    Avatar have so many different styles and tricks that make them a unique melodic death metal. They have have a very theatrical style to them. Avatar is one of my favorite bands and they continue to improve themselves.

    Album review? In so many words, *YES-*
    My personal favorite is *Feathers & Flesh (2016),* which is also a concept album. The story of an owl who goes to war to stop the sun from rising. Really *heavy,* but also *melodic!* There are a lot of songs from that album that I listen to on a daily basis. It's just.. so good! I cannot recommend this one enough. If you're not going to react to it, at least listen to it in your free time please!
    Other great ones are Black Waltz (2012), Hail the Apocalypse (2014) and Avatar Country (2018)!
    But whichever one you pick, I'm already really excited for your reactions and I'll be there to watch it! Just enjoy your Avatar journey and welcome to Avatar country 🤘

    Avatar is quite unique in a strange way. They sound like a lot of band (sometimes like Queen, or Rammstein, or Manson, or In Flames etc) they have a lot of styles but it's always "Avatar-ish". You should try :
    - A Statue of the king : th-cam.com/video/FrvmURFvacc/w-d-xo.html
    - Black Waltz : th-cam.com/video/pqDnFUWzftk/w-d-xo.html
    - Let it burn : th-cam.com/video/6djKy7CEKYg/w-d-xo.html
    - Welcome to avatar country : th-cam.com/video/zfqdCXz8Yww/w-d-xo.html
    - Hail the Apocalypse : th-cam.com/video/zwTrw24NYnE/w-d-xo.html (first song of the live)
    - Torn Apart : th-cam.com/video/7Bh1quySeI4/w-d-xo.html (i don't put the clip because it misses the great bridge of the song)
    And with this you have, i think, a good overview of the band.

    You ever try to make a playlist that's just your favorite songs, then come to find out how lopsided your love for some bands is compared to others?
    When I did recently, I ended up with 59 Avatar songs on that playlist. Their library is deep and spectacular. Can't go wrong with 'Out of Our Minds' or 'A Secret Door', 'Hail the Apocalypse', 'Vultures Fly' - I could go on and on and on.
    In a fairer world these guys would be crushing arenas and massive festivals worldwide, not just in Europe. They play smaller venues in the states, and if you can get to those shows... man, what a massive massive treat they are.

  • @curtishanson728
    @curtishanson728 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    So you nailed the "In Flames" reference. These guys are from the same area. The Avatar full metal album which would be a overall look at them would be "Legend of Avatar: A Metal Odyssey" 45 minute run time. Themed that entire album nicely. I also highly recommend the Black Waltz single and album is equally impressive.

    Fantastic choice! and glad to see you guys will keep checking them out, and agreed I love how audible and heavy the bass is, also this is one of the few rare songs that has no solo but they tend to do some killer solos. And I’m glad it won over the one of you guys that didn’t like the dirt i’m buried in haha! Looking forward to your journey with this band, and Hail the Apocalypse would definitely be a great next choice (Fun fact, they actually opened for in flames for a scandinavian tour back when they were much younger, I think 2007, since they’re both from Gothenburg)
    As for their names: Johannes Eckerström (vocals), Tim Öhrström and Jonas Jarlsby (dual guitars, you can tell them apart easy, Jonas has dreads), Henrik Sandelin (Bass), John Alfredsson (Drums)

    They have been doing festival tours for years and have opened for many other bands like Trivium, Baby Metal, and recently Iron Maiden. They are very underrated. As they have done their own headlining tours they have had some killer shows. One time I saw them they had '68, Dance With the Dead, and Devin Townsend on acoustic open for them. They put on an amazing show. They opened for Trivium the same year that Matt Heafy had his child while out on tour. Johannes filled in and sang a few songs for the Trivium set. Next song you should react to is Hail the Apocalypse. Absolute banger!

You mentioned an album review. If you all do like Hail the Apocalypse,which I am sure you will, I would recommend just doing a review of that whole album. There is one song in german but it doesnt matter because it sounds awesome and has a wicked solo. Johannes the vocalist is from Sweden but his mother is German.

    I think you've got the right idea for "Hail the Apocalypse" next. If you want a great piece for their amazing live stuff look up Live @ Club LA, Destin Florida, "Glory to our King/Legend of The King/let it Burn" on TH-cam. Another well produced and directed video is "A Secret Door" featuring Corey Taylor from Slipknot doing the whistling portions.

    If it wasn't clear... this song is about a guy who was involved with the Nazi death camps and all the horror that he saw and was involved with. He is crying out for death to deliver him from the pain that he caused and saw.

  • @Ginger_Monster
    @Ginger_Monster ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This one is the favorite fan's choice.)) Duuude, The Dirt I'm Buried In made just in spirit of 80's and The King Welcomes you to Avatar Country personally. Try that stuff.))
    This is a song about the NKVD (People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs; later known as KGB), how they sentenced millions to be executed or sent to Siberia to labour camps. "Bloody angel" is a NKVD officer who just approved one death of an "public enemy" after another. And the frontman of Avatar embodies the demon who haunts him in his mind.
    And ss Johannes said, ‘Bloody Angel’ is about shame and guilt. You look around and watch all the suffering and while you search for someone or something to blame, you end up in front of a mirror. Everything you touch, you break. Everyone you try to save you hurt and push further away. It is a sad reality of being alive, the fact that the closer you get, the more pain you risk inflicting. You try to stay in the light, spread your wings and aim for the sun. But your eyes and hands are covered in blood and you hit the ground, dragging everything that matters with you. The riff is pretty cool too."
    Interesting fact: Johan Carlen was inspired by Dogville and Manderlаy by Lars von Trier when building the scenery for the clip. For the first time, the band shoots their play separately. Just on a black backdrop.
    Check out Smells like a Freakshow, New Land, The Great Pretender (official video not on official page for some reason), Going Hunting, Night Never Ending, Vultures Fly, Tower, Construction of Souls. Black Waters, Scream Until you Wake, In Napalm, Child, Tooth, Beak and Claw, Legend of the King, Wormhole.
