I'm watching a lot of these videos. I've come to realize I don't want to hit rock bottom. I want to change before I do things worse than I already have or hit a point lower than my lowest so far. Thanks for the video upload and for sharing this story.
I didn’t wait for bottom either, just have to admit you are an addict and do something about it. I started by committing to 30 days, then 90, then a year, now I am at 13 months and I am shooting for 2021.
I'm 32 also, and been drinking heavy since I was 16. Thinking about it now, I must of had a problem with it soon after my first drink. Majority of the time has been drinking alone, which turns into alcoholism. And the shocking thing is, couldn't say I've ever really enjoyed alcohol. Tastes like shit!. And that breathalyser in the car is a brilliant idea for alcoholics!.
I didn’t want that breathalyzer at first, but I’m pretty sure it was the first tool to save my life before AA. Haha thanks for watching, and stay tuned!!
God bless alcoholics anonymous. It was good to hear your story keep up the great work and be an inspiration to others. This program is definitely sent it saved my life, I wouldn't want it any other way
It’s a lot of work and dedication, but the end result is absolute bliss! You can do this! My story is just one. Every one starts from 0! Thanks for watching!
Alcohol addiction comes about when a certain chemical in the brain of an Alcoholic is not able to process.. it's the chemicals job to break Alcohol down.. a person with this condition is almost always a problem drinker or worse an Alcoholic.. the drunkard is looked down upon by all of society.. but now we know those poor Bastard were not to blame.. isn't that wonderful It is for me.. I was a terrible Alcoholic Now I'm happy and sober going on 7 years.. If you find that Alcohol may be causing discord Get help..no excuses,, it's hard at first and we fail a lot but gradually most of us get it.. Life is Good...
Man you couldn’t be more right. I had to reach a low bottom before realizing I needed major help. Alcohol took over my life, allowing me to destroy the few wonderful relationships I had. I’ll be two years sober Nov. 3rd. The road was super rough at first, but life has taken a turn. Congrats on 7 years! What a wonderful milestone! Thanks for watching!
I need to stop drinking… even after trying an at home detox, going to some AA meetings (where I cry throughout), trying The Sinclair method prescription etc I’m trying to convince myself I can control it and I’m not really an alcoholic because I don’t have withdrawals or drink all day. My boyfriend says I don’t need to go to AA doesn’t want me to go he says we can control my drinking ourselves. He doesn’t drink much but think he want us still to be able to enjoy occasional drinks on some weekends together so if I went to AA we wouldn’t be able to do that or maybe he doesn’t want to be with someone labelled an alcoholic. I hate myself as a person when I’m drunk but I love the feeling, one is never enough and to drink until I pass out to sleep. I don’t want to be a drunk I can be quite mean and say things I don’t mean. Never really really bad but I have been quite hurtful and regret it the next day. I can’t imagine living a life without ever having a drink or telling everyone I’m an alcoholic. I’m so sad
It’s funny, cause when I started thinking about getting sober, most of my friends were like “do you get the shakes” “You don’t drink every day. You’re not an alcoholic.” It’s not up to them. If you have any inclination that alcohol is making you feel bad, angry, stressed..those are signs that you might drink too much. It’s not up to others. If you don’t want to drink, then make the decision to stop. When I decided to stop drinking the people that loved me the most respected that decision. Getting sober, or even drinking less, is a healthy and honest decision. So make that decision for your self. The hard part is sticking to it. This takes time and discipline. Everything else is just a symptom of sobriety. I.E. happiness, better sleep, less anxiety, better relationships. You can do this! Distance your self from negative things and people. Set healthy boundaries with the ones you love, and go for it! Keep moving forward!!
@@TellYourStory Thankyou so much for replying it means a lot as I’m feeling lost right now as over thinking. I’m going to try drinking less for now staying sober during the week maybe just once at the weekend or alternate weekends.
@@TellYourStory I’ve been drinking since 21 and I’m just turning 25 soon. I’ve drank occasionally early on, it wasn’t up until I was 23 during COVID. I would drink heavily and I would buy 1.75 l bottles frequently and would drink them relatively fast. I’ve just recently slowed down my drinking because I’m afraid of my health. I’m afraid if I’ve damaged my liver or pancreas.
Man do a quick google search for peer support specialists in your area! Maybe do a search for AA Meetings! I’ve always told my self, even if I got nothing from a meeting..it was an hour or two a day away from my worst vices, and free coffee! You can do this!!
the person conducting the interview has any insight about the pain an alcoholic goes through? made me sick to hear her laugh about him ending up in jail and the overall tone by showing disrespect! and this made me stop watching the whole video
Thanks for watching. Just so you guys know, the interviewer was my wife. She and I both are addicts and alcoholics! We’ve come a long way in our journey of sobriety! She knows all too well about the struggles I went through. That woman is a trooper, beautiful, and the love of my life!
Thanks for watching! The interviewer was quite nervous, hence the nervous laughter. Check out her story if you’d like! She’s a drug addict and alcoholic too. th-cam.com/video/C__iMoqJ9v4/w-d-xo.html
@@coariestephens3895 She sure sounds like it. And a (cigarette) smoker, too! Yuck. Sounds very rough. Nason, why make addiction (even worse than yours) the center of your (future) life.
Where's the medical proof of the 'allergy of the mind'? It is about will. If you have the will to recover then you have the will to start and keep drinking. As someone who chose to drink to dangerous levels I really have grown cynical about all the gurus and 'professionals' who advocate these newly created diagnoses.
I agree there is no “physical proof” that alcohol is an allergy, but maybe think of the term as a metaphor for “will power”. Substitute one for the other and now practice, practice, and practice some more the ability to put the bottle down. Now we are all in the same game! Working on our selves, and the will power to move forward!!
To most , weed is not considered, “drugs” when it comes to abuse (everyone is different I know ) but drugs usually include actual drugs lol . Alcohol is a drug btw
This guy wasn't a real alcoholic... Anyone knows that any true alcoholic (unless they're a closet drinker) they've had their ass beat and jumped a few times while drunk, and any alcoholic has had DUIs... This guy's story sounds so melancholy compared to my story... Been jumped and put in a coma for 4 days in ICU, had 3 DUIs, been in the hospital for alcohol DT seizures probably 20 times... interview me if you want a real alcoholic story
@@TellYourStory i didn't mean to come off as a prick, it's just your whole story seems like you're just the guy that played beer pong a little too much in college but if you're story doesn't involve truly destroying your life and almost dying from seizures coming off of it then i just can't consider it a really serious alcohol problem... Now i do think since your story is kinda soft that it should be shown in schools to help young kids from getting caught up in the drinking scene in college

Good to hear you’re still sober mate. Thanks for sharing part of your story 👍🏼
Hope you're doing well, Nason. I've been sober from alcohol since January 1 this year.

I don't like the interviewer. She sounds cold
Exactly what I thought
Me too.
She also laughs when he says he spent a day in jail, she likes bad boys, idiot
She sounds like a smoking addict. She should kick her own addiction/s before interviewing others about their (kicked) addictions.

How many years did this go on for and if it’s affected his health?
I was a heavy drinker for about a decade. My health luckily has never declined due to prolonged alcoholism.
