An expensive bladed jig can sure make you hesitant if you're afraid to lose it! But they are really a lot more snag and weed resistant than most anglers give them credit for. I like to work my like a swimjig a lot of times, with the Alabama shake.

It definitely took me some time to get comfortable with those high-dollar baits. A lot like the first time I fished a Lucky Craft. Lol.

All I throw is the thunder cricket. Period. It's got that different vibration than the others. Better hunting action. And if your coming over a log or something like that just point the rod tip directly towards the lure it comes thru every time. I'm not sharing the juice on the absolute best trailer but it is another strike king product. And it's killer once you figure it out.

I fish it using these techniques you mentioned. One retrieve I have found success in is similar to reeling and giving it a twitch I will reel a quick burn (2-3 quick reels) and twitch it after and let it pause and sink and a lot of times that is when I find I will get a good bite

Love the video steve... i look at losing lures as just part of the bass fishing experience... i love tossing everything into the heavy stuff.. surprisingly lots of lures are more snag proof than one thinks

Great video Steve hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving could you recommend a good gear ratio for chatterbaits

Happy Thanksgiving to your family as well! If you like to swim your bladed jig I like something in that 6.2:1 range, but if you prefer to fish is more like a jig, then a faster gear ratio is going to work well for you.

Steve I try not to miss a video love the work you put in but I have to respectfully disagree with a chatterbait around wood I have lost way to many over the years has to be a spinner bait around the wood pile 👊🎣

A spinnerbait has proven itself for many decades. Definitely a superb choice!

@@SteveRogersOutdoors but they get stuck too 💯 I lost my favorite black spinner 4 days ago LoL Hey I like the concept of bouncing off the bottom like working a jig sooo is that just kinda short hops just enough to make the blade vibrate

I don't fish chatter baits. I would, however, really like to know the name of the trailer in the thumbnail.

Me too just literally started 2 days ago . I'm all swimbaits / glides 😂. No high sticking and tip snapping risk ....

The trailer in the thumbnail is a KVD Blade Minnow. A friend of mine put me on that one. He really loves it for his trailer.
