This is why I always bring 2 stacks of 64 torches whenever I go caving. Place them around as you explore and if you want to leave just follow them back out! They also stop Zombies and Skeleton Archers from appearing behind you.
J amie I lost my 93 yr old Gma in Walmart, I did 4 full laps around the store before coming across her looking at eye glasses near the checkout stands lol
Imagine if the sunlight was all an illusion so was you getting out, and it turns out you were still back in that cave knocked out after hitting your head on a rock with your flashlight near dead.
And just imagine as you lay there thinking about how you decided to save $3 by buying the cheaper made-in-China lamp, the one with the "16 hour per charge guarantee" so you only bought one as it was only going to be a couple of hours exploring, and suddenly you realize the lamp is getting dimmer after just 2 hours and you still have no idea how to find your way out! So thinking fast you switch the lamp OFF to save the battery while you think of a solution in the dark, and then you flip the switch "ON" and nothing happens!!! Now you also have to think about how to get a refund on that cheap lamp!!!
Hell, alone or with partners....John Jones went with his brother, and there was a team of people trying to rescue him, and to this day he is still stuck upside down in an 18 inch space that lead to his doom....no thanks, bro. I’ll pass.
InvictuZ right?! I’m so disoriented right now? I figure he’s got a helmet cam so if he’s looking at his hands he’s probably crawling but it seems like he’s crawling upwards and isn’t that technically climbing?
Actually this happens all the time, finding the cave entrance is often harder than navigating the cave itself even when you have a guide book. Most overdue parties that cave rescue are contacted about are down to the group having entered the cave far later than they expected because they spent ages looking for the entrance. A small hole in the middle of a large moor can be tricky to spot even when you've been there before!
Plenty I'm sure, lots of animals too have gotten lost in caves, there bones laying there for hundred or thousands of years. The worst was that chunky guy who got stuck upside down in the nutty putty cave, and for hours and hours rescue people tried to get him out but he died and they left him there and sealed the cave up!
Can you imagine after crawling through these tight passages and finally seeing the outside light only to find out that the entrance to outside is too small for him to squeeze through?
That's why cavers always carry back up lights. It's also considered bad practice to go solo, in fact the minimum group size should be four. So if someone does have an accident one person can stay with them and two go for help. Having two people go for help means they can help each other if they have any problems on the way out.
Underwater cave diving, the caves have a "main" guideline, a strong cord through the main passages. If you leave the main line, you connect a reel to that line, and place a plastic arrow pointing out, why isn't this done in confusing parts of dry caves?
Well it would have been filmed differently yeah there's better ones if you search there was one that was completely terrifying to watch I think there were Russian
My cat Midnight loved this video for some reason. He watched all of it and was tapping the screen. This is the first youtube video he’s ever been interested in for the 6 years he’s been alive rn. You deserve a metal.
Invest in glow sticks, I would leave them like bread crumbs so I can find my way out. It might cost a little but watch this video and ask yourself how mad you would be if you got really lost and were dying in a cave like this because you didn't want to use a little money.
The way you look around before making a move, gives us viewers the chance to decide which tunnel we'd choose... makes it more horrifying. All I know is I wouldn't go in any tunnel I felt squished in.
Bromethius88 didn't realize how bad he had it sitting in bed when I read about him. Then when I went for a run and was dizzy and lightheaded as hell did I realize how lucky I was I'm not wedged upside down alone in a 18 by 10in hole unable to move. Jesus fucking christ
Whenever I have nightmares I often dream of getting stuck inside a cavern or a really narrow pipe system of sorts. I wake up sweaty, my pillow and sheets soaking wet and feeling forever grateful for it only being a dream. I cannot comprehend how people are willing to put themselves in situations like this. Absolutely appalling.
If that ever happened to me, when I got out I'd just start screaming at the top of my lungs. I don't know why but that just seems like it would feel right in that moment.
I live on the west side of Lake Apopka, where the springs that feed the lake are. So many divers have lost their lives diving in those springs. Diving in the springs here in Florida is pretty near suicide. I don’t know how many divers have successfully navigated those Apopka springs, if any? I’ve been living here for more than 30 years and it seemed like once or twice a year some divers would be lost to those springs, never to be found. I think that there are some underwater rivers there at the aquifer and one wrong move and they’re swept away by the currents. What a horrible way to die! They probably end up pushed against some rock face, unable to swim against the pressure, just waiting there until your oxygen runs out. I can think of better hobbies. There are also some monster sized gators around those spring heads, we’re talking 13 or 14 footers! I think the springs themselves are a far greater risk than any of the gators though. Even the gators are smart enough to avoid going down inside those caves.
I'm sure he learned from his mistake, but I have to commend him for remaining calm and collected and slowly working his way out of trouble. If he just succumbed to panic he might have gotten himself even more lost and disoriented.
As soon as I saw those tunnels branching I was thinking trail of breadcrumbs, no point in 2 people getting lost in a cave. Overall cool lava tubes, glad you made it out safe.

Then, we turned around and almost immediately found it. I was super relieved and from that time forward, I always carried a lot more food, water and lights/batteries with me.

Victorian Sculptures That animal fact made me feel sad...
There have been a few bodies found, skeletons as well.
When the expression: "The light at the end of the tunnel" applies so hard here, wow scary stuff
why don't cavers bring a large spool of fishing line with them, tie it off at the entrance, then follow it back out when they're done?

at least its a meter away out and a breathable air. Finding pointed rock to use as excavator
His 2 friends relaxing outside the cave was like, hey does Bob no his way out... Nah let him figure it out.
This is why you shouldn't cave alone. Additional members increase the likelihood of remembering the route you took to get in.
I always remember how to get out.. when I turn TH-cam off and go to bed 😂
Got lost in a cave on my own myself once. Its one hell of a feeling. Always go with others
