Saxon's first album was 1980 and they were on the very first monsters of rock bill at Donington. Like most UK bands they had a sticky patch in the 90s, but they're superb. The new album is phenomenal
I dunno man, Saxon in the 90s were bloody fantastic! Granted Heavy Metal in general fell out of favour in the 90s but Saxon went in a heavier direction during that time and built themselves back up and carried on that momentum to this day! From Solid Ball of Rock which came out in 1990 up until the newest album Hell, Fire and Damnation which came out a couple of weeks ago... They literally haven't released a bad album between that period of time which is remarkable! They've released a string of albums that range from good to great in that time period that is older than I am! If isn't that incredible consistency then I don't know what is! 😂
1979 was when their self titled debut album released, Wheels of Steel was the second, though it was a *massive* leap in quality (though I’d still argue the debut has some underrated sleepers, like Stallions of the Highway, and the Frozen Rainbow duology)
@@LanceCorporalHawk30 Backs to the Wall and Militia Guard are great tracks too! However I prefer the re-recorded versions of Stallions, Milita Guard, Frozen Rainbow and Backs to the Wall that the band did a few years back! Those re-recorded versions pack more a punch I think.
They have one that they dropped a couple months ago called Hell, Fire, and Damnation that I think is great. I haven't found a line up yet, so, hopefully some fans stop by. Have you ever done Stryper's Transgressor? If not, definitely find it, and please think about doing both. Not much for growling, but he is great at it. :) XOXO
They’re one of the better acts of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM for short). Their biggest hit arguably is Wheels of Steel, from their second album of the same name, and Denim and Leather. But they’ve never been afraid to experiment a bit. Though I *highly* recommend more Saxon, period. The previous songs for the more classic sound, plus Power and The Glory, Crusader, and Strong Arm of The Law, and for the newer sound Live To Rock, Killing Ground, Lionheart, Battalions of Steel, and State of Grace
Doubt youll see this but I noticed you have a Rock or Bust vinyl? My father was the drummer in the rock or bust official music video and also for the play ball music video. He also knows the Saxon boys quite well. Cool stuff man.
Saxon come from my part of the UK, I've known Nibbs the bass player since the late 80's and Biff is my friends uncle. I haven't listened to them since the early 90's. I owe them an apology and I better do some catching up.....
The inclusion of the Amón Amarth singer as a second voice does not add anything to the song, I think it would be prettier if they took him out and he only sang biff. Apologies again for my English and greetings from Argentina

Saxon and Motorhead were great friends, Motorhead took Saxon out on tour back in 1979 and they toured together many times over the years 🤘
They were not nearly this heavy in the early 80's when I first heard them but they are evolving. Sounds great.
With you being a big Motörhead fan, you’ll really appreciate their song They Played Rock N Roll about Mötorhead, that they wrote after Lemmy died
