Some of you missed the point of this video. He's not trying to make money from this, only to show you how much gold is in random sand. Now knowing this , pick a spot of your own where there is free sand and go mining.

I like to hit construction sights. I watch them till they hit bedrock and then i watch were they move the piles to. Usually its local. At night is the best time to loot some earth
@@marcdominguez3595 the problem with that is that not just any bedrock has concentrated placer gold. If the construction is in an old river bed that’s one thing but I think the shortcut of having someone else dig to bedrock becomes the long way after a certain point where you move way more dirt to get less gold. Everyone wants to get to mining and puts the cart before the horse it seems. Careful prospecting is tedious and frustrating, I understand, but it seems to be one of the most overlooked and rushed steps I see out there. Your actual mining plan almost matters less than where you choose to apply it.

Thanks man! Just went to Lowes and payed $80 for sand. Went home, dumped it into the swimming pool. After being under water for about 4 1/2 hours, I came up to the surface with my arms loaded with gold bars.

About 32 years ago I worked summers when school was out working for a monument company. We set headstones for many funeral homes. We would go to them and get grave locations. Sometimes we would follow the mortician to the graveyard. We had to go out back at one particular funeral home because they had a crematorium and they preformed many cremations. We went around back this one day and the owner who also was the mortician was caught off guard panning for gold with a pair of pliers! He had a huge bowl that would hold about 4/5 gallons that was full of gold teeth! He picked the bowl up and ran it back to a back room. I asked was that, Yes he replied! I figure if I have to cremate someone and they have gold or silver in their mouth it’s coming out! You know what I mean? He only told us this because we busted him! Lol! That is 100% true story from 1986 in Avon Park Fl! Sometimes you don’t need a pan to pan for gold! You just need a good pair of pliers!

yeah that hoffman bunch... I watched the first 2 seasons,in all those shows the Hoffmans never really struck paydirt to speak of. I stopped watching, because it was hard to watch. I pulled out more gold working the creek beds up in Alaska in 2 weeks, then they did working a full season and that was using the equipment i packed on my back. I began to watching the program last week again and see the hoffmans have at least 4 brand new volvo dump trucks,a brand new mega sluice,headquarters..on and on. Its no doubt H2 or their geologist gave them the equipment and a new site,it appears they have their poop in a group now and are finally making profit. I would like to take my backpack equipment up to their site and show them how much gold they waste in the overburden they toss. I like the kid and his old man up north on another claim,he should have never agreed to work the swedes claim, that prick knew the kid would stop when the kid realized he being used. the swed wanted the kid to clear off new ground and when the kid didn't play by the swedes rules..he walked out of the bogus arraignment ..leaving the swede with 168 grams of gold on the table the kid worked out of the ground. didn't show them dividing the find.

Yeah..I have back problems now and panning that burden really would be. ,but that would not stop me from using larger equipment.
For sure would have liked to wander onto the Hoffman claim and ask permission to work it 30 yrs ago.The Hoffman operation can now be considered as big league, as their operation is producing a significant amount of color now.
When I look back at it.,it was hard to watch but.. interesting seeing the Hoffmans stumble through the process of discovery, they sure did start off with a long run of mishaps and lost fortune.. more power to them now. it is good entertainment and fun to listening to the ol man on the Hoffman crew saying "I know there is gold down in that glory hole,we just gotta dig deeper!"..when all along he was standing on a fist sized nugget..lol
I was thinking again..that just because the specs on a piece of machinery allows for constant maximum feed,does not mean it should be done as the Hoffmans do. I have more than a gut feeling Hoffmans are only seeing 1/2 to 2/3rds color for each yard they dump in the hopper(where there is flake gold there is nuggets..and where are they?. Haste makes waste,time down is money lost..Hoffmans seem to run away when the first freeze sets in. I know the winters up there can be harsh, but no harsher than winters in the upper midwest,there is no reason to bring the operation to a halt,I know they deal with permafrost, but there exists equipment, they can now afford, to bust up the permafrost layer,bulldoze it, bucket into trucks and have piles of paydirt ready when things begin to thaw. I look at the De Beers placer gold mining operations up near the Arctic circle,they run 24/7,.of course they can afford mining on mars if they could,.they have a 99% recovery rate,.nothing is overlooked.
I am not to old to start up a gold mining operation,just put me where the gold is and i will find it.
There is not much gold here and so many dnr regulations/ laws in Wisconsin any attempts to mine here would be foolish.

Everyone rips on them [Hoffmans] but they never claimed to be seasoned vets. They have made some big mistakes but they keep getting up and learning from them. Funny that no one gets on Parker for moving a fuck-ton of overburden to find out he was chasing a ghost.
I came back this far to see the Jeff Williams of yesterday and compare him to the present. You sure have put in your TH-cam dues. I have a new found respect for you that's even deeper than before. Finding gold in sand from Home Depot can't be any stranger then finding gold on a section of railroad I use for work. You see the rock used to hold the ties in place, called Ballast, came from a company that dredged rock out of a creek that has Placer gold.
I found a few nice pieces of quartz rock and decided to break them open to see what was inside. Lo and behold I found several nice slivers of gold inside them. Still have the pieces.
Now mind you don't go looking for gold on railroad property. Railroads can get a might touchy unless you're an employee and have the company's blessing to be on the property.

Awesome video! Love the energy! I have been getting into an amateur level of knowledge on the geological sciences and have developed the same passion but haven't hit true gold fever yet. But this video helps urge me into the gold side of things by knowing hardware store bags of sand contain gold... amazing lol
Arizona streets are paved with gold. An old timer told me this and after a few years when the blacktop fades, sure enough, fine flakes show thru. Liked your video. This method is cheaper than driving way out in the wilderness and getting the same results which has been my experience.

The gravel quarries just east of Sacramento are in the old American River dredge fields. When I lived there 30 years ago, a family owned quarry used to shut down for the week between Christmas and New Year's and they'd give all their employees a paid week off. The whole family (and only the family) would get together and remove all the guards off all the conveyors and wash the sand that collected on them. I'd estimate there was at least a mile worth of conveyors in there. The rumor was they'd pull upwards of 500 ounces off those guards each year.

Jeff, LOVE your videos. Ya know what they say, "Once that gold takes a bite, your brain ain't never gonna be right"! Hahaahaaaa. Seriously, My daughter bought 22 - 1 cubic foot bags of Miracle Gro Moisture Control Potting mix (she grows award winning Roses)a while back (bag is labeled that it is from the lower Ohio River Valley) and she didn't like all the sediment (pieces of wood, large pebbles, ect) so she used an old window screen to shake it down and was left with a pretty fine black dirt with white flecks in it. She dumped all six bags she sifted into a wheel barrow and it sat for about a year, with her using a few scoops here, a couple of scoops there. Just for giggles, I took a few 3gal buckets to practice panning (using the copper BB trick ya showed in one video) and I almost crapped myself when I finished the 1st pan full! NOT only did the BB stay in the pan (must be doin it right, hee heee) but Dude.....I also discovered a line of what looks like might be possible gold dust along the lead edge in my pan! I used a hypodermic needle, minus the needle my wife got me (she's a nurse) to collect it and after processing about 1/2 pound of the dirt, I now have (acc to my scale) a small plastic container that is holding a few grams of this 'shiny'. If there was that much in only about a half pound of the dirt, what might be in an entire 30 gal. wheelbarrow full of it????? Jeff, is there a way I can test what I have so far to see if it is gold? Do they sell any type of testing kit you know of? I was thinking about trying a local Gold for Cash shop but our 2 local shops are known for being MAJOR rip-offs and liars. Someone told me a 4% muriatic acid test would tell. I tried a few tests I have seen on other You Tube sites, such as mixing it with sand and repanning and it all came out again. I'll even send a sample to you and Slim to test if that's what it takes. Any ideas?????

I came here because I got some of this stuff and sorted it for some fine gravel for my aquarium, saw some nice looking little garnets and agates in there so figured what the hell, threw a handful in my pan and found a gold flake! The bag says it's from Georgia but I wonder where the mine(s) is. I'm in Oregon.

ROFL... YEAH, I agree Chris.. Nothing educational... Well, except if you include your comment that somehow sand and concrete mix are mutually exclusive. Ive laid tile and bricks, and in tile, its best to hand (manually) mix your concretes. That being said, if Im not mistaken, he has bags of the "sand", didnt look like Portland (the lime, silica and other stuff), nor did it look like gravel (that is sometimes added). It could have been the Aggregate (just crushed gravel, sometimes fine, depending on the outcome you are looking for), but it isn't, as you can see in the vid. Yes, I agree, his presentation was a little aggravating, but you are way wrong in your troll.. please leave video people to their video making, the fun people to having fun... and really.. leave trolling to people that at least know what they are talking about when they troll..

Stupid people are funny to listen to but we need people like David and the jackasses from "Gold Rush Alaska", and "Fool's Gold" to keep thinking it can be done with no background knowledge or expertise which keeps the prospecting success rate at ~0.3% (For your benefit David that means that 3 out of every 1000 prospectors are able to make a living doing it). Otherwise too many intelligent people would latch onto the idea and that number would jump dramatically. I say this as a resource geologist with a prospectors licence who realizes that finding economically viable to mine mineral and metal deposits are unbelievably easy to find if you have any training in where to find them whatsoever.

I'm joking, but you can get a lot more gold off used electronics cheaper and a lot faster and not get wet doing it or break out in a sweat. But it looks fun anyway.
I'll bet ground mining you can find gold in every state of the USA or anywhere in the world for that fact. Its just getting the dirt off te gold thats the hard part.

Wowza I worked at Home Depot for 2 years and didnt know we had gold sitting in the outside garden section! Love the panning technique. We find it easier just walking into the bank and JUST ASKING FOR ALL THEIR FREE SILVER on hand! Keep up the good work. The precious metal fever is alive!!!!

Home depot has a good return policy, pan out the sand rebag it and return it!!! :P
This actually could be profitable... "IF" ....
1) You buy Home Depot sand by the pallet (on sale) with a credit card that gives additional $perks/savings$
2) Have a friend with a pickup go & get the pallet(s) of sand as a favor.
3) Invest in a used (small/portable) mining machine (i.e. Camel-Pro, etc...) & run it off solar powered batteries.
4) Use collected rain or well water vs city water.
5) Save your Home Depot sand receipts...!....
6) Very gently/carefully cut open the bags of sand (so you can put the "processed" sand back into the original retail bags) then re-seal the bags shut and return 'em to the store for a full refund OR better yet... sell the processed sand (at cost or slightly below cost) to local gardeners (etc...) via Craigslist ;)

hi Jeff. For years I worked at the point of the mountain in a sand gravel and road base operation I litteraly made a hole were some hills used to be. And not once did I ever try panning in all that materiali put through sreening plants,rock crushers and old river beds were there were clay bottoms . there were holes amoungst the clay that turned out to be tree s and there left overs from were lake bonaville broke its point of the mountain dam thousands of years ago. I just wonder how much gold, If any I paved Utah county sreets and put around sewer pipes. Gold is only a panning away. grait shows Jeff As Always.
