We cover installation of the free to play shard UO Outlands and discuss what Ultima Online is, how you gain experience in certain skills and stats. UO Outlands is a free-to-play Ultima Online shard loosely set in the T2A era which launched in October of 2018. Our mission from the onset has been to create a version of Ultima Online which enhances every aspect of gameplay, creating a shard which we believe emulates how Ultima Online should have always been had it stayed the course.

I was ready to give up on playing the game that i always wanted to play due to complex systems and lack of information, even before i start the journey. I never played this game, but i am for some reason attracted to the aesthetic and old graphics of this game.. dunno why... is it a good idea to try this game for someone who never played it before with 0 nostalgia?
Yeah I think it’s a great game even 20 years later. Outlands is an updated version of the original game with a new map and tons of players. Follow along here and I got more to come!

i used to play on this server uo alive, it was a lot like OSI, even had support for the enhanced client, had pretty much everything they had on EA's. It was fun, to get back into UO and also not having to pay a monthly fee, but it was pretty easy to rank up a character on there, and PVP was disabled even on fel. It got boring really quick IMO. Kept seeing youtube videos about outlands, at first i was intimidated because outlands is the total opposite, theres basically no safe place, except maybe inside your rented hotel room, and shelter island (noob island). But i decided to see what the fuss was about. And now i don't have a life anymore, i live on outlands... This is the most fun ive had in a long time playing a MMO.

why is it so hard to find a video on were to go after shelter island. been trying for 2 hours to figure out what location is a starting zone
Haha great question - but it’s an open sandbox world so you can literally go anywhere!
Dungeons have multiple floors, lvl 1 is great for newbs. Wildness has a ton of mobs to explore.
Id recommend getting some camping skill and then going to go find the points of interest in the camping book - that’s what I did to explore the world.
@@Jaseowns ok, ill try that. i dint know if the locations were level based. it gives you like 6 or 7 locations to teleport to from the starter island
I quit cuz I kept dieing on shelter island and couldn’t click my body since it put those robes on me I thought I lost my stuff lol going to try again when I get home

came back to this game after 25 years almost... I dont really remember how to play or setup. I remember corp por lol... anyway not seeing this Razor app just came uikp to account login. the game window is small I saw you just resize yours.. I need to find your razor guide I think. I use to play character SilentDeath but not sure about where that account is or if its still being used as I sold it 20 years ago when I quit. I dont even know how to get to Felucia it was not an option only trammel :( I rather be rez killed over and over than be in Trammel even though I am old man now after so many years lol....I am ready for some nostalgia!

Can you please help? How do i resize the text inside the menus? I play on a 1920x1080 and the text is so tiny it literally hurts my eyes. How do i scale the UI and make the text also bigger? I literally cant play the game until i fix this.
I’m not 💯 sure how to scale the ui or if that is possible.. might want to ask in the Outlands discord. And yes I have a hard time seeing that’s why I use name plates 😂

Hello. I have recently returned to actual UO and it is fun but so few players. I am interested in UO Outlands but computer security is a serious concern to me. How secure is this? Has this been tested for malware/spyware/virus/etc? Can the host see my IP? The risks are the main concern I have, but this looks like a lot of fun.
Also, is it all PvP, or can Trammie lovers avoid that?

I would say check out and website and join the official discord channel to learn more about those answers. For PvP it’s a mix of amazing PVM content with the risk of PKs. Learning to deal with that is either fun or frustrating so if you’re looking for 100% trammel this server is not that. But either way I would recommend checking it out! Thanks for the sub. in what order should new players buy codex, aspect and mastery chain?
I personally think made the mistake of buying the chain first, since the links cost too much anyway, so it serves no purpose for me
More if a question for discord, where you will find people will endlessly debate which order is optimal...
If you're a new player, biggest bang for your buck is codex, costs 70k or so to get and you can grind it right up to max for no extra cost, just takes epic time.
Aspect is a little more expensive to unlock and you need to invest in each level, so not easy at first and you only really start to feel the benefit after you have reached around t5.
Chain gives you zero benefit for ages until you unlock the slots and bought the links which costs quite a lot... But link slots are the real MVP later on. Recent patch means you gain chain XP before you even get a chain, so this is (unfortunately for you) now a clear loser in the 'which to buy first' contest.

For me, it was an archery codex, then air aspect unlock, then months later a mastery chain because I didn't know it existed lol
Seems like you no longer can pick a template when creating a character. I was immediately thrown in the deep and asked about stats
No worries! Strength let’s you hold more so starting with 60 is okay. You will earn up to 225 total fairly quickly
@@Jaseowns I wanted archer but because of this it also didn't give me starter gear. I mean it gave me a lot of stuff I had no idea what it was for, but I just kinda had a sword. I'll play a bit more tomorrow, maybe I can figure out how to actually get a bow. It seems a bit unfortunate because these presets looked like a great starter
Are you on Outlands or another server? If you selected archery you should start with a bow.
@@Jaseowns I am. I didn't get the option to select "archery" at all. I created the design of my character and then it asked me what stats I wanted and thats it. When I asked about it on the discord they just linked me to a wiki describing templates that I didn't really understand. I have no idea if i'm just missing something or if its something they changed on their end. If i play on the real servers I do get the option by the way; there it makes a lot more sense to me.
@@Jaseowns The screen at 2:26 is no longer shown for me. It basically goes straight to the "Advanced" screen. But indeed if i select archery manually there I do get a bow

@@Jaseowns sad i try the free version is not the same game as the official one, only a programming guide,this island is full of afks on macros, you can't even cast spells like in the original one, you just have to click everything or spend a few hours yourself to set the keyboard and some macros for targeting. I don't want to program games just play lol and game dont have menu like all normal game feel like base for programing not game .free is not mean good

I have to say that the new player experience is really really bad. Been playing for a little while and there is are ppl draggin high lvl monsters to entrance to either kill new players and/or use bots to raise skill. Its really hard to start, theres constant spams, no one is talking or willing to party or anything really. Most ppl use bots which im suprised is permited? Overall game looks nice but the player experience have been extremnely bad till now
Not sure if you ever played original uo but part of the game is kind of learning by trying - and it’s an open sandbox where skills you use is what you gain. Pretty cool concept! New players don’t have a set path so setting up a new player experience can be challenging- also for some of us we’ve played on and off for over 15 years so most bots or spam you see is people either training skills or advertising for vendors. Discord is probably the easiest way to actually talk to people if you are still new and not in the dungeons beyond shelter island. Hope you have fun though!

I support OSI and private shards - I think UO developers could get some inspiration from the work the custom community creates.
