    My mom passed away because of her heroine addiction and I’m just so happy that you could be there for your girls. Actually a super mom. I have forgiven my mom because you showed me how much of a disease it is and how heroine can push down that love and take over. My mom was a wonderful women. You shine light. I know cheesy

Because of my addiction, I almost dropped out of college, but now I’m determined to pass this test and continue to do good in school and pull my grades up!! 45 days sober and I feel AMAZING. You are such an inspiration to me to keep pushing and fighting for my sobriety, my education, and my mental health.

I've been in recovery now for 10 years with a couple slips. i messed up a lil back in April and found out i was pregnant in June (mind u i didn't think I could even have kids as hubby and i tried for 6 years) so it's now been 7 and a half months and my baby boy is my inspiration my miricle baby and thank god for him....

      awesome! I love to hear this kind of stuff, ppl need to know it is possible. It's exponentially harder to fight when there's no light at the end of the tunnel, but stories like yours and Jessica's help make that light visible.
      I dropped out and never went back, but still had to pay my student loans haha ouch! -anyway, that was my path, and I'm good now. I'm proud of you!! even though we don't know each other. keep that focus and you'll surprise yourself, I promise!

      @@ernesthamm1813 thats sweet. it's nice to see encouragement on these comments rather then hate... her comment touched closed to home with me as well as i explained above.... and as you said its not easy... but keep ur head up and keep going because you as well are an amazing person that deserves happiness..
      it's nice to see people building others up rather then tearing them down

    • @ernesthamm1813
      @ernesthamm1813 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EricaLeaAndFamily awe thanks for that comment! normally I expect things like "shut the eff up d-rider!" lol. One time after a similar type of comment, a girl replied (I'm paraphrasing) "please! your comment is so transparent, she's not gonna date you dork!" haha I thought, wow is that really what you got from what I said?!
      anyway, you're right, it is difficult and it's important for us to build each other up, bc otherwise you're just left with your own thoughts, which while getting clean can become quite negative and dark. The only thing that has a chance of breaking through that negativity is sincere advice from ppl who know what you're going through.
      in regard to your first comment, we all slip, but we also get back up! I'm going on 2 years now after a slip myself. I'm happy for you, and wish you and your baby boy nothing but the best!

    You have such a kind heart. I remember sticking up for a kid in high school and the bullies just turned on me.

    • @louiss3409
      @louiss3409 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I stood up for a Jewish kid named Toby who was an over weight comic book and RPG nerd, nice guy and a friend (we became friends after this), who is now dead (unrelated to this event), they turned on me too, I warned them not to fight with me. They chose to, I dropped them, and even though technically it turned into self-defense I was suspended from school. Primarily because I willingly went outside to the corner, and because one of their faces had a severe allergic reaction to my knuckles. The school decided that I shouldn't have had my knuckles so close to the bully's face and that was the cause of his face swelling up changing colors and him passing out. Frankly it was his fault really, not only was he a bully, but he should have had an epi pen, walking around with a knuckle allergy? Joking aside, if I were a police officer in this situation, this guy would have gotten arrested, but instead I was expelled, so was he. They claimed I defended myself too well, but I never hit him after he was down. A theme in all my physical confrontations, this guy actually passed out, he was unconscious, but people will flop around and act more hurt than they are like they are in soccer trying to incur a penalty on the other side. Unless you get a jury no one is going to referee.

    I was in Alabama prison with a girl just like this. Everyone called her “perm-spun”
    Women in prison with us claimed to know her & her bf from the streets & said she didn’t used to be in that mental state. It seemed like someone tried to kill her with a hot shot & she just never fully came back. She also shouldn’t have been in Gen pop But my best friend & I took care of her the best we could, gave her cigs, & snacks. I checked the website recently & looks like she’s back in there on a different charge. I can’t help but feel like the system is failing that poor girl.

    I've been sober now for 3 and 1/2 years but I still have auditory hallucinations until this day. It just started to get better in the last year but for the first 2 and 1/2 years they were so bad. I truly thought I was going to have them for the rest of my life and it was so draining mentally, emotionally and physically. I've learned how to suppress them but I didn't think they would ever get better. Thank God they did.

    I worked with a woman who was, as you say, “perma-tweeted”. It was sad because she was obviously slow at understanding things and social cues and was aware of her deficiencies. For years she claimed it was from a bad car accident but finally confessed to brain damage from drugging. For a long time, she said she had trouble talking in sentences and was soo grateful for finally getting a job where we picked up the slack for her. Such a sad situation as she eventually went off the deeper end and ended up institutionalized. Have often wondered now 25 years later how she is or if she’s even still alive. For a long time I’d go and see her because her family had disowned her, but we moved and I could no longer keep up the visits. Most of the time she knew me, but sometimes not.

    You have a heart ❤️ for other people. I love that about you.
    My neighbor, who is a beautiful young woman in her 20s, has permanent voices in her head from doing meth. She quit, which is a miracle because she told me she would never stop. She went to jail with a 1st degree felony after the house she lived in was raided by the police. The charges were dropped down to a state jail felony and she is out on bond. When she was in the midst of her hardcore addiction, she came to my door about 3 times completely psychotic. I would have her take a shower, get something to eat, and give her Benadryl hoping she would sleep. I have seen my son hallucinate on meth. One night, he tried to grab a loaded shotgun!! He thought people were outside trying to get in!
    Now that my neighbor is clean, she has told me that one of the times she was here, she thought my house was a concentration camp!

    Ugh! That poor girl. This one hit so close to home. When I was using I was in that girls shoes. I was hanging out with the wrong people and they were awful to me. I stayed because I was alone and my bf was in jail at the time. It felt like I had no one else. They would get me high and then mess with me in really messed up ways. Looking back now I think they were giving me something else, but I'm not sure what. It took nearly two years of sobriety but I'm finally starting to feel back to "normal." I still have little quirks from using meth: it takes me longer to get the words I want to say out, my mind isn't as sharp as it was before and it makes me so self conscious now that I'm back in school, and my anxiety is always sky high. My social skills are off as well. I don't know if my brain will ever work quite the same as it did before, but I've made so much progress. I was addicted to heroin on and off for nearly 10 years and used meth for about 7 months. It's crazy because during that short amount of time it did more damage to my brain and body than almost a decade of heroin did.

    I love these types of videos! I’ve been following you for a few weeks now. I’m from Arkansas, and I totally feel what you’re saying about meth... It ruins families.

    Hey Jess! Love that you used this intro again, totally suits your videos, you should keep using it for your jail story times, really fits in with the videos. And you should definitely make some videos about your prison journal! We’d all love to hear about it and what you would write to keep yourself busy and your thoughts while being locked up 🖤💀 #storytimewithjess #jailstorytime #jessicakent

      On another note, this poor woman 😔 that’s so mean to keep on taking from someone that has next to nothing. I mean, you’re already in prison and have nothing so the little things you do have are everything to you and then to have someone or multiple people continuously take your items would drive you literally crazy especially in her condition. It really is a dog eat dog world in there. Some people have absolutely no compassion at all, such a sad reality.

    There is a guy i know that has been sober for years. And no one believed him because he still to this day does the "tweeker dance". But he used meth and cocaine for most of his adult life 20+ years. Its scary the things drugs can do. I used meth, cocaine, fetty and pills for 10 years. And i have short term memory loss, and i slur my words or studder because of the damage i did to my brain. Its not worth it yall. Get sober now and save yourself. If youre lucky you can make a full recovery and if even u have permanent damage, its still worth getting sober and stopping what could end up killing you. ❤ thanks jess once again for being a service to everyone. Let me know if and when i can help :)

    Thank you for your truth &insights, Jess! I didn't know that meth could cause permanent mental damage. I'd assume it could but now I'm aware. It may help me if I'm talking to someone who wants to get sober someday. I'm sober, have contact with AA. So knowledge is power.
    You are helping so many people. Thank you!

    I think no matter what we do in life, no matter what kind of decisions we make, things we go through, etc....our true character shows. Be it good, bad, or anything in between. Your true character showed, in the way you looked out for that girl. No matter what you've done in your past, that is what shines through, that is what stands out. You have a big heart 💜

    I was an addict for eight years and five of those years I was an IV meth user. I am from Arkansas and live about 45 minutes south of Fort Smith. I'm rolling on 4 years off of meth and pills with the help of Suboxone. It literally saved my husband's and my life.

    This is off the above video's subject..but I was watching one of your videos of you replying to a troll regarding "where their taxes go and lock'em all up comment" My favorite saying.. don't know who said it.. but here it is.. "EVERYONE you meet, talk to, know etc is going through a personal battle you know nothing about.. BE NICE!" Just wanted to share! Your videos are awesome.. I've never been in prison..used to work with troubled kids for years, over 1,000 of them.. and today it's more of a badge of honor for kids to go to jail/or worse than it is to graduate HS.. Sad commentary on society.. keep your chin up and sharing your stories!

    I am from and live in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. It's a sad sad place to live. I know more people who are on hard drugs than not. I remember being around 7 and playing with the neighbor kid out in my yard and seeing probably a dozen+ unmarked cars, dogs, etc pull up to their house, kick in the door, and arrest everyone and came to get my friend while we were playing. She was also around my age. I wasn't shocked at all and remembered asking my parents when they'll be back. Not "omg what happened" like a normal 7 year old. I had an understanding from a very young age what meth was and that my friend's parents made, sell, and use it. I thought drugs were just something all or most adults did. My parents had some vices of their own but were good at hiding it so I really didn't know until later. Looking back I'm just like wow..😳 We're lucky to live in a pretty good neighborhood now and my 6 year old hasn't a clue about anything like that. I don't want her growing up thinking drugs are okay and normal like I did. Arkansas needs help.
    Thank you for all you do, Jessica. You've helped me and many others already ♡
