- It seems my perfect build I made months ago is no longer as perfect as it can be to no fault of it's own. Virtual machines and anti-cheat software is like oil and water but I can't help but think the effort is misplaced with how much cheating in video games is prevalent and in comparatively easier processes. Anticheat isn't up to par and it hasn't ever been. Anyone with paid cheats don't get bans because the hackers take better care of there clients than the game developers do.

When competitive games are getting boring, it's time to start getting some extra hobbies. In my case, when a game pisses me off I just go back to learn coding. Because the half to one hour a day I get are way more exciting than the several hours I had before.
Everything seems fresh, nothing is being too repetitive. Since I'm annoyed by the game, it actually pushes me to start enjoying the more annoying parts related to studying. Ironically, ever since I started playing less, I've started to enjoy playing games more than ever.
@@rumplstiltztinkerstein well I quit gaming a year ago now I just study and code stuff all day, it is so amazing how much you can accomplish without unnecessary time sinks think about it 16 hours of work per day translates to over 5k hours in a year. They say 1 k hours is enough to master a skill. Soul sucking indeed but extremely rewarding to push through 2 years of university material in 6 months. But now especially I don’t really have better things to do.

I feel like there’s so much misunderstanding over what virtual machines are and what they’re used for, even in the software development and anti-cheat circles, that it contributes to why VMs are targeted as well. It’s like a combination of an easy target and a bad reputation, as fucked up as that is.

Mate, for the last 2 years KVM cheating has been insanely prevalent. There are better and more universal methods that I could detail, but KVM has a rather low entry barrier for cheat dev, and was insanely powerful. That's why BE, EAC and Vanguard etc try as hard as possible to block VM players, as probably 70%+ of KVM users were/are cheating

I think that csgo's trust factor is one of the best ideas for anti cheat, downside to that is the new players have to get through the swamp filled with cheaters to get to high trust factor
And that if you get reported your trust factor goes down. If you are a new player that plays well you will get reported a lot.

Yes, but then if you get found out because of an update, they ban you for circumventing anti-cheat
Yes, but it's both *very* time consuming, and also risky for the reason above me. You literally need to have a dedicated community that burns through multiple accounts per patch (or potentially even per day) to figure out which flags to edit and boy does nobody got time for that shit.

The most incompetent and most ineffective anticheat is still being used and made by Fromsoft. (Regarding ds3) They can't ban cheaters for shit, because aperently if you delete temp data created by that makes it undetectable... Going by the "battle of stocism" script we saw, it's a miracle that ds1 is running at all.
unless he means bakkesmod, RL has no "cheats." Useful mods for training sure, but no cheats. Anticheat should be tracking player and aim position to see if it is sus, rage spinbotting should be auto detected by now.

I just wanna say I really enjoy the videos you've made relating to Linux and Virtual Machines, You are the reason I switched and started gaming mostly under a VM, because the whole process of just setting everything up and having this new, fun system where sky is practically the limit is so empowering and freeing, despite not being able to easily play games like valorant or really any game primarily supported by battle eye. So thank you
I agree with all of his points, however when it comes to console hacks, there definitely are some available out there, and the thing he said about console updates or whatever, it can be easily exploited by just spoofing the console's firmware version, there are so many ways to hack on a console, mainly the PS4, it's not even funny, sure there are much less hackers on console, but there is a number of them, and they make sure to enjoy the moment in their grandma's moist basement.
I mean, the older consoles will eventually get neglected and they will stop updating them so it's no wonder that PS4 becomes more hackable, but newer consoles are fine

Works on nearly everything, stable as f--k and highly adjustable to fit your needs. Though I think everyone can admit there is a learning curve to it... holy f--k is it better than windows bulls--t.

Yeah Linux cuts out all the bloat that other OS’s have. The only reason to use other things is for some gaming or if your job requires windows/apple reliant software. Otherwise Linux is literally better for everything else, you can just dual boot anyway

The only issues I have with anti-cheats is when a singleplayer game has it for whatever reason and when a game blocks you from playing if you have cheat engine installed. It doesn't need to be running, Just installed.

It’s always sketchy when programs are granted kernel-level access, they literally can detect everything you’re doing unless you are an expert in computer obfuscation
Even if you couldn't play online with your virtualization setup I still think those tutorial videos are useful for other people who use other windows only programs.

Team Fortress 2 has been having tons of bots using hacks since around 2017, in every match, theres a hacker but gets kicked immediately, but another one joins in its place almost instantly

IMO, as technology goes and improves, more of the anticheat tech should be server side (in multiplayer games - and no anticheat in single player games).
Oh, and ALWAYS make it so there is an appeal process for bans. Simple fact is, any anti cheat system is made by humans, and thus is fallible either to false positives, being enabled in places where it shouldn't, covers things it shouldn't, etc. Therefore, the chance might not be high, but is still non-zero, and that means people should be able to appeal because of that possibility.

Denuvo's anticheat wasn't really that bad in comparison... They've made it so future releases with it can run with WINE on Linux, and every other anticheat at this point runs at kernel.
Well in my opinion console game ≠computer game as its pretty set specs for console. So I think console could have Anti Cheat like that.
