The ramp you went down towards the end of the video and got to the end where it is flooded that is the old baggage tunnel. It was used to take passenger baggage from the main terminal to the train platforms. There is also a kitchen down there where they used to cook meals for the passengers on the train.
Do you think FoMoCo might want to restore this place like in Detroit...? I seriously doubt it, but what about GM since they moved out of the Ren-Cen again in Detroit. God knows they have to keep up with Ford. Excellent video guys!!!
This station is NOT abandoned. It is in the process of being restored. The restoration is being funded by the State of New York and has been ongoing for a decade now.
I think a LRT expansion might have a stop at or near Buffalo Central so maybe in the future they can close the pathetic shed of a station near downtown and bring the old station to life
Its not completely abandon. The main building is still in use for events. They also just got money to fix it up. The guy that bought it after it closed. Destroyed the place and sold off alot of things from there and he wasnt supposed to. Wish it was still in good condition. Just thimk, the early 90s is was still in fairly good state. But not maintaining it, thats what happens unfortunately. If i had the money id fix the whole thing but they are only fixing the main building. They also disconnected the platforms from the main building to allow freight to get through. They should of built the track around it. But thats just my opinion
A shit hole 45 years ago when it closed and even worse now. The neighborhood around the train station is one of the nations poorest, filthiest, crime ridden neighborhoods. Now the state is taking tax payer money and dumping $300 million into it. Such a waste!
I love old train stations.
Substantial building.
You will never see anything like this built again.
What an iconic PALACE, can't believe how HUGE it is.
