I split by batter in two loaves and just had a slice whilst looking at you. This is an awesome fruit cake! Need to rush out and get the ingredients to cover them before I'm tempted to get another slice. Thanks so much for this recipe.

I made my cake and have been dousing it with bourbon. My homemade marzipan is in the freezer. I’ll finish ‘er up on Christmas Eve when my British MIL will join us. She taught me how to make an English fruitcake 30 years ago....and I have her recipe to use. I loved watching you two make the cake, and now the marzipan and icing. Thank you for a fun video. I truly enjoyed it. (I am in he USA)

What a fun video! I love that you never take yourselves too seriously. What was really interesting to me was the idea of actually icing fruitcake. I live in the US and I've never seen an iced fruitcake. Occasionally a bit of "drizzle" on top, but very seldom. And marzipan as well. I can't eat apricot. Since there are cherries in the cake, would cherry jam work as the glue?
Although I used a different recipe for the cake and my wife had already bought ready made marzipan I decided to give the royal icing a go. It was certainly more fun than a shop bought sheet that we usually get. Next year I will have a go at the marzipan. Love your channel 👍
