Worst thing that changed for me was the animation. The earlier seasons while nothing to write home about it still felt lively. This "only one is acting" and very linear sequence of interactions is so annoying. In my eyes, the Griffins look and act like robots after S12. And no story line! Remeber the episode "familiy Gay"? The horse flying thru the Griffin's kitchen at the end of the episode was a brilliant move, everyone forgot about this horse. The density of content and story telling in these early episodes was atonishing. And yes, Peter is not a very intelligent person, but he had a heart, he was able to develop complex feelings such as regret. But now he turned into season 23 Homer. It's so sad, I loved Familiy Guy really.
@@paulmajano I know The Cleveland Show is garbage compare to Family Guy. Even the modern Family Guy episodes sucked. It gets worse and worse every time this show keeps going on.
Family Guy sucks now because Seth McFarlane wasn’t apart of the writing anymore. These writers idea of comedy are juvenile, cynical, forth wall breaking, character deconstructing, post-modern trash that dwells in modern things nowadays. Plus whenever they tackle current events or topics they’re either late to the punch or mishandles the nuances of that topic. The characters are so bad now, probably the only redeeming characters left are Stewie and Joe. The rest are now awful. Especially Peter Griffin. There's also 2 other major problems with modern family guy 1: The EXCESSIVE amount of gore. I mean, i can handle it, but i feels its rather unnecessary to add in so much gore. 2: Those scenes that just drag on for no reason. Its boring and you just want it to end already. 1: This. I mean seriously. It seems like the writers now are just binge playing Mortal Kombat before working on an episode, with all the gore and no payoff. A better example of what they try to do but fail at is in an older episode where Peter accidentally blows his fingers off with fireworks and while searching for one, Herbert's Dog Jesse tries to eat it before Peter can retrieve it. It wasn't excessively gross and was kind of funny. 2: Yea... most of the jokes are the modern "Conway Twitty jokes". Lazy writing imo.
Yeah, the problem with modern Family Guy is that it relies on shock value too much, it's too violent, not funny and boring. It has became one of those shows which are "adult" because it contains tons of gore and "haha, you said penis". It's really sad what has became of adult animation. Old Family Guy was so awesome, it's on par with old Simpsons and South Park, as well as other great stuff such as King of the Hill and the like. Modern Family Guy is so bad it makes me scream. Like I said, not funny, boring as all hell, violent to an excessive degree and the writing has became trash.

As they are trying to get back, they learn that they have changed, but also explain how sometimes things need to change, for better or worse. Lois may not be one of my favorite mothers, but at least she was better as a caring housewife who wanted what’s best for her family. Nowadays she’s nothing but a shrill, callous nag who’s as evil as Peter. Two of the worst things she did that I know of was when she threw literally everything and everyone out of the house because she believed that less things in her life means less stress, and the most horrible (and memed by everyone) being her hypnotizing Peter into pleasing her in bed whenever he hears a news broadcast jingle. Though a recent episode where she and Meg bond on vacation did bring her back to the “caring mother” quality.

i can definitely tell you worked very hard on this video and i just wanted to say props you pulled it off very successfully and you implemented alot of funny jokes i have to say if you keep up this content i cant imagine your yt not blowing up!
To be fair to the writers of Family Guy, there's only so much wholesome story you can do. There's only so many ideas to be played out that way. Seth, in a special that used to appear on Netflix as apart of one of the seasons, said that Family Guy was always meant to be a modern day All in the Family. There's just only so much you can do with that, especially after 20 seasons. Honestly I'm surprised they were able to keep up good story telling as long as they did, and it should speak to the talent of the people who wrote the first 10 or so seasons. My favorite episode of Family Guy, is Back to the Pilot which came in season 10. That episode was absolute gold, and did great with the Brian and Stewie friendship. They can still tell those great stories; there just isn't as much fruit on the tree anymore, so to speak.
Yeah family Guy just stopped being a project. He really cared for pretty much the second he started American Dad. That's how I see it. At least the jokes are entirely just cutaway, gags or reused and it's just not funny
The first three seasons were good but I wouldn’t say they were the show’s prime, I would argue seasons 4-7 was the peak since it was more distinct from the Simpsons, and it had more freedom.
Gotta say, pretty good retrospect on how the show has evolved. Tons of these types of videos will just misconstrued their points and blame cutaways and "shock humour" for the reason modern Family Guy "sucks", its nice to finally see a video that's fair to the newer seasons that doesn't absolutely nitpick them.
For instance, all those unnecessary and cheap jokes about butts, farts and poop just to fill up the time. In my country we call them "pee & poo' jokes to indicate that it is at the level of a 6 yr old. It's like the makers don't care about delivering good comedy.
Seasons 9-15 was prime family guy. Advanced animations, changes in voices, griffinization, and bad writing make 2016-Now plain garbage. But saying the first few seasons were the best is outrageous.
After you watch Bojack Horseman you look at Family Guy (Peter in particular) and think wow, this feels really lazy. Old family guy is funny, but after like between 2009-2012 that's when family guy became unlikable. Peter Griffin is not the lovable idiot with a heart of Gold, he's just an asshole who never faces consequences. I know it's a cartoon, but when the Jokes and gags become mean spirited that's when it lost the audience. I watch Modern family guy and I'm board because the jokes feel flat and the characters are not likable.
Exactly, just for clarification: the problem isn’t unlikable characters themselves, the problem is when the writers expect you to root for the unlikable character even when they don’t deserve it. Basically, it all boils down to self-awareness in my opinion. Take for example Bojack Horseman and Walter White. They’re both unlikable but that’s the whole point because you’re not supposed to root for them.
I don't know if I can call it that black and white either. You both mentioned dramas for instance (okay Bojack as a straight drama is a stretch but I digress) and in more straightforward comedies you usually are expected to be on the characters side by default, wanting them to get through the situation and come back next week to do the funny things you like to see them do. When I watch Seinfeld I really love hanging out with the characters. I can somewhat relate to Jerry and Elaine's cynicism and see a tragic humanity in George but they're so awful I never actually would hang out with them. They still wouldn't be as funny or as interesting if they were nice though.
On further reflection I suppose Seinfeld episodes don't tend to have happy endings, but the characters always survive their failures and remain the same as they were before because you don't want them to grow and become better people nor do you want them condemned. You just want to watch these shallow dicks act like shallow dicks every week and laugh at them while weirdly enjoying their company
Granted I'm not rooting for them to succeed but I'm also not rooting for them to be held accountable either. I look forward to every horrible thing they inflict on those around them who don't deserve it. Shows like Bojack and Breaking Bad have the characters grow and change for better and for worse and feel very different to the characters on sitcoms, cartoons, episodic action/adventure shows or other 'hang out' tv
it's not that the newer episodes are bad but after season 8 or season 9 there's a level of creativity and originality lost. i feel the same way about the simpsons and south park. they all have transitioned into something different with variations. family guy after season 2010 felt lost in the generation gap trying to appeal to the tweens of that era. hard to believe those tweens are quickly approaching their late 20s. i haven't watched an episode of family guy in years, and have no clue if it's decent. there's so many episodes that when i want a family guy fix i usually find a few episodes before season 10 and am more than satisfied.
Well he's still psychopathic but however he's not like he used to be back when he was first introduced as an evil genius plotting to take over the world
Exactly the one-sided political arguments. The reused Stewie jokes and The caught away gags just entirely ruined the show. Now the jokes either revolve around a idiotic joke against Muslims or Christians that has been reused 50 times or a cutaway gag
The newer episodes seem to follow the same formula that American Dad had for a while where a random character would appear to make a joke near the start of the episode, then near the end of the episode that character comes back to repeat the joke, difference is, the FG jokes arent funny. They also keep going back to jomes from older epsiodes, when the show was better. It's lazy.
They had to move with the times dude, muricans are just crazy apples these days. The endearing qualities are a thing of the past, just as they are in modern society.
ngl i was probably one of the few people who watched the critic, and i mainly did it because i didnt like actual tv funniman like the generic rude guy with the beard.
@drakestallworth3621 South Park is one of the best animated satires around, their topical humour is always on point. American Dad has more more relevant jokes, character development and funnier storylines whereas Family Guy hardly ever does. Futurama? No words!! Anyway, these shows always have interesting plots for most episodes.
And that's the reason why I refrain from watching modern Family Guy Seasons 14-18 are atrociously bad! Quagmire went from a perverted sex crazed guy to a boring guy, who is all dried up from saying his iconic catchphrase, "Giggity" over the years, and he's nothing, but a downgraded massive shame of a character now Quagmire is everyone's least favorite character due to the loss of his funniness modern Family Guy is a giant bag of dog poop covered in nuclear toxic waste, just like how the year 2020 is modern Family Guy sucks, these episodes are terrible, they're not hilarious don't watch it stay away from them I extremely recommend you stick to old school Family Guy it's very funny way better than modern Family Guy even Seasons 19-22 are a lot worse it's going all the way down into the negative zone I hope Family Guy is finally cancelled for good after all these years 6:19 😔🙏🏾
Exactly The characters are genuine, just hollow chills each character is used for one joke. Quagmire went from being the pervert to just the annoying guy that you see every once in awhile do some out-of-pocket thing that isn't even funny. The old man is literally just the pedophile character and there's literally nothing else. Cleveland is just for the racial jokes and Joe is just for the jokes on disabled people. That is one of my biggest criticisms on the show. The humor is split up into bits. One character doesn't have multiple jokes it's just a hollow shell for one specific type of humor and that is all they are used for and that could be used for a show that is at Max five seasons long. But when you keep it running for over 20 seasons then it's just not going to work and I just listed the Peter and the side characters. Lois is the basic mom who acts caring but crazy sometimes she's basically just a different version of Marge, Meg is literally just a character that they use as a punching bag in nearly every show has one at this point. Stewie is the smart baby that has been reused for who knows how many times and Chris is possibly genuinely the only original character in the entire show

" hey Lois, that reminds me of that time I was roasted by slushhhhh!"
2:03 i agree that bit was super sad
The first three seasons were good but I wouldn’t say they were the show’s prime, I would argue seasons 4-7 was the peak since it was more distinct from the Simpsons, and it had more freedom.
Great video! I was surprised to see you’re a small creator. This is really well executed!
6:29 That image is SO true
Reotardo DiCaprio! XD Okay, I'm gonna borrow that one at some point in the future, please and thank you, that's really funny.
I think he might change the title
Seasons 9-15 was prime family guy. Advanced animations, changes in voices, griffinization, and bad writing make 2016-Now plain garbage. But saying the first few seasons were the best is outrageous.
FG like the simpsons social commentary are so one sided that they miss the point of some people. Brian and Lisa are too similar.
Tbh im fine with charactees being unlikeable. So long as they're funny. See many british shows
Exactly, just for clarification: the problem isn’t unlikable characters themselves, the problem is when the writers expect you to root for the unlikable character even when they don’t deserve it.
4:07 lmao no they didn’t. All of those subversions were done better if not as well in the other shows. These aren’t profound subversions 💀
Glenn: rants about how brian is worse then him
Peter: quagmire you're a r*pist
Could you do a video about the original All That Nickelodeon show.
love ur honesty abt view time and clicks on ur video everyones too scared to admit that that actually matters bc it literally does
you should have way more views for the quality of video this is amazing work
They turned the baby gay.
Well he's still psychopathic but however he's not like he used to be back when he was first introduced as an evil genius plotting to take over the world
lol this is one of those times you’re glad you got click baited. Yeah old family guy was better but I still love the new stuff. Good vid
the only good episodes of family guy are those from 1-3 and everything after is dogshit
Hey I notice that u used a Sonic the Hedgehog sound effect in this video, very good, Sonic the Hedgehog is the greatest thing ever created
Thoughts on Season 4-6?
Why is the algorithm doing him like this?
It's the super left, lgb, communist ideals pushed down your throat by Brian and stewe that killed the show for me.
Exactly the one-sided political arguments. The reused Stewie jokes and The caught away gags just entirely ruined the show. Now the jokes either revolve around a idiotic joke against Muslims or Christians that has been reused 50 times or a cutaway gag
Ooh, a Critic video? Yes, please! (I said "Peas," Jay!)
Family guy’s characters just hate everyone and everything it’s just not enjoyable
note to self dont this when high!
It's lazy.
What’s the background music
I love your humor bro it’s a vibe lol
because it was unnecessary to start the series in the first place ...
They had to move with the times dude, muricans are just crazy apples these days. The endearing qualities are a thing of the past, just as they are in modern society.
Hmmm
Characters reduced/simplified ?
Makes me think of simulacra. 7:18
5:49 it’s not
Very well articulated
ngl i was probably one of the few people who watched the critic, and i mainly did it because i didnt like actual tv funniman like the generic rude guy with the beard.
I say it was good until season 5
South Park better peak comedy animation
Sigma much
Amazing video a lot of griffinization with the editing and commentary 😂😂
2:26 it’s fine to say the word when it’s not meant as an insult. It’s only wrong if it’s meant to be used as a derogatory insult
This show just needs to die already!! But of course that's never going to happen!!
This show always sucked! People are just now realizing it,
I find it hard to believe that family guy does good commentary when Trump guy exists
I’m stinky
Always farting ,that is not funny!
I'm still hate family guy and this is for charlie hebdo je suis charlie i am charlie
Because it has always sucked
Family Guy is already dead
nah!!! it sucks now..
They all suck
Family Guy sucks the most.
@@jamircox8458 Sigh. Okay, I will admit Family Guy had something in earlier seasons.
I'm mad at family guy and familia guy still suck! and i hate family guy!!!
Season 12 or 13 are the last good family guy seasons
Just came here to instantly dislike.
Family Guy sacrificed character arcs for humor, and I’m grateful. I want a show thats just all jokes to balance wirh my deeper shows
"Deeper shows." That's why I stick with American Dad, South Park and Futurama.
@@CarrieBradshawSATC why
@drakestallworth3621 South Park is one of the best animated satires around, their topical humour is always on point. American Dad has more more relevant jokes, character development and funnier storylines whereas Family Guy hardly ever does. Futurama? No words!! Anyway, these shows always have interesting plots for most episodes.
There were also some upsetting things on the show I blacklisted
Stewie is the smart baby that has been reused for who knows how many times and Chris is possibly genuinely the only original character in the entire show
@@BronzeCat1 Which season of Family Guy has all these god awful modern episodes?
@@AngelicWarmheartedNinja pretty much everything past season 5. I mean I guess season 12 and below is semi-acceptable but if you want brutal honesty, anything past season 5 in my opinion is genuinely unwatchable
Yes!! Yes!! Absolutely right! Praise to you slushhhh! Seriously, good work. 👏👏👏👏👏🥹🥹🥹
