    Good content for sure, but Randy really should stress how INSANELY overpopulated Colorado is these days with hunters. It's not mentioned but Colorado allocates over 84000 elk tags and over 77000 deer tags during the first draw cycle alone. Colorado doesn't release the number of OTC elk tags bought every year but it far surpasses what is given out in the draw. You're better off buying half a cow from a custom butcher and watching Randy's hunting videos on TH-cam and you'll actually save money (no joke) and you won't have to deal with entitled mountain bikers or dangerous hunters holding a high powered rifle for the first time. Not to mention the license revenue generated from hunters is going directly to pay for wolf reintroduction. That's a hard pill to swallow. Sorry Colorado, you're not getting my out of state money anymore.

      Randy is the reason Colorado is overpopulated with hunters. He’s been telling the world to go to Colorado cuz it’s the “easiest state to be able to elk hunt in”

Who cares if there are out of state hunters all over sure does it kinda suck running into other hunters but that is part of the game sure it sucks a little bit but it sucks just as much running into local hunters. What pisses me off most about hunting now is all the greed everyone has "this is my spot, these are my animals, why did you shoot that should've let it go" etc etc. Just enjoy the hunt and hunt and shoot the way you want to.

    When Colorado combined the Parks and Wildlife departments changing it from the Division of Wildlife to Colorado Parks and Wildlife it all became about money. The state is passing gun control laws right and left yet there are adds all over U Tube about CPW and all the money it brings to the State. Eight dollars per application just to apply, it has risen from three dollars. Game wardens used to be biologists with six years of education now they are just more cops wanting to write those tickets and get that money. Game wardens used to be members of the community looking out for the wildlife with the help of the community. Not so much any more.

    • @kyezek524
      @kyezek524 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It will push nonresidents to OTC elk since it will be harder for them to draw tags. These units are typically overcrowded already anyways. However, if you hunt seasons outside of OTC seasons, like muzzleloader or 1st rifle, you won't notice any extra hunting pressure. That's the problem for nonresidents though, it will be harder for them to draw those tags. That being said, I'm a resident so I Iove the change.

      @Randy_Savage_ohyeah they aren't lowering the number of people buying over the counter. They are removing areas they can hunt. The remaining areas are now going to get jammed with all the hunters. That will cause overcrowding in those units, too. Thus, they will be removing from over the counter, too.

    • @kyezek524
      @kyezek524 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@northernoutdooradventures3883 The reason why they removed some units from OTC is due to heavy winter kill in the NW part of the state. This is only suppose to be temporary but I do think unlimited OTC is stupid. It just creates too many hunters during 2nd & 3rd rifle seasons, as well as archery season.

    IMO, if you’re a non-resident hunter and want take bull elk it’s actually cheaper (when thinking about cost per elk harvested) to hire a high quality/expensive guide at this point. They have access to private land, which means bigger elk and higher success rates, and often guaranteed tags. On state public land hunts you pay endless fees (if you can ever get a tag), need a truck, thousands of dollars in additional gear (e.g., side-by-side, good spotting scope, etc.) and hunt on generally marginal, heavy pressured land with smaller bulls. With a guide you need minimal equitment, usually only a rifle, hunting clothes only, and coolers, don’t pay endless fees (to states and application services) and some have success rates in the 90%+ range.

    Look man I realize you are in a corner here. But the idea of “growing the pie” for animals that require 1000s of acres of habitat while simultaneously increasing popularity of a huge hunting population and battling record immigration to the western states is statistically a pipe dream. It’s unrealistic at best. You all need to consider your next move. Don’t ask me because I don’t know what it is, but this model of recruiting new enthusiasm for western hunting isn’t working if any conclusion can be drawn from the events of the last 10 years. I have never hunted a point state.
    How do you get points?

    • @BrandonVelarde
      @BrandonVelarde 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For Colorado, if you apply and you don't draw your 1st choice hunt code, you get a preference point. That means you can draw a 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice hunt code and still get a preference point. Some species like Sheep and Moose, you have to pay a fee to get a point but for Deer, Elk, or Antelope, no extra fee.

      @@BrandonVelardeu can also simply put in the preference point code as 1st choice

    For the amount charged, I quit hunting Colorado. The amount of steak and burgers I buy local is a far better deal. In the next 20 years, expect half of hunters just to vanish. Less and less are hunting every year now.

    The problem in colorado is the same as all the other western states, that's the people that are sending in for 5 to ten different states. Kinda like the guy that drew 4 bull tags last year. If you draw a tag for a species in one state you shouldn't be able to hunt the same species in any other state.

    Well, don't worry, when the wolves get going, you won't see any animals anymore because they will decimate them all, including your stinking cows. 😅

      Lol ok bro. Species that have coexisted for hundreds of thousands of years, but all of a sudden the wolves are going to "decimate" them all

    I don’t get all the people getting their panties in twisted over non residents, they pay a lot of money which keeps my tag cost low. Most non resident hunters don’t even see elk, let alone harvest one, I’ve been fortunate enough to fill otc elk tags every year, people b*tching about the orange army are not going deep enough. Majority of the time I see non residents hunting they are road hunting.
