have is getting started, and using what other people have done in the past as a general guide helps with that issue so much. It's much easier to start with a skeleton already made and just fine tune things how you see fit. Great video as always from Schwingy.

Another good way to start anything u want is to rush blight maps for early currency. Since u can literally do blight naked it really doesn’t matter if your current build sucks and u can make enough money to basically get anything going.
As a person who doesn't have enough time to play hours a day anymore and still doesn't play trade. It just feels better to do a good league start build and off hand your planned builds gems, so they level as you go. It just feels bad being stuck in campaign for 6 - 8 hours instead of just 3 - 4. You can get a build going way faster in maps, by just grabbing a few good drops/essence and swapping over to your leveled gems. You still want a league start build that is close to your planned build passive tree wise (like toxic rain shadow and swapping to a poison build later) just to avoid respec requirements. I really wish they would add more skills that provide the attack and move play style, since some classes seem forced into specific trees/skills at the start of the league. In all honesty it just doesn't make sense time wise to play feel bad skills while leveling.
That's a totally fair and valid take on leaguestarters and I can vouch for this if you value your time more than anything (which is perfectly reasonable!) I've often leaguestarted as a specific class so that I can respec into whatever I actually wanna play later on (assuming it's something that requires much higher investment).
A lot of it has to do with the skill gem's tags and scaling those on the tree and then discovering or learning about fun unique item and passive interactions that work well together to drastically augment your damage. Poe is absolutely a knowledge game, so just browsing high DPS builds on poe.ninja and taking notes on common uniques can be a great help in the long run.

Trade is absolutely an accelerator and that's okay! I usually don't play SSF, and when I do, I eventually convert to trade anyways.

Personaly i start with builds i want 1-2 per league and max IT somehow , dont like meta starters
