Good for you, I enjoy these videos. In this lifetime using my Garrett AT Gold will have to do. I can't imagine doing what you do, then again I sharpen for a living. Thanks bud good video
Alan I really like your videos, very inspirational. Any chance of you and Chris doing one with your dredges in dry dock covering any modifications, what you've kept stock, and how you clean up using the Le Trap? I'm also curious as to how much additional suction hose you use beyond what comes with the Keene dredge. And lastly how do you price & sell your gold, based on size etc. I know this is a lot to ask, may take more than one video if you choose to. If replying below is best for you that would be great too. Anyhow thanks again for all your great videos.
Hi Jeffery - The dredges are now in storage all packed up. I have done only slight mods to my Keene. Added deep V matte on upper, depending on river, added double screen under first screen for the first 10 inches...but put that same screen on rear section this season which you can see on my previous vids. No additional suction hose, just the 20 foot from Keene. Chris' dredge was modded much more than mine by the previous owner. But the mods made it a worse dredge in my opinion. We will rectify that before next season. As far as the Le Trap, here is a video I did in 2010 and you will see my entire process from beginning to end, I still do the same method: Oregon Gold Dredging, Rogue River - Entire Dredge Process from Beginning to End of Day ... The gold sometimes I sell to individuals who give me 85% of spot or sell it on eBay. But I try not to sell it at all. It is my retirement fund, Lol Thanks for watching - it was a fun season!
Sweet! Awesome video, and congrats on the great haul! A question though - what are those white rocks you can see in your pan at 2:52ish? I've never seen white rocks heavy enough to stick in there with the black sand...
Flexi Cone centrifugal concentrators recover 1 micron size gold , you can easy get few grams from half bucket of black sand. If you pulverize black sand you will get much more
Nice work man !! wish it was leagl to do this in Oz still I just came accross a really nice spot to hit with a dredge ! Some guys are still using them but I think if they got caught it would be a hectic fine !! what sort of money do you pay to get a small claim over there ? Cheers Brad
Yes stinks you can't dredge down there anymore. Claim cost depends on who you buy it from. Cheap if you find an un-claimed area, but expensive if you buy it from someone who has it already. I got one claim and paid the BLM $175 for it and sold it 2 years later for $2500 and got a few oz's of gold off it also...
On a river that big, how do you decide where to look for gold? Just guess and check? Just one of those little nuggets is probably more than I have found all together because where I live we can only pan and can't even use a sluice. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.
Georgia. Unless I join one of the gold prospecting clubs who have access to more land, the best place available to me is on army corps of engineers property and they have a lot of rules.
Bearkat4160 thanks for the answer, is it a honda trash pump or just a transfer pump? WB30XT2C..and are you running 3'' or 4''.. looking to build my own dredge in my shop just need some info :D thanks again
Out of curiosity, how does one go about processing and selling this? I guess my question is more so...doesn't the buying company ask where you got it from? I get confused when people mine what seems to be open public land and can't figure out how they report that on taxes, if they need some kind of permits/licenses, etc. Does the owner of the land (probably government) have any issues or laws regarding stuff like dredging? Just curious, because I'd like to do something like this in my own area eventually.
+jmr1068204 - Need permit's to mine. Don't have to pay taxes on it unless it is sold. Buyer doesnt care where it came from as long as it is real gold. Unless it is sold on eBay, buyers are curious about that sometimes. Refiners will assay it to get proper % of gold when they buy it. Cheers.
+jmr1068204 You can easily smelt it down in a mini furnace ($150) off amazon. Then you can pour it out into a little mold and make little gold bars or ingots. After this process they are ready to be shipped off, or me, id rather walk it in to a jeweler and not be ripped off by any bullshit.
nice work.could do with that set up in the highland of Scotland.i found some gold in quartz just walking the dog 1 day.i just think how much is in them streams.again well done to you. barry uk
I use it because it is a precious metal measurement, and that is what I dredge up from the river! Gold! The greatest precious metal! Grams sounds so cheap....Pennyweight has style.
LOL OK, I get it. By the way, unless I'm confusing you with someone else with "Bearkat" in their YT handle, I was surprised (and glad) to find a post you'd made a awhile back regarding a non-gold-prospecting," political" topic. I can say that we're definitely on the same page! God bless and all best wishes for the New Year.
***** Yeah, Gold is always going to find low spots. I think autonomous subs could probably find good nuggets if they were programmed right. The other nice thing about salt water is that it tends to dispose of other metals, so you don't spend your days looking at pop tops.
I feel like I'm missing out, I fucking hate California! I'm scared just to go out with my metal detector! I cannot wait to leave these mountains and experience gold mining and hiking without feel like I'm smuggling heroin!
kieferonline Yes, From metal detecting to gold mining here there are a ton of rules and they all very depending on the county you are in here in San Bernardino they will beat you with a baton if they catch you digging near trees, creek walls or near bushes (all the good areas) Plus No dredging allowed, No high banking, and no using sluices over I think 4 feet. On top of all that shit there is a lot of crookedness or morons I guess you can say, that will try and tell you that you need permits and all types of BS but they are just over pushing their power and acting like they know all the laws. They are all my main problem tho!
Prairie Bilton Ah, bummer! I was dreaming of one day getting a metal detector, or panning in some secluded creek, near the Sacramento area someday. Glad at least now I have a heads up so I don't get fined for being so naive. Thanks for sharing!
Christopher Kiefer No worries partner. If I was you I would still do so. Just as long as you know what to expect. Im starting to learn not to be scared of those asswipes! I still dig under trees and on creek walls and what not, but I always make sure there is no one around now (not all rangers know your not aloud to be digging those areas). Also if you dig any holes (besides creek walls) make sure you bury your hole. The 2 things I notice they look for are people not burying their holes and trash. And let me tell you if the rangers give you a hard time CALL THE POLICE. It will change your situation around real fast. And don't let all this scare you btw. I go out nearly everyday and I get messed with 1/100 times and its from rangers that I had problems with back n high school. Most rangers can be cool and are a bit interested, others will try and beat you with a baton and tase you(jk) but call the police if they give you trouble ;) BTW SACREMENTO IS THE BEST FOR GOLD!!!!!!!! 2 WORDS (AMERICAN RIVER) hint hint. Take care buddy!!!
we have the black sand here bad stuff i hope you pan into a box and repeat this so not to loose any gold and a magnet is good in a plastic bag run over the black sand in the box and in the pan then pull the magnet out of the bag
great job bro i mine diamonds and for the person complaining about the environment your car exhaust discharges more the 150.000 ppm of carbon monoxide into the breathing atmosphere every 10 seconds so moving rocks under water is not pollution its job creation....
Are u thinking I want to see u for money ? can u speak Cantonese....mandarin......japan and Korean language....? English is important but not now......the trend is blowing to the east.......
Dude that is an amazing haul. I sure hope to have a clean up like that someday. Southern Oregon has the Shiny. Heavy pans to you.
Now that's what I call a cleanup! Nice nuggets and underwater capture! Way to go Pardner!
What an experience I go out to pan but always wanted to try to go in but water here is always freezing lol ty for sharing BearKat awesome 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Good for you, I enjoy these videos. In this lifetime using my Garrett AT Gold will have to do. I can't imagine doing what you do, then again I sharpen for a living. Thanks bud good video
I live on the rogue (grants pass) and I had no idea that kind of gold was in there! Well done
Wow now thats what you call a good chunky days prospecting well done.
Can you still dredge there? Great video thank-you

Alan thanks for directing me to the 2010 video. Very informative.
keep up the good work, your on your way my man!!
I did three oz. just upstream from Gold Hill on the big bend in the river. Best week I've ever done with my 3 in. Keene.
Wow. That's such a great find.
WTG Alan, you killed it bro, keep up the good work and get more nuggets!
Sweet! Awesome video, and congrats on the great haul! A question though - what are those white rocks you can see in your pan at 2:52ish? I've never seen white rocks heavy enough to stick in there with the black sand...
That is lead shot...
Bearkat4160
and we get the same in new Zealand. plenty of shot in some rivers, but they do go in hand with the gold.
Flexi Cone centrifugal concentrators recover 1 micron size gold , you can easy get few grams from half bucket of black sand. If you pulverize black sand you will get much more
Awesome vid bro. Thanks a bunch. Keep scorin and filming ;)

Great stuff! Why is the 31st Aug the end of the season? And what is the start of the season?
Season starts on June 15th for this river. Others rivers are different. Some end on Sept 15th. We have to stop before the Salmon lay their eggs.
Ok, I see now! Bloody fish!! I'm based in uk, but really fancy coming over, buying 6k dredge and giving it ago. Sick of desk job you see!
Bearkat4160 how much gram

Hello! shall I buy a green gateway?
Hey Bearkat sweet vids man, what kind of pump are you using for you're dredge?
These are Keene pumps running on 2 Honda 6.5 hp motors.
Bearkat4160 thanks for the answer, is it a honda trash pump or just a transfer pump? WB30XT2C..and are you running 3'' or 4''.. looking to build my own dredge in my shop just need some info :D thanks again
pat howarth Not a trash pump, just regular Keene dredge pump. I am running a 6" Keene mini. Lots O Power!

Where about's was that? I was born and bred in the Highlands around Cairngorms. Would be interesting to go out and have a poke about some time.

Could be pyrite too, better check it to be sure :)
already checked ;-)
The guy below is right! You get more than any of those idiots on TV!!! I bet you are happy as hell!! Good video!
So why do you put diamond weight in the title when your dealing with gold?
I'd like to know where i can get a trap like that?
hi i live in the U.P, i am just wondering where you go to get the permits?
Well done...good day in anyones book!
That's insane. Good for you man.
Is your television an Insignia? I have the exact same remote haha
What do you do with the gold and how much is that worth?
how do you find water to dredge in? do you just go and find a river and just start dredging or?
Research where gold is in rivers and go at it - with proper permits of course. Or get your own mining claim.
Had a sluice like yours, used it in the wrong river. went to collect some black sand, never heard of my sluice again ._.
how much money will that be
Nice nuggets man! How long do you both plan on stayin there? :)
6 days a week...until Aug 31st - end of season.

oh, ok. haha. thats nice
nice job. good gold day.can you do a video on the gold you got for the mouth. thanks
Good job man!!
No idea why Bearkat uses the dwt measurement unit, it’s rarely if ever used in the USA. Seems a bit contrived.
I use it because it is a precious metal measurement, and that is what I dredge up from the river! Gold! The greatest precious metal! Grams sounds so cheap....Pennyweight has style.

God bless and all best wishes for the New Year.
I believe we are my friend....God bless you as well and Happy New Year!
good luck man
That's a nice score.
how much is that right there?
14.16 pennyweight = 0.776777143 ounces
0.776777143 ounces * $1246.61 current gold price per ounce
looks like $969.34
Awesome.
1:23 MARIO !?!!!?!?!
audio sounds like a thunder storm while voyaging the ocean
I've heard gold dredging on the Clearwater River in Idaho is a big deal.
rocker85675 Love that movie :D
***** I'd like to prospect in Greenland. The ice is receding, exposing land that has never been seen by man.
***** I'm building a bunch of equipment for Shell Oil right now for their drilling operations in the Arctic.

Yep...
