Some are pointing out that the Bible gives humans permission to eat meat after the flood, but is unclear on when animals started being carnivorous. Answers in Genesis seems to hold a position that animals ate meat immediately after the fall, but does so tenuously. I believe I was mixing up Ken Ham and Kent Hovind, who holds to meat origins after the flood. I'll need to investigate further, but that these positions seem to be a toss-up tells us that any dogmatic Genesis interpretation may be a mistake.
C'mon Paul. How could anyone get these guys mixed up? It's sooooo obvious.
Kent Ham is the hammy one and Ken Hovind is the other one.
Thanks for the clarification. I still don't recall hearing anyone claim it wasn't until after the flood, but it wouldn't even surprise me to be honest.

Him mentioning you on _his_ show means that _his_ listeners will _probably_ look you up, see your show, realize that yes, can ham is full of it, and cause his already dwindling subscriber base to plummet.
Just because a joke is old doesn't mean everyone has already heard it. I myself had never heard "so open-minded that your brains fall out" until watching this video.

Again, it's not possible to "disbelief" once you're aware of the concept of a god. You either believe a god exists, more gods exist, or no gods exist. That is the way our brains work, we form beliefs about reality.
"Hamanism" Excellent branding! We should emphasize they are a fringe branch in christianity. Having a dedicated term is the way.
I thought AiG thought that carnivory began after the fall, not after the flood. That's what I was taught by creationists.

I find the moment someone decries open-mindedness because their idea isn't as represented as they like.. to be very telling about how open minded they themselves are. And how self aware they are. Consider the idea that perhaps not all ideas are equal, and that it is well within peoples capabilities to have differing opinion, and if your opinion does not stand up to their scrutiny, they may cast your idea out, whilst remaining open-minded.
Creationists in particular seem to have this rhetorical quirk they love. When someone uses an argument against them that works, they repeat it back as if it were theirs and in their favor. Of course they do it without understanding what it is, what it means, where it came from, or why it worked against them. So their use of it is always cringeworthy. Such as "I don't have enough faith to be an atheist," where they admit that faith is a bad thing to have. Or "You think everything came from nothing," where they admit that creation ex-nihilo is stupid. Or "Don't be so open-minded your brains fall out," where they admit they have no idea what it would even mean to consider a position not their own. They repeat scientific buzzwords like a Chinese Room would, failing to understand why misapplying and misusing the same tactics that proved them wrong, without understanding them, can't also prove them right. It's almost as if lying and telling the truth were non-symmetric in some way such that being wrong doesn't have the same power as being right.
Uh, the point of the Chinese Room is that the components carrying out the algorithm don't need to understand it as a whole for it to give the right answers.
It's basically just a Turing Test, with the human in the room acting as a slow computer running the program that's being tested, and the program passing.
The Blunder From Down Under not only does not understand the terms he's using, but the algorithm he's following doesn't come remotely close to giving the right answer.

Every time I've argued with theists/creationists they have always committed logical fallacies, including question begging, appeal to authority, appeal to popularity, moving the goalposts and poisoning the well. But every time they have claimed I've committed such fallacies they have displayed massive incomprehension of what these fallacies are.
Paul, do you really expect someone who lies constantly to be honest in his dealings with you?
First, congratulations on being considered a real problem for Ken. Getting kicked out of the conference was one thing, but getting referred to in their little talk show shows you've hit a nerve. Of course the only nerve that Hamm has is in his wallet, so I think maybe there were much fewer sales of his stuff at that conference than was expected and he thinks it was because of all the publicity.
And of course, that is the best part. If they had just let you attend, there would have been little notice taken by the average Canadian in the area and AiG might have sold a few more bits of their horrible curricula intended to prevent the education of children. They have a phrase describing that phenomenon. What was it? Oh, yeah, the Streisand Effect.
I got a kick out of the "brains fall out" thing, since it is most often used by skeptics to people who believe in woo. Also note that after Georgia came up with that little aphorism (not bothering to mention it wasn't her invention) and Ken thought it was cool, Brody mentioned that it was not her invention. I have to wonder if Georgia has trouble with her temporal-mandibular joints, because I know if I had to sit next to that pretentious, back-stabbing moron, I'd be clinching my teeth pretty hard to keep from telling him what I thought of him, and there are times when I see her jaw muscles look pretty tight.

I have a friend who is a teacher at San Diego Christian College. It is a local den of YEC fundamentalism. He says he “channels” me when introducing students to atheism. The interesting point is that he formerly would invite me out to lecture. After the last time, during the Q&A they could only fall back on faith as a final proof. I haven’t been invited back.
I think he still channels me though! Lol!

No, he really isn't. He started out in Australia, got into a power struggle with the leader of the creationist organization he joined, then apparently decided (not incorrectly) he'd make more money in the US and came over here. Then the original creationist group tried to sue him for stealing a bunch of their stuff, including their mailing list, and he created AiG. This was all roughly 20 years ago, but you can probably find some articles about it if your Google Fu is any good.
All I know is that someone who pretends to know sports and then makes such a horrible error is an inhuman monster and must be defeated. Paul is truly fighting the good fight.

I often wonder if these guys (and ones like them) actually still believe what they say, knowingly lie or are just too far gone from reality to turn back.
It's not an easy thing to answer. Humans are too good at compartmentalizing. Even if you really believe God can move mountains if you pray hard enough, you still get some heavy equipment to move that mountain--and then praise God for moving the mountain.
In Ken's case, I am pretty sure he doesn't believe a word of it. He's in business. As the used car salesman puts on the happy face and acts like you are both wise and wily, so Ken puts on his Genesis face.
Georgia is actually well educated. I don't know if she is Lying for Jesus out of a real commitment or simply knows that she'll make a hell of a lot more money doing what she does rather than what she trained for. I do know that those two numbskulls embarrass the hell out of her sometimes. It's fun to concentrate on her face when they are talking.

One lie breads another to keep the fist lie from being exposed and so it goes on and on and on.... if you called time on one of his lies then you have to keep regressing back to source until the first lie that started it off is exposed. It would be like putting silk back into the spider after it made its web to see where it all started from. I guess by this time so many lies or un-thruths have been made that Ken now has an obligation to himself to keep the lies flowing thus stemming the flow of natural reason and curiousity to learn how the world realy is. That would take him to open his mind which is a terrible thing as mention, it would end up falling out :)

Here we find that the rocket slowly stop and start to fall towards the ground again.
And the sideways camera have a fish eye lens, but each time the Earth is centered in the picture, the Earth is curved. Regardless of the angle the camera is filming.
Not by much, but clearly noticable.
So, both NASA and the Bible is a fraud. (And if you have a problem here, remember I use YOUR standard of evidence!)

Paul, major potential correction from around the 17 minute mark:
I don't think that Creationists claim all animals were vegetarians before the Flood, but rather that all animals were vegetarian before the Fall (and expulsion from the Garden of Eden). If the AiG crew have made separate claims about animals being vegetarian between the Fall and the Flood, I would be curious to see it and will retract my statement.
That may depend on the creationist in question but Ken Ham and AiG quite explicitly do.

Paranormal - That's shocking to me... are they doing it to explain how everything on the Ark didn't eat everything else? From my Creationist upbringing (including lectures from Hovind's organization), the explanation I got was that carnivores didn't exist before The Fall and expulsion from the Garden, when death entered the world as a consequence of Adam's original sin.
So that means the Ham and AiGs version conflicts with other Creation "scientists"... quelle surprise!

I know that before the *FLOOD*, dinosaurs and man lived in harmony, and the dinosaurs were all herbivores. I don't know for sure that he extrapolates that to all animals, but it seems like an odd distinction to make, if he doesn't.
I think that his logic goes like this: 400,000 animals were on the boat, because math. There wasn't enough meat on the boat to feed the carniverous animals on the boat... therefore we can assume that they were fed rabbit food from the hydroponics bay. It's all very logical and stuff.
Disappointing on part of AHEA, hope they realized what they have done.

Great catch about the fish eating another fish. I've actually heard more often that carnivorous activity supposedly started right after Adam and Eve had to leave the paradise so I didn't even think about this specific problem with Ham's "teachings".

Animals were all vegetarian until after the flood? I thought it was the fall that switched carnivores on.
I was also indoctrinated from a young age to despise evolution and the scientific consensus. I was raised up on the Abeka curriculum which was full of fallacies and pseudo science. Getting a real education and learning about how science, and the world, really work could've saved me so much heart ache. If I had known what I do know about reality, science, and my religion; I never would've been baptized. I would never have believed as much as I did. Child indoctrination is wrong. I don't give a damn what you think you're going to achieve by doing so. Let them think for themselves and learn how to think!

The player in question copped a lot of backlash. Almost all Christian commentary on the matter also equated the negative reaction/consequences he experienced with taking away his freedom of speech.
