  • Part 02/03 Colorado Cutthroat & Garlic Hash Brown Potatoes!
    My dogs (Ash & Juni) and I had a great time camping at this beautiful secluded lake nestled just below the mountain top at 10,000 ft elevation. The lake was incredibly healthy with a bounty of Colorado Cutthroat and Tiger (sterile cross between a brook and a brown) trout to be caught and cooked to supplement my backpacking meals.
    I ate trout for breakfast and twice for dinner cooked three different ways. For breakfast I fried Tiger Trout in bacon fat! For my first dinner I cooked a Colorado Cutthroat with garlic hash browns for my traditional fish and potatoes meal. For my last dinner I grilled a Tiger! I used Hakata Spice (from Japan, We're working on getting some for you to try) on all three meals.
    The Titanium Firebox Stove used In this video is a pre production prototype which Iv'e been testing all season. We have a numbered limited production run of 100 Ti Stoves being made we offered them to our email list on a pre-order basis (they sold out in 40 min) We plan to collect feedback prior to our first full production run. If you would like to stay informed about the Ti Firebox 5" availability, please get on our email list, link below.

    I’m a kayak fisherman/woman, and I have truly enjoyed your videos. I recently borrowed my friends firebox and cooked up fresh trout with hash browns for him. He had NO idea his firebox could cook up such a tasty meal! I ordered my own Firebox Kit today! Super excited, as I love watching you fish and cook with your firebox stove. 👍😎🎣🐟💦

    No idea why I love watching people camping, fishing, and cooking so much, but your videos are among the best of them. No over-editing, no music, no constant talking. Hi Steve, always enjoy watching your trips, thought that coffee grinder was your fishing gear at first, just a tip I use when walking with rigged fishing rods.....I take the line from the tip and loop the line around the reel leg/stem resting my sinker or float there and run my hook/lure back up the rod to a suitable guide....this takes the weight off the tip, reduces flex when line is brought tight and prevents float/sinker swinging around, works for me.

    Say Steve, have you ever tried making real Austrian Schnitzel on a Firebox?
    What you need:
    Veal filet (alternatively pork filet or pork chops without the bone)
    Eggs
    Breadcrumbs
    White flour
    Make a butterfly cut in the meat and then whack it well to tenderize (normally meat hammer but I am sure you'll improvise something) but make sure it's not too big for your skillet.
    At home you need three plates for flour, eggs and breadcrumbs. Out in the sticks I suggest three plastic bags. Make sure the meat is well covered at each step.
    After that, deep fry it in your skillet until golden brown on both sides. (The oil needs to be deep enough for the meat to swim.)
    Enjoy!
    As for garnish, we usually use just a bit of lemon (to tenderize further, you'll hardly taste it), salt and pepper and if you like, some cranberries.

    • @fireboxstove
      @fireboxstove  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the suggestion, sounds great! I will have to give it a try!!
