Probably the greatest live performance ever of Maggie May. Rod's singing, J'Anna's mandolin, Ronnie's guitar, the crowd singing every word, although most of them weren't even born at the time, it's all there. What makes it even more special is that he's back in London, playing Albert Hall, looking at Ronnie and sings about going back home (in a genius passage of Gasoline Alley). I am going to tell my story about Rod Stewart. My Dad was a major record distributor in sales. I was living with him in 1971. He came home one night and played this album. He asked me to listen to it. I was 20 years old. I listened, and he asked me what I thought and how much he should order. I said order them all. I fell in love. This is a true story

Watching this for probably the 20th time it brings back so many memories. My wife passed last month the day before our 51st wedding anniversary. When we first got married "Every Picture Tells A Story" came out. We were in the Army and did not own a TV so playing the grooves off of the few albums we could afford was our entertainment as we dreamed and made plans for our future. The pure joy of the musicians, audience and Rod is the same I have, sitting here crying, as I remember those innocent days in the first year of our marriage. Joan and I saw our dreams and plans come to life over the years. She said her only regret was not getting to further enjoy the great home and life we built together; I thanked her for her efforts in leaving me a place of peace and sanctuary to continue to enjoy. I read a few months ago that a musician was playing this song on a public square in London when Rod Stewart happened to be passing by. He stopped and started singing the song to the audience's delight. Then he walked away under numerous applause. That's the kind of guy he is.
This song has everything that should be performed live on stage: the story of a real love affair, the enthusiasm of all the musicians and the feeling of having experienced the whole audience. There's nothing better than you and your song, Rod. Thank you forever!

I love Rod Stewart, he has a rugged looks and unusual husky voice. Love most of his songs, what a talented guy. Ron Wood was his guest guitarist. I really like the sweet looking girl playing the mandolin guitar. This is one of the most lively shows. Second half of the the show, she stole some lime lights.
Performance, Rod rocking in yellow! I really don’t know how you get any better than this, seeing Rod having a great time, feeding the crowd, raising up his arms, unbelievable

If I had two minutes to talk to Rod, I'd tell him about the re-scheduled date where I saw him and the Faces in Germany in a small venue in the mid-70's with the crowd being about 300 people and very few of us we're Americans. I got to watch the entire show (and shoot pictures) from the foot of the stage. It was glorious and a night I'll never forget.
Yes, I don't quite understand it - Gregg Allman's last concert, professionally filmed with Jackson Browne, etc. Meanwhile, Gregg's children - in the front row - are holding their little phones up to record Gregg and Jackson singing the last two songs. WTF? I don't get it, but then ... I'm old.

Went to a concert in Missouri, je kicked soccer balls put in the theater
What a great version! His voice has never sounded better!
I was 16 when I first heard songs from Rod Stewart since then I became his # 1 fan and now I'm 57 yrs old still #1 fan of Rod! I love you idol, Rod Stewart, I'm from the Philippines! God bless you and you are best!
I love this! Every song in this concert turned into an audience participation sing-along!
Cant fake genuine appreciation
One of my favorite songs of all time. Love his music.
Rod NEVER disappoints, love every song and the way he sings them, the perfect entertainer!!!
This performance ❤ was by far one of the best 🎉 I think cuz of the enthusiastic audience ❤
Yeah!!! Hard working performer. King of love and popular song.
1:44 Ron: solo?
Rod : not yet.... lovely haha
Then 2:32 ... Ronnie solo!! 😃😃
If you watch his 2018 live performance of Maggie May during "BBC Children In Need Rocks" you see that she's still around!
She reminds me of bruce springstien's younger sister. But i don't know if she is
@@mikeewenson9824 who is bruce stingsteen lol ?

Performance, Rod rocking in yellow! I really don’t know how you get any better than this, seeing Rod having a great time, feeding the crowd, raising up his arms, unbelievable
Very nice ... I miss my teenage days so much!
I do too all of his music brings back so many memories especially Maggie May you wrote that strong when lost his virginity and I'm going to share something with you it reminds me of when I lost mine LOL I'm serious you got to love him and his music singer songwriter performer and when he performs he's his own instrument I don't know if you know this but he started out playing harmonica and the rest is history
He was having so much FUN doing this! It was fun to watch.
When everyone knows the words decades later, you know you are at the top. Keep rockin Rod we still love you 😉😊you defy the meaning of slowing down !!!!
Love him from Zanzibar island
@Rod Stewart....and I'm supposed to believe that you are really Rod Stewart 🤔 😂 I don't think so as he has more important things to do than talk to me 🙆♀️besides he wouldn't put his number here for all to see 🤦♀️... nice try whoever this is 😂
Always bring Ron with you .......
You'd think Rod was 20 years old!
It absolutely doesn't get better than this!!! Thank you Sir Rod and Ron Wood!!! I am so happy I have seen your face!!!
Wow One of the most adorated singers of our lifetime thanks for all memories rod
This crowd was awesome, and not an iPhone in sight. Why! Cos they came to enjoy themselves, and Rod and his Crew, did not disappoint. Simply Brilliant.
BECAUSE there were no iphones at the time
เ
This video aged well, but its actually from 2004!
Considering that the concert was recorded 3 years before the launching of the first iPhone... maybe, that explains part of your comment.
Touché
Rod Stewart is one of the best male singers in the history of the human race!
Gunna agree .. they don’t make em like that anymore for sure
@@cindiconti2272 Aaaa
@@agatarojasparedes9052 🙂different strokes for different folks..the one reply said “embarrassing, he can’t sing” she has her opinion.. not every one agrees on everything..it really doesn’t bother me one way or another lol. Why she singled me out I haven’t a clue. .oh well his singing and his 🎵 must be worth something, it got him where he is today..so I’d say he did something right.. 🦋❤️🥲

This is the best!! Rendition of Maggie May. Makes me want to dance!!❤❤❤❤
It was glorious and a night I'll never forget.
good times those without smartphones... everyone's just having fun
I'm old.
Rod&Ron, golden couple. Love the way Ronnie plays his solo. Love Miss Mandoline!
Could you imagine standing on stage while 30,000 people sing your song to you?
Must be a dream come true
So good to see Rod AND Ronnie together again
Just like fine wine gets better with age. This is one of my favorite videos on TH-cam. Never gets old.
One of my favourites also.
Great energy.
I love how he moves.
1 of fav Rod songs. Amazing I also love a few of his songs of 2018. He’s gifted for sure !!
The bassist is doing very well here. Such an iconic bass line
0:19 👍❤️🎶🎤Rod is simply an amazing artist who you can listen to anywhere and just enjoy life.
Regarde le public !!
Cette communion, ce plaisir !!
C'est extrêmement fort. Je l'aime ce mec.
My ten year old son heard this song one time and was instantly hooked!!! Your music is timeless Sir Rod!
That is a big call. WHICH only proves how dynamic and timeless his music is. I was 15 when this song was released. 😄🤣👍🍺
