I think it's because everything past 9.0 (what's in the video) is in development. If you scroll down a bit, you can find and use the stable version of 9.0.
Thank you so much. I've been looking for hours for a working Wine tutorial. Like many other comments have said, just use the staging version if you can't find the stable one as it works perfectly fine. Also, if you get a pop up saying that the developer can't be identified, go into privacy & security, click on general and at the bottom it should say 'run anyway'. Thanks again!
This worked nicely, I could not find the stable version but went ahead with the staging version and it worked. Only thing you have to do it before running wine you have to allow the app from Privacy and settings otherwise your mac will identify this as an unauthorized developer
Excellent! I was dreading this, but you made it so simple, one improvement however, would be how to allow the app to be installed, if Mac won't allow it, simple fix, I had to search another video for that, but other than that, great vid
Hmmm.... the file opened at the end is not at all what I thought would open. I thought when you clicked on Notepad ++ the app would open. Instead, it looked like a plain text page opened. So, maybe this can be explained to me. This is video is basically my first introduction to Wine.
For those who are unable to open it as apple has not registered it as an identified developer or something, go to privacy and security in settings, scroll all the way down, there should be an option to open it anyway
Thanks this was a life saver! For anyone who sees this, it's under Security -> Allow applications downloaded from -> Change it to just 'App Store' and it should work!
where I can’t find it :( it js shows “allow applications downloaded from App Store or App Store and identified developers” mine is on the both and it isn’t working
@@joeljerome9909 if you scroll down to version 9.0, it should be there! It just takes scrolling for a minute loll - 9.7 kinda looks like the end of the page, but it goes all the way back down :) hope this helps!
I have downloaded the notepad++,followed the steps and able to open it once with the help of wine app. but later on I couldn't be able to open the notepad++ from desktop, can you please do one video for the continuation like where the app will be installed and how we can open it can you please provide the steps to open the installed notepad++ desktop app
PS When I right-click on a downloaded .exe file and attempt to open it with Wine Stable 9.0, it doesn't open either. Could someone explain why this is happening and help me out, please?
Thanks a lot, work nicley. only how can i get to program files and shortcut? It looks like if i closed app, i need to reinstal again. Or did i missed something?
I tried to install Steam through it, but it wouldn’t open like like only the steam free wine loader would come on my dog, but no steam application would open
guys, i figured out how to run the .exe after you install it when there is no shortcut, what i did was: go to applications folder, right click wine staging and show package contents then contents - resources - wine - bin - winefile This opens up the file manager which I could access the .exe file that I just installed by going to the program files. If anyone can tell me how to make a shortcut for my desktop, I would really appreciate it.
Someone mentioned to go to security and privacy, scroll down, go to where 'open wine' is mentioned and press 'open anyway. Can confirm it worked for me!
if you don't see the stable version, that's because the version is not ready for stable release yet. it is still in development. if you don't see the stable version, download the staging version.
I installed Wine and then installed Steam onto my Mac. It worked perfectly. however, after I close it, there is no way I can find to re-open the program again. Can someone help, PLEASE!
So I’m trying to use the New Super Ultimate Injector on MacOS and I found a work around but I still get a repeating error that says something of “this app isn’t found in the library .xml” any idea what that means?
No joy for me. Been trying to run FORScan from my MAC, first through WINE/UBUNTU and didn't work, then installed WINE per the above and whenever I click the desktop icon the MAC window (choose application to open program) appears. I'm prepping for a four month Overland trip and wanted the ability to troubleshoot/correct any error codes on my truck. I have an old Windows laptop but I was trying to get it to work on my MAC, my main laptop.

hi, the stable version seems to be disappearing from the page with your link, only the developer and staging version are available. Any solutions please
Scroll down the page and locate release 9.0, then locate Assets for 9.0 and click to expand. Stable dowload is right there. V9.1 and 9.2 do not have stable releases.
When I use Wine to run Notepadd, it does not open and I cannot install it. I've made installations on many different systems before, but I deleted them all, maybe that's why it doesn't work. What should I do please help
For those who couldnt find the stable version, i just downloaded the staging version ,and moved on. and it worked
There seems to be two staging versions though
I think it's because everything past 9.0 (what's in the video) is in development. If you scroll down a bit, you can find and use the stable version of 9.0.
Bro you gave the hope, appreciate your comment. Update: Everything works if you download the same pack as on the video 9.0 (Sonoma)
it didn't work for me :( neither did I find a stable version on that website
okay, but what you do with all the files? whats the next step after the uncompression?
Finally, a Wine "how to" video that makes sense. Good job. 👍
