My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip-he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. - Psalm 121:2-4
I remember it well as a university student in the 70,S and Our Philharmonia ORCHESTRA performed it it with great love and Steadfastness . Lovely to hear it again ! 744
I enjoyed singing with this group and enjoyed some of the comments. Such as: I sang Treble in our church choir..and.....I sang this in the 7th grade.......I wish I had been on this level to sing this wonderful piece. Look for me. I'm the guy wareing the Black suit.
Salmos 121:1-8
I just happen to find this. We did the whole Elijah went I was at Interlochen back when I was in High School......and that's been a few (many) years ago. Nice to hear again.
Concordia Master Chorale and Concordia Student Choir will be performing the complete score next weekend and Concordia University Irvine. I'm so excited about the passion in which this Oratorio was written. This is one of my favorite chorus's from Elijah.
I was assigned to conduct this back in college and was specifically warned by the professor to point out the diction of "slumbers not, nor sleeps" as if you don't give a slight pause after the "slumbers" it can easily come across as "slumber snot"
@jtensmeyer I really like this comment. I'm performing this right now with a group and I'm an atheist. You can't judge someone just by who they're singing with.
I don't get over excited classical music but this piece I have sung a few times in a chorus, is just great...check out Haydn's (in English) The Heavens are Telling---great too. MIKE
My fondest memory if chorus, little did i know how prophetic this would become in my awakening. ❤❤❤
Oh my word!...i sang this song in the 11th grade, back here at home in south africa...almost cried when i listened to this.
i sang this song at Governor's School in 7th grade. It was so much fun to learn, and i love this rendition.

Wonderful to have so many from the community involved, I love any and all renditions of this piece from "Elijah"!
Love it! It's been over 20 years since I sang Elijah, and this was probably my favorite number!
