Payload capacity of the Smooth 4 is 210g. I'm guessing that the combined weight of your phone, case, lens and weights totals more than 210g. Since you posted the video in Feb. 2019 did the motors burn out or is the solution still working?
Hey again! Quick question, what is the thread size on these weights? Would they work in conjunction with ulanzis weights? I have a moment lens setup with filters, and i feel ridiculous with 12 counterweights on it. These weights are heavier, so I'd need fewer. Im just hoping i can fit my ulanzi weights on them
I have an iPhone 8 Plus and with the case and Anamorphic lens I cannot get the Smooth 4 to balance at all. Horizontally I can just about get it level but it will point down as the weight of the lens drags it downwards. When the gimbal is turned on it will attempt to level but the horizon is off and it doesn’t hold its position as the weight just takes over.
Cruisn Canada Yes but I don’t think it’s enough weight it’s the Ulanzi counterweight but it’s only 64g in total. The moment one I believe is 120g. I’ve ordered another Ulanzi one which comes with another 40g in little modular weights that can be added so that will take it up to 104g. I’m really trying to avoid buying the Moment one as being UK based I have to import it and that adds 20% customs and postage to what is already an expensive for what it is item! However It may be a last resort!!
For sure. The shipping of the Moment gear is definitely pricy. Definitely makes purchasing it a little more expensive! Best of luck finding a solution!
David Talbert I’m not sure. Haven’t tried it. But I don’t think the Snoppa atom would need it as it’s motor can handle a lot more weight than most gimbals.
Short answer, no. The gimbal arm does not stick out as it does on the Smooth 4. That being said, you can use counterweights with the Atom, but they must be on the base or charging end of the phone itself. By extending the counterweight strap, you could wrap it around the entire phone, but it would block some of the viewing area. You could also use double-sided tape and attach the weight to the back of the case out of the screens field of view.
sell out!! 🤣😂. Bro, I was convinced to shoot handheld watching your channel and caught a lot of flack from people who told me "You cannot shoot a wedding hand held!!". Now your selling out 🤣😂. But I planned on mixing up anyway LOL. I have the RS4 so all good.
never even thought that you would need a counter weight. good info.
glad I have it, but not really sure how often I'll be using it. But again, a good piece of gear to have. Just in case!

the motors never failed, but i no longer have this gimbal and ended up buying bigger ones that work with my phone and larger cameras.

@@DollarStoreShopr Thanks for letting me know. I have a Rhinoshield lens and I wanted I wanted to film with it. I'll try and counter balance it.
