This is basically a story about a guy whose job was to mark people for execution, and the internal struggle he wrestled with realizing he is the harbinger of their death. At the end of the first day he stares in disbelief at the stack of files he just approved and then the next day the incoming pile of folders is twice as big. He begins to lose sleep and his performance begins to wane... until the day when he himself is evaluated.. but was it all just another nightmare? quote from lead singer: "It is about shame and guilt. You look around and watch all the suffering and while you search for someone or something to blame, you end up in front of a mirror. Everything you touch, you break. Everyone you try to save you hurt and push further away."
Had the pleasure of meeting and hanging with these guys a few times. Some of the most humble, genuine guys out there. You’d never guess it but Johannes, the singer, is incredibly shy
I always go to Jack Black talking about how he has so much energy in front of a camera. It's like a switch that goes on in their brains and bam, the energy is unleashed
@@smward87 true. He didn’t go out among the people the first trip without his makeup on in full costume (it was on cruises that I’ve personally interacted with them) but the second time around, he was out in shorts and tommy bahama shirts just chilling out. It was great to see him feel part of a community enough to be himself and relax
I don't remember what the FIRST song I heard from Avatar was, but I vividly remember that this is the first one that I loved and that got me interested in hearing more. That chorus got SO stuck in my head. To this day they're my favorite band.
This band is crazy slept on. They did an album and turned the entire thing into a single very long music video. Highly suggest reacting to Avatar Country. These guys be legit as fuck.
Hadn't heard Avatar until this June when I heard their set at the Nova Rock festival in Europe. I was there to see Nightwish, and Avatar turned out to be my second favourite band of the whole festival!! Amazing performers, a full theatrical experience. Now I'm home in Australia, I have tickets to see Avatar Live in Sydney this month. Thrilled to be able to see them on 2 sides of the globe in the same year.
They are such a unique and different band, from the newest album the song "the dirt I'm buried in" is nearing 5 million views, it's a jazzy soft metal song
YES YOU FINALLY GOT AROUND TO AVATAR!!!! They have been my favorite band this year. Their latest album came out on my birthday, and I saw them in SF on May 5th (this was my first headliner for them, third time seeing them live overall) and it was without a doubt one of the top 3 shows I've been to so far! We got to meet the band outside the venue afterwards and they are all so nice! Got pics with them all, too. You need to check out more of their stuff; my favorite song this year from them has been "The Dirt I'm Buried In" from the new record.
This one is the favorite fan's choice. The band always have very cinematic videos! Johan Carlen work wih them since Black Waltz video (2011) and up to now!❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
This is a song about the NKVD (People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs; later known as KGB), how they sentenced millions to be executed or sent to Siberia to labour camps. (Country in ruins after WWII, need work hands and need it FREE.) "Bloody angel" is a NKVD officer who just approved one death of an serious "public enemy" after another. And the frontman of Avatar embodies the demon who haunts him in his mind. And as Johannes Eckerstrom said, ‘Bloody Angel’ is about shame and guilt. You look around and watch all the suffering and while you search for someone or something to blame, you end up in front of a mirror. Everything you touch, you break. Everyone you try to save you hurt and push further away. It is a sad reality of being alive, the fact that the closer you get, the more pain you risk inflicting. You try to stay in the light, spread your wings and aim for the sun. But your eyes and hands are covered in blood and you hit the ground, dragging everything that matters with you. The riff is pretty cool too." Interesting fact: Johan Carlen was inspired by Dogville and Manderlаy by Lars von Trier when building the scenery for the clip. For the first time, the band shoots their play separately. Just on a black backdrop. Filmed at the beginning of April 2014, by the way.
If this is your 1st avatar reaction you have so many more to do. They have so many great songs. You should listen to "torn apart" or "let it burn" by them next. Or if you want a serious song by them listen to "Gun"
Don't know how to get a request to you but have you listened to Mushroom Head. Very theatrical shows. Heavy riffs AND water drums. I'd never heard of water drums. Their pretty bad ass in my book

That's the point of the makeup after all. While wearing his makeup it allows him to become someone else.

thats fucking wild lol late reply to the comment. I would have figured opposite
The chunkiness of the bass is haunting
Hearing this live, seeing the energy, the crowd singing it along with them, such a killer experience. Avatar is one of the GOATs!
If you look closely his father was never happy with him (the artwork) and that disgust followed to haunt him till it manifested
So much respect for you viewing this song. Unreal band, one of the best no question.
These guys are tied for my favorite band of all time
I don't remember what the FIRST song I heard from Avatar was, but I vividly remember that this is the first one that I loved and that got me interested in hearing more. That chorus got SO stuck in my head. To this day they're my favorite band.
