Even knowing now that Bayle is the reason for Placi's injuries, there are still a lot of interesting observations here. I _do_ think the Bolt does still belong to Gransax, because it's just SO much bigger than Placi, but I wonder if he was the _first_ wielder, and taught Placi, or maybe it was the other way around? Either way, I definitely agree that Gransax has to be alive. If only he still had his eyes, so we could know for sure. Banuune mein liebchen! ❤ This was SO GOOD!! Really entertaining and provoking, but light and funny too which is so refreshing. I love this theory you’ve convinced me! Justice for Gransax, another causality in Marika’s sick twisted games
This was an excellent first attempt at Elden Ring theorizing! Your editing is superb, and I think you have a knack for creative thinking. While I disagree with your conclusion, your initial premise is compelling just on its own: Gransax isn’t dead. I think we can take the “facts” of events at face value: that Gransax attacked Leyndell, but we should question the motivations of our characters. For instance, the War of the Ancient Dragons gives rise to the Ancient Dragon Cult and the Malformed Dragon Knights. Within the culture of the Erdtree, a “new” religious cult is created. The Ancient Dragons are beings of rock and stone, their lives are nearly eternal and when you live a life eternal days and years look alike. Perhaps Gransax isn’t dead, but is right where he needs to be, so instead of defeating their enemies by force they can convert them to their religion, and revere them as gods. Now, the Erdtree is just a symbol of faith but the stone scales of dragons can grant strength. And wouldn’t you know it, theirs a depository of stone scales at the Bank of Gransax ;) Also Justice for Marika, Marika did nothing wrong. Great video, looking forward to more from 1
Aaaw thank you so much!!! D: Will think about your additions to the theory. I'm not 100% convinced by my own conclusion, but I'm sure Gransax is alive and that he is not the bad guy here
I haven’t finished the video yet, but I am playing right now and I took a look at Gransax and here’s my hypothesis: The way his arm is tucked underneath him looks like he’s in the final stage of the range of motion of an experienced javelin thrower. Doing a quick search of what it looks like when an experienced thrower lets loose a javelin, the throwing arm continues the range of motion in a downward diagonal swipe, and it sometimes ends up crossing over the torso to the side of their body. Looks like he’s frozen in that position now. Related but not related, but Messmer, quite infamously says, “Those stripped of the grace of gold shall all meet death.” I’m not sure exactly what that means, entirely. However, living ancient dragons have golden wings. Gransax appears to have had the gold of wings stripped clean. Implying that Gransax is dead. Just a thought. edit: also, if we read the description of the Bolt of Gransax: Spear whittled from the weapon WIELDED by Gransax. One of the legendary armaments. A great ancient dragon, Gransax once rained calamity upon the Royal Capital - the only time in historical record that Leyndell’s walls have fallen. This marked the dawn of the war against the ancient dragons. I think we can take the item description of the Bolt of Gransax at face value. I’m not aware of any other item descriptions in the game explicitly fabricating events, so there’s no reason to think this item description is fabricated either.
Great video! Very interesting find as well! And the speculated story makes a lot of sense. I very much like the idea of Gransax protecting Leyendell, and history being re-written, (though I would think Marika would have done that), to clear the evidence of the prior First Elden Lord. What makes me confused about the story is the timeline of it all. Like we are talking about three different occasions of big dragon fights. When in all this did Marika become a God instead of Placidusax’s god? When did Godfrey become Elden Lord and when was Godwyn born in all of this? An alternative idea for a background story, though, not as exiting maybe could be: Placidusax was taken to the brink of his fighting capacity in Leyendell - having already lost a head or two - and decides in desperation to nuke Leyendell so he can exact his revenge for his expelled god. Gransax thought he went overboard and tried to undo the nuke spell. That’s when Placi, though too late, realized his misstake and had to freeze both him and his brother/child/whatever in order to save both his kin and the city. Much rambling later.. I enjoyed the very high quality content you made and hope that I’ll be seeing more about Elden Ring soon on your channel!
Hey there! Thank you for the kind words. To the timeline. I'm placing the war against dragons a "bit" earlier than we thought. Marika probably became a god during very early and I think the dragons were still ruling. Maybe placis god fled because of Marika and Godfrey. And godwyn was born after gransax "attacked" leyndell. I like your idea of placi wanting to reverse his actions! Will think about it!
Spoilers.....apparently those who serve placidusax stay still to lend him their sleep. If you don't give him your sleep, he will disown you. Despite being in the time vacuum. This is wreaking of Marika sent or tricked bayle to attack placidusax for the elden ring.
@@Banuune okay i just looked at placidusax again. He is missing 3 heads and 2 of the heads on are Bayle. Now im thinking this is the eye she removed the elden ring from in the story trailer. How did she get Bayle to attack and get him to agree to return the elden ring. Im thinking metyr stopped talking to placidusax when it found marika. This is why his heads are in tuning fork mode like the 2 fingers looking for their signal.
@@Banuune It's been a while, so the details are hazy... Still, pull up a chair, and I'll tell you what I remember. In the beginning of that world, there was a creator god, that split itself creating different gods of creation. Or, was it gods of destruction. The distinction can be... fluid. Especially fluid when one of those gods, Vallad, split himself in to two, Seath and Guyra, The White Dragon and The Black Dragon. The two dragons soon went to war. The elves believed in Seth, but they were deceived. Just as Seath created a weapon against Guyra, Guyra created the Moonlight Sword against Seath. The weapon has been ever present throughout King's Field, Demon's Sould, Dark Souls, Bloodbourn, and now Elden Ring.
The production values on this video are very nice! As to the main content, I think Gransax is still likely dead. While he's certainly very intact compared to some dragons, Gransax's body has nonetheless petrified like their own, and we can see his body crumbling apart via the Gravel Stone items that can be picked up while traversing his wings. Additionally, the gold on the underside of Gransax's wings is absent, a la the dead dragons. The placement of Gransax's head is interesting, but I feel it's for a different reason -- Gransax seems to have been leaning against something before he petrified. Gransax's head and neck currently aren't supported by part of that large gate, as some of your camerawork has shown. As such, there may have been a large structure there in the past that was too destroyed to rebuild but not so necessary to hold up Gransax's body that it had to be left alone. This could imply an interesting history of Leyndell's architectural development. I feel that Godfrey would be too focused on fighting to use major deception, even with Serosh on his back. For a man who feels that strength warrants a crown, whether or not he or a foe of his proves worthy, Hoarah Loux would probably fight Placidusax outright if he ever faced him at all. Marika also seems surprisingly willing to leave the history books alone compared to past From Software monarchs. While Marika slaughtered the Fire Giants and imprisoned the entire Great Caravan, no dialogue or item descriptions imply that anything was meant to be covered up regarding these actions. The only things Marika seems to have hidden in the main game are Radagon's true nature and her Tarnished plan. However, for those cases, the secrecy was apparently in service of Marika's ultimate goal, ensuring that a demi-god or warrior in general would become great enough to rise up and defeat the Elden Beast. Also, the Tarnished Marika banished were apparently told the plan outright, going by Melina's quoting of Marika. We don't know what the Land of Shadow will tell us about Marika's origin and plans. It's possible that Marika hid the land in a different dimension for her image, but perhaps she also did it to stop Messmer from somehow pulling a Frenzied Flame on the entire world. We'll have to see what occurs there, but hopefully it'll be great for gameplay and story alike.
Thank you. I was never too sure about how the events played out, but I'm still sure with the conclusion: Gransax is innocent and alive. How? Why? This is something we still have to explore. I as wrong with the idea that Granny attacked Placi. As now we know it was bayle. But Granny could have tried to protect placi and when placi tried to "freeze time for Bayle" he accidentally hit Gransax and froze him instead? I don't know. I'm still trying to understand xD
Probably a necro but considering we kill Placidux in his arena which inherently is outside of time...I'd imagine effectively he wouldn't be dead unless somehow the time effect of his arena stopped and time resumed...much like miquellas needle effectively changes its form by being in the arena...Basically Placidux's arena would be Shroedeners Cat...outside of Farum Azula he'd be dead and alive simultaneously
To be clear...to anyone outside of Farum Azula both states could coexist as future. Past and present coexist(Again. Miquellas needle that effectively jumps forward in time, going from an incomplete item to a complete one within the arena)
I disagree on the Black Knives being aligned with Marika. Marika likely betrayed her own Numen people for power before she was betraying everyone else and they want payback. No one hurts you more than family.
I see why you would think so. But Marika being the one who orchestrated the NoBK is not my original idea. Many people came to the conclusion. Marika was willing to sacrifice her own children if they weren't able to make a Lord or a God out of themselves. She caged 2 of her own children for thinking they are ugly. I don't think that Marika loves her children as she should lol
@@Banuune I agree Marika would and could kill her kids, but I don't think she did this time. We know Ranni stole the Rune of Death and transcribed it on the Black Knives for the Noxian assassins who killed Godwyn and possibly the other soulless demigods in the Wandering Mausoluem. If Marika was behind the plot, she could have given the Rune to the Assassin's herself, so why involve Ranni? Hell, Marika could just have Malekith kill Godwyn outright. The Greater Will already seems cool with kinslaying, so her Shadow would obey. Now, we know that someone caged the leader of the Assassins who killed Godwyn in the Evergaol after the Assassins escaped from the murder. This leads me to believe Ranni was the mastermind instead and she double crossed the Assassins by imprisoning the only person who likely knew of Ranni's involvement. Thus the Black Knife Assassins take the fall of the Golden Order's wrath leaving Ranni free to pursue her aims. The other Assassins catch up to Ranni later in her quest line and kill Iji and try to kill Blaidd while looking for Ranni. Ranni however is long gone by this time.
A necro but think before...considering Godwyn dying triggered the fracturing, but the tarnished existed before the fracturing. Considering through the fracturing(and thus the death of Godwyn), the tarnished were called back to restore order
He seems fossilisized, the pose he's stuck in is the result of some explosion (of light). Furthermore he's been slain by Godwyn, and that's in the game. Cheers!!
@@Banuune Godwyn kills the ancient dragon Grandsax and then befriends fortisax and lanseax, which starts the cult worshipping of ancient dragons in Leyndell. It's mentionned everywhere in the game.
@@MidnightatMidian WHERE!? "Everywhere" is not an answere! Godwyn defeated "the mightiest of them all" but that is fortisax. fortis=strong in latin. But never ever ever ever is it stated ANYWHERE in the game, that Gransax was KILLED. Never ever. "Dragons" yes. "Gransax" NO.
Yeah im gonna need to see a source for your claim midnight because it is mentioned literally no where. You have the burden of proof. She had the items associated up on screen, so unless she missed something, then you're straight up wrong.
Godfrey has honor he would not do that but that is why she sent godfrey away then the dragons attacked, now that is something to ponder.Because it is said Godwyn defeated him.
He took the help from Serosh. He has Honor. But you know how you get the most honor? If you win the war. And as the victor, you always can rewrite the history. That's what godfrey did for marika. He killed everyone who was against them. So everyone who thought differently or knew the truth was eliminated so that the only thing that survided in the future is what THEY said was true. So Godfrey abusing Gransax's size and strengh to get to his goal, is something I personally se as an option here. And also it is mentioned NOWHERE in the game that GRANSAX was slain. Never ever. "Ancient Dragons" were killed. Godwyn killed "the mightiest of them all". Fortisax. Fortis=strong. Gran(d)=big. Gransax is the "Big-one", Fortisax he "Strong(est)-one", Placidusax is the "silent-one". So no. Never ever has it been said that Gransax was killed. I said that to another commenter a few days ago. So you should look thorugh the comments, as a lot of things like those were already explained :)
I was all in with this until you got a few things backwards, Godwyn started the dragon cult because “even lightning is golden” I would assume dragon communion came first because it was more occult eating dragon hearts is prolly not looked upon kindly. Also I truly do not believe that Merika had anything to do with the night of the black knives to me it’s clear she shattered the Elden ring in response to Godwin’s death. But I did like the idea that he is frozen in time so he’s not dead but also not alive either.
Hey. Thanks for the feedback. I noticed my confusion about the dragon cult and communion. It should have been the other way around. I dont know who was the FIRST to present it, but i remember agtjake theorizing about it. I see why people don't belive it thought. But I think its worth thinking about ^^ anyways wish you the best
All ancient Dragons look like stone. They ARE stone. But when they are killed, which is very hard due to their stone scales, they become brittle. Gansax has not a single crumbling part (exept the wing that broke off in one piece and even this piece is not cumbled. But him being stone is not the most irritating thing about him. It is his position. You should watch Zullie the Witch's or Bonfire's Gransax model analysis video and you will notice the lookes like he was stopped MID MOTION And that is not how animals die. Only if they are rapidly frozen, which, looking at all the ash around leyndell, was not the case. And he clearly wasn't burned. And even if we was burned, noone freezes in motion when being burned. So yeah. There is story. Story we do not understand yet. But I think my Idea of him actually protectiong the capital or the roundtable hold, is very reasonable.
Absolutely!! XD I'm just hoping something will hint at my theory being correct. Not confirm, but hint at. Like the things I mention in this video. Nothing is mentioned, but hinted at :D
Fair theory, but it just... doesn't feel right. It's not reverent. Music is silly for something weighty and solemn. I mean, to each's own taste, but just not mine this time.
You mention that claiming Gransax is dead is an unsubstantiated claim within the lore… yet then dive into an entire fanfic theory about how the war with the dragons played out… with unsubstantiated claims. You’re absolutely right with how Marika’s reign resulted in erasure of history in the Lands Between… but the rest of your theory leading to and resulting in Godwyn’s assassination is cringe. Also all ancient dragons are made of stone, it is not something they transition to upon death. Just look at the gravel stones and ancient dragon smithing stones. You talk some light smack in your vid, I hope you can take mine in stride! Good work on the video itself! I’m just not a fan of the way you presented or supported your theory.
Hey there. First thank you for the feedback. But I never said that it's unsubstainable. I said that it is "fairly assumed" as "Dragon still in Leyndell AFTER rampage against the Dragons" where we can assume they killed most of the Dragons. And why wouldn't they kill him too? I see the reasoning behind it. But I also see that his visually differs immensely from the actual Corpses. And so many more tiny hints in the Story, that could, if you are open to it, show you a totally different story. And yes Dragons ARE made from stone. But this stone also gets brittle when they die, as we can see in the dead dragons. Gransax has the textrues of the living dragons, with some minor alterations, not the one used on the dead ones. I hope you can see where I'm going. You need to be very open minded to fully get my theory, and I know it's not for everyone. But appriciate you watching it till the end. The Godwyn part at the end was more free-jazzin' about idead to connect the whole Dragon Theory with Godwyn you fu- I mean loved a Fortisax. lul. Plus the theory that Marika planned Godwyns death is not mine. There a many creators out there have pointed out that some dialogue can hint at it being fact and also the fact that she threw 2 of her children in the sewers WITHOUT HESITATION. ._. Best mom ever.
@@Banuune I know you never specifically said the claims of Gransax being dead were unsubstantiated, but (without watching your video all over again) I believe you said that there were no item descriptions or in-game text stating he was dead. While this is correct… your theory had no text or item descriptions to support it either. While that’s fine I guess, it just seemed like you unnecessarily opened yourself up to criticism on that front. I just brought up the Godwyn bit so you didn’t smack me around like Kyle lol. But I do agree that there is a distinct probability that Marika had ties with Godwyn’s assassination. I will say that I have a theory of my own regarding Gransax’s Bolt (though I’m sure there’s a youtuber who has probably said this) It is definitely modeled after Placidusax’s red lightning spears, but I can’t imagine Placidusax needing a physical spear for himself since he can literally conjure them. Maybe it was something crafted by him (or with his blessing) to be given to his strongest warrior - Gransax. A boon of sorts, before leading the war against Marika. And don’t apologize for the long reply! I enjoy friendly talks and discourse about this stuff!
Ok nice. So to the Items: I said that there are only three Items that claim that Gransax attacked the City from which all are assosiated or made by Golden Order / marikon / Radika. lol xD So their influence in the creation of the Items or the Location they are found in could also resonate in them lying about what happend. I know that my theory is not stated in text directly. But when you are open minded and read between the lines, you can see where I'm coming from and where I'm going with it xD The visual story telling is very important in fromsoft games. So I payed attention to the surrondings. What things are found where and for what reason. There is an whole untold story out there and that's why I love this game. And this is the reason there are so many theories about this game out there. If you are open to the idea that I COULD be right here, boot up the game, listen to my words again and see for youself. And to the Kyle thing: He ruined the whole flow. He deserved the punishment. I stand by that ! xD
@@Banuune I’ll have to go back and read the different item descriptions! I haven’t played ER in about a year! (Horrible right?!) @@geordiejones5618 thank you for coming back!!
Yes! I've played the dlc. And yes. Ancient dragons are the good guys while the other ones are now considered the bad guys. And look at this new dragon!! It's so big!! And so dead!!! With this one I'm not debating if he/she is alive xD
I was so excited for your next upload and now I am for the next one. Awesome work
Kind words! Thank you!
I'll try to hurry up a bit with the next one ^^°
Genius theory, this feels like a puzzel piece sliding into place
Thank you! :D Glad to see people agreeing ^^
I search for elden lore every day on youtube, a very cool and interesting theory, thanks!
Glad you liked it (:
I luv u and how deeply u dive in the lore❤😊
There’s a TON of things you pointed out here that I’ve never ever considered! Amazing video!
Thank you! Granny is my baby so I did my best to prove that he is innocent. So I had to collect evidence that usually stays unnoticed (:
Well, this is my introduction to you. I’ve enjoyed it.
Welcome! Glad you enjoyed it! ^^
Banuune mein liebchen! ❤ This was SO GOOD!! Really entertaining and provoking, but light and funny too which is so refreshing. I love this theory you’ve convinced me! Justice for Gransax, another causality in Marika’s sick twisted games
Aaaaaw! You're so sweet!!
that theory is perfect, i didnt knew placidussax has this weapon, amazing video
Thank you so much!
And wouldn’t you know it, theirs a depository of stone scales at the Bank of Gransax ;)
Also Justice for Marika, Marika did nothing wrong.
Great video, looking forward to more from 1
Aaaw thank you so much!!! D: Will think about your additions to the theory. I'm not 100% convinced by my own conclusion, but I'm sure Gransax is alive and that he is not the bad guy here
@@Banuunedon’t listen to him, of all the elden ring TH-camrs. He’s the most self assured and in everyone comments saying things like this.
Yoooooo this is v good! Ty for showing me its plas's bolt thats so cool
Very nice theory, makes sense with the timeline and events and as a Dragon Communion member I approve of the dragon themed lore dive.
Haha thank you ^^
Dragon Fan(atic)s are always welcome here!
HAIL GRANSAX!
Just a thought.
edit: also, if we read the description of the Bolt of Gransax:
Spear whittled from the weapon WIELDED by Gransax.
4:05 kyle chill asf for listening
Edit: 8:03 damn
wait till you get to 12:08 xD
Gransax being stuck in time fully aware of everything for centuries, including having a wing dismantled, is a worse fate than merely being killed.
It is. BUT. He has the chance to get free. He doesn't have to stay like this if he is just frozen. If dead, then there is no return.
GRANSAX FOR LIFE!
An alternative idea for a background story, though, not as exiting maybe could be:
Placidusax was taken to the brink of his fighting capacity in Leyendell - having already lost a head or two - and decides in desperation to nuke Leyendell so he can exact his revenge for his expelled god.
Good stuff man :)
Thank you ^_^
We all say “Thank you Banuune”
Aaw!
Post dlc, im back. Things are stirring.
Spoilers.....apparently those who serve placidusax stay still to lend him their sleep. If you don't give him your sleep, he will disown you. Despite being in the time vacuum.
This is wreaking of Marika sent or tricked bayle to attack placidusax for the elden ring.
@@Bbmag23 Yes! Bayle being the bad guy is helping me justify Gransax's innocence xD
I love it !
I never thought too much about Gransax and why he’s there but this video made me realize that the condition of his body is really weird
Very good production value. 👍
Thank you!
Good stuff. I'm reminded of the dragons from the Kings Field lore.
Uh. tell me more
@@Banuune It's been a while, so the details are hazy...
I hope we can find dragon eyes in the Dlc somehow cause I REALLY LIKE THIS THEORY! It would probably be the best environmental story I'd ever see.
Thank you soooo much
You should check out @moxiewatts though!

Is the big ole dragon in any ending cut sceane?
Sadly there is nothing about this Dragon beside him being mentioned in like 3 Items or so.
So sadly there is no cutscene with thim ;_;
Very cool! Unfortunately Bayle. Also wouldn’t killing plascidusax unfreeze gransax? I like the ideas tho. Theory has some legs.
Thank you.
I was never too sure about how the events played out, but I'm still sure with the conclusion:
Gransax is innocent and alive.
How?
Wow what a compelling theory... Maybe not a theory, maybe a retelling of the real history of the Lands Between 👌
Aaaaw thank you!! 🥲
Ranni however is long gone by this time.
awesome theory.
Thank you ^_^
Was Godfrey banished before or after Godwyns soul death
he was banished before, probably. But nothing is fact in this game. Just speculation (:
So it could be both, either or none, lol
A necro but think before...considering Godwyn dying triggered the fracturing, but the tarnished existed before the fracturing. Considering through the fracturing(and thus the death of Godwyn), the tarnished were called back to restore order
He seems fossilisized, the pose he's stuck in is the result of some explosion (of light). Furthermore he's been slain by Godwyn, and that's in the game. Cheers!!
Where? :)
@@Banuune Godwyn kills the ancient dragon Grandsax and then befriends fortisax and lanseax, which starts the cult worshipping of ancient dragons in Leyndell. It's mentionned everywhere in the game.

Banuune Gransax lore BASED

Noticed that too late ): sorry
And the Marika planned godwyns death theory is acctually not mine but i just reasoned it differently. I dont know who was the FIRST to present it, but i remember agtjake theorizing about it. I see why people don't belive it thought. But I think its worth thinking about ^^

I wish I could do more. And faster.
Jeez i didn't know I was so abusive
? D:
He has not been dead as long, and seems he had close to the same fate as many dead people they all look like stone.
You should watch Zullie the Witch's or Bonfire's Gransax model analysis video and you will notice the lookes like he was stopped MID MOTION
And that is not how animals die.
Thinking we will get answers and not more questions from the DLC is just copium. Myazaki does not answer questions. He only gives us more.
Absolutely!! XD
I'm just hoping something will hint at my theory being correct. Not confirm, but hint at. Like the things I mention in this video. Nothing is mentioned, but hinted at :D
Miquella couldve put him to sleep
@@coltondickson3509 I like that idea. But for what reason?
@Banuune perhaps an attack on leyndell after Godwyn died since he was a honored friend of dragons
Fair theory, but it just... doesn't feel right. It's not reverent. Music is silly for something weighty and solemn.
I mean, to each's own taste, but just not mine this time.
That is fine. Thank you for your oppinion. ^^
Nah, he's dead.
Nah. He's alive.
Ok nice. So to the Items: I said that there are only three Items that claim that Gransax attacked the City from which all are assosiated or made by Golden Order / marikon / Radika. lol xD
So their influence in the creation of the Items or the Location they are found in could also resonate in them lying about what happend.
I know that my theory is not stated in text directly. But when you are open minded and read between the lines, you can see where I'm coming from and where I'm going with it xD
The visual story telling is very important in fromsoft games.
(Horrible right?!) From my experience with FromSoft games, I’ve always understood item text to be definitive lore unless there are quotations in the item description or a comment in the description like “it is said”. Those two things usually signal a personal account that can be open to interpretation.
You’ve brought some great points forward, and now I’ve got my own investigation to do! Good luck with your future content! I’ll keep an eye out for it!
Thank you! Let me know how your research is going to turn out.
Also I don't belive that all the Item descriptions are pure facts. I think there is always a bias from the creator or finder. But that is a personal opinion I guess ^^
