So of course the MV starts with him practicing his wedding speech in a bathroom... and ends there, so the whole thing was a dream, but a subtle detail not everyone catches is that he has a white pocket square when he takes his speech out of his pocket... it's RED at the end of the video. You also immediately realized that she was not really there but was in his head. You are good, sir. I love the Red album vault tracks. I'm happy that she chose to make a video for this song. Blake Lively did a great job directing the video. Miles Teller was the "groom" and his new bride in the video is his wife and actress, Keleigh . She and Taylor have been friends for about 10 years.
Also, she says “do you have all the space that you need” as a call back to the line in We Are Never Getting Back Together (I’m not sure if you’ve listened to that one yet): “we hadn’t seen each other in a month when you said you needed space,” which is ALSO about Jake. The red scarf also represents Taylor’s virginity, and how Jake took it from her.

Great reaction to a great song and video. Her co-writer on the song, Lori McKenna, has talked about Taylor coming by her house between sold out shows at Gillette stadium on the Speak Now tour. McKenna said she mostly acted as a cheerleader and wrote the lyrics on her computer as Taylor was singing them and gave some input on whether the song should have a more country-folk or pop-rock sound. McKenna said she doesn’t know how Taylor does it - writing a new song between back to back stadium shows -joking “I can’t even play the Bluebird (legendary little Nashville music venue where Taylor was discovered) after I’ve written a song all day long.” The song didn’t make the original Red album but McKenna heard back from Taylor a decade later letting her know the song was coming out of the vault for the Red re-record.
It took me a few watches to notice it, but the groom (Miles Teller) keeps standing in front of what looks like a stained glass window, however when he's in front of it it looks like a halo, like he's a a Saint or a God (or that the guy in the song thinks of himself that way). And I hard agree - the vault tracks on Rep TV are going to be chaos and I'm here for it. And I'm so very hopeful for the lost Karma album that could possibly be a 90's rock vibe. There have been so many Easter eggs lately - I hope that we're not out here clowning for no reason.
Taylor's also dressed as a child and hanging out at the kids table at one point in the video because Jake was very dismissive of her due to her being so much younger than he was and treating her like a child.

Blake Lively (Gossip Girl, The Age of Adeline) directed this video. She’s married to Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, many Rom-Coms). Ryan and Blake are also very close with Taylor. In the Cardigan/Betty/August love trilogy on her “Folklore” album, Ryan and Blake’s real life children are named Betty, James and Inez, same names from the love trilogy. The children call Taylor “Auntie Tay” and they thought that singing was just a hobby for her until they went to a concert (with ear protection) and their eyes were all VERY WIDE! She gave them all the cutest shoutout, which was probably so meaningful to the girls. Blake, Kyleigh and Taylor go out on girls nights quite often. They also all go on dates with their husbands (and Travis, obv). Miles was actually friends with Travis before Taylor and Travis were even a thing. People have suspect Miles as being their matchmaker. Blake did such a great job showcasing Taylor’s funny side. Miles did a fantastic job with playing Jake. Such a fun video when the little girl ran away after Taylor took a huge handful of cake.
