    I filmed this documentary all the way back in October while staying in Belgrade, Serbia, so if you want to find out more about the Serbian culture of dating, I dive deep into the Serbian mentality, the Serbian men and women, the dating scene in Belgrade and what you have to know before you travel to Serbia.
    NOTE: I didn't have the time to travel all around Serbia, so this video represents the mentality of Belgrade, not the country itself.

      I recently inquired about the opinion polish people have about Serbia, but it seems they dislike serbians because of our good relations with Russia
      I'm disappointed to learn that as they cant get over the fact that we have reasons to love Russia just as much as Poland has reasons to hate Russia
      That being said I like Poland and most of my friends never really cared about my political opinions, which are not really in favor of Russia, they're kinda neutral
      Basically, I cant wait to go to Poland and see their reaction to not only my nationality but to my polish as well, thats the only way to know it for sure ig

    Nice documentary. But that girl talking about serbs being mixed with turks just because some of them have dark hair. Really? Just do a quick DNA research about serbian people please. The dark hair/eyes come from mixing with the indigenous people that lived in the Balkans before the slavs came to this territory. The fact someone occupied one country does not mean the people did mix. There is a difference between conquering a territory and people migrating and settling down. India has been occupied by Britain for so many years, that doesnt make indians mixed people. France had colonies, that does not mean black people from the french isles have french ancestry and are not truly black. Then look at the Roman empire, almost all of Europe was under their control, that does not make all europeans Roman. Mixing on a individual level, yes that could have been possible, but other than that... it's a big misconception and not understanding basic history. You really dont need to be an expert in genetics and history to know the difference between an empire ruling over another state and a people massively migrating to a territory and mixing with indigenous people and its consequences .

    • @kazearaki853
      @kazearaki853 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a nicely written fantasy you have there.
      Are Indians mixed people, the answer is YES.
      Were Indians mixed with British, the answer is YES, there are even ethnic groups born out of this intermixing.
      Were Serbs mixed with Turks, the answer is YES, very similar to the way British mixing with Indians in that it happened on aristocratic level so it's not widespread. You have to remember that nationalism is a modern day invention. Back in the days, idea like "Serbia is strong" is pure garbage. People did not think, follow or fight along ethnic lines, they fight alongside their feudal lords.
      Bottom line is, it would not be surprising if DNA test to be run among dark haired Serbs that some of them would have Turkish ancestry. It's going to be in the minority but it's not going to be surprising.
      All these garbage idea about "people" when talking about the past is largely influenced by modern day nationalism. People just didn't think that way back then. The Macedonians that modern Greeks love to call their own now were oppressors of Greek cities back in the days. They were barbarians that adopted the Greek culture to justify their hegemony over the Greek heartland (Thebes, Athens, Sparta).

    • @MP-dc8sy
      @MP-dc8sy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @@kazearaki853 no one said there was no mixing on a small level. You obviously didn’t understand what I’ve said. I said that a small amount of could have been mixed. So I don’t know what you’re talking about. Even today we are all mixing, every country has mixed couples. French with Arabs, or Russians with Germans but a few couples mixing doesn’t make a whole nation mixed.
      you can’t say that the reason the people have dark hair is because some of them mixed with Turks. Dark hair is a common trait amongst other Europeans too.
      How can mixing in a small percentage determinate the looks of a whole nation?
      That’s exactly what the girl insinuated in the video

    • @MP-dc8sy
      @MP-dc8sy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@kazearaki853 some aristocrats and princes from turkey had european mothers mostly from slavic countries that doesn’t make Turks a Slavic nation.
      Mixing on an individual level has nothing to the with the overall genetics of a nation. Migration do have an impact on the genetics not some princes taking foreign princesses for wives or a few couples that found love across the borders

    • @kazearaki853
      @kazearaki853 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MP-dc8sy Nobody is saying the Turk is a Slavic nation but that's maybe because you don't understand English. The idea of "nation" itself is a modern day concept.
      All I am saying is that just like the British in India, there exist a minority of admixture of Turkish root among Serbian nobility after hundreds of year of Ottoman rule in the area.
      I'm not talking about the Slavic harem imported to Instanbul. I'm talking about admixture of Turkish DNA among local Serbian nobility.
      To understand what I'm saying, you have to discard the garbage of modern day nationalism (all that Serbia is strong nonsense) and not superimpose them on people of the past. They simply did not think like you.
      Because medieval Europe were feudalistic, it is only natural for the local nobility to cement their rule on the land through intermarriage with the empire's representatives. Thus allowing the presence of a minority Turkish bloodline among the Serbs.

    • @kazearaki853
      @kazearaki853 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MP-dc8sy A "nation" is a modern day man-made construct that has nothing to do with DNA but everything to do with a shared believe in something (whatever that something is; real or myth).
      Bosniaks and Serbs are essentially the same "nation" but that doesn't stop the Srebenica genocide because both people identified themselves with two different foreign religions.
      All these talk that try to define a "nation" alongside DNA line is pure supremacist garbage.

    As a serbian woman, I find the comments from the guy who avoids smart women rather embarrassing... In my opinion, next time a foreigner asks him for an opinion, he shouldn't miss an opportunity to not say anything. On the other hand, the Vespa guy should always express himself...I would agree that a good sense of humour is very important. I dare say that women in my country have pretty high expectations, since the men in Serbia are generally quite funny...

    The stereotype sounds similar to that what we hear about German. I used to live in Sydney and my dearest friend was Serbian. They are yeah, direct but in a good way not the German way which could come across confrontational. On the hand, on my way from Europe to Australia. I stop over in one of those transit airport. I went to Starbucks to pick up a coffee and I was setting down alone flying far away to down under and I just wanted to talk to someone so that I don’t feel overwhelmed with travel. I said hi and introduce myself to a German guy , I won’t forget how he looks till this date black hair and eyes a bit tall. I said my name is such and I am from . How are you? Are you flying to this route or somewhere else. He responded aggressively and didn’t like the idea I was chit chatting. I told I was born in Europe when I had had a small talk to him, he said I didn’t look like one, he looked at me as if I did something horrible to the world. I won’t forget that when I was a lonely teenager flying a 24 hour trip and he made me shocked till this day soft 13 years. Funny story when I was at university in Sydney, I met a cool friend of mine, we lost contact now who was a Serbian. When I shared my story and I was new to this part of world and had a small talk. My Serbian friend was really nice and talked to me about his beautiful country where I should I go in Australia, the small towns that they serve Serbian food which was amazing and also so much cultural tips. I wish that person who I was in transit had made that effort even he was not in the mood to present himself in a good manner as we are human not only we present ourselves but our culture. My Serbian friend told me yeah, being passive aggressive isn’t a norm because it could lead to gossip and having fake friends as small and narrow minded brains do gossip because if the person in front of you gossip about others. They most likely will do otherwise with me. It was a turning point for me to learn about other cultures. I am old now and still virgin toward my end beginning of my next chapter of my age. I am so proud that I followed you since 2015. I have learned a lot both in my personal life and professional life. I am now waiting to go out to the world dating across culture. Your channel helped me a lot in intercultural communication and I am grateful for it.

    Lol that guy on the banch was hilarius. Don't take his chevapi.. my boys grew up in Australia but they have that Serbian genetics. Loud, don't touch their food, straight to the point, but very emphatic and soft hearted. One misconception is that we have mixed with Turks. Genetically we are not. Dark hair, tall man that comes from Dinaric genetics, the autohtone genetics for Balkan and not mixture with Turks. Disappointing to hear how un-informed Belgrade young generation is.

    • @vladomachar6365
      @vladomachar6365 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, You are so right.. I was surprised by the results of DNA analysis regarding genetic of people from ex Yu. I expected that we would have at least a 20% share of Central or Asia Minor genetic material. However, the "Turkish" gene is an almost negligible occurrence in the genetics of all ex-Yu people, including Bosniaks too :). I 2 haplogroup, the one you call Dinaric (I agree) is contained in our genetic structure of 40 - 50% (Bosnian Croats from Central Bosnia about 50 %, Bosnian Serbs and Bosniaks about 45%, Serbs and Croats from Serbia and Croatia about 40 % and so on)... I found out some reasons. For example, in order to "solve" the problem of "the right to spend the first wedding night with woman" rule that the Ottoman lords had over the Serbs - many women, if there was even the slightest doubt that a child was conceived in that night, decided to have abortions and infanticide. Terrible, sad, brutal, just like the time in which they lived.

      @gbp4998 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@vladomachar6365 i did my dna test in Australia and it came back 100% Balkan. No mixture what so ever with any other nationality. The closest group of people my dna is closest are some parts of Dalmatia, Hercegovina, Montenegro and West Serbia. I was born in West Serbia. That part of the country has been known to be main rute for trade during Eastern Roman Empire and Dalmatia. A village where my great, great grandfather was born was actually established by Dalmatians. They left back to Dalmatia once the Ottomas invaded that region. Witch gives me a confirmation and explanation of my ancestors migration and closeness to the regions it shows today. It actually showed me the regions and how those closest relation to my dna moved over the last 450 years. I was very surprised. It also showed migration to USA from particular regions. Witch means that people from Balkan are reginized as specific group diferent to others like Bulgarians Greeks Romanias Albanians or Turks. Now, they do have Serbian dna since many of them took Islam and moved to Turkey. Those who lived there actually continue the Serbian tradition in folklor dancing and national costumes.

      @vladomachar6365 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gbp4998 Tnx for the interesting story. I know that main trading/traveling route was following Drina river so, if I could guess - I would say You were born somewhere between Ljubovija and Ivanjica. I was in Ivanjica recently, there are some forgoten small, very old bridge which people call - Latin :). It is not Latin certainly but it is funny how our ancient somehow kept their oldest memories and passed them down from generation to generation... I have similar dinaric DNA material because my family is originaly from Konavli, Dubrovnik region. This actually overturns the mainstream history of our country, which claims that we are newcomers from some obscure unknown regions around the Visla and the Dnieper river... And e.g. no one was surprised that the people who even mention Roman bridges (eg Trajan bridge over Danube), on the other hand, have not preserved any memory of the original homeland... If that were true, we would at least save something in out colective memory (epic songs), I suppose. This opened up space for many alternative theories that spread among people, especially through TH-cam... So, our youth is a bit confused I guess :)... However, I wish all the best to You and Your boys :). BR from Sarajevo (or from the mountain above the city) :)

    • @gbp4998
      @gbp4998 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I am from Loznica originaly. My ancestors on father side are from Radjevina region. Radj was one of Tzar Lazars knigths who survived battle of Kosovo. And that region caries the name after him. Amaizing how much knowledge was passed down from generation to generation about him. They said once he and his man returned back home from the battle, they stopped in one of the forest region near one of natural water springs to recovered from their wounds. They always said that particular spring has healing properties. He was later killed by Hungarians. Old people know names of Hungarians he bettled and who killed him in the end. In that region first Christian church was build by Dubrovčani and it is build in syle you can see in Dubrovnik and some other old Dalmatian cities. I have a book written by a priest Aleksandar Djurdjev called Radjevina, who spent time discovering history of that region. He is a priest in Dobrom Potoku near Krupanj city.
      Oh forgot to add in previous message. North East Italy all the way to Venetia were included in my Dna test as a regions were people are close geneticaly. It also tell us that there are no differences btw Serbs and Croatians. Dna support and confirms establisment of Serbian state and Nemanjic ruling with all Serbian lands. No wonder they are trying to falsifie the history now with dna results in Serbia. Also, strange how they have Ancestry dna in Croatia and not in Serbia but they have different dna (Me23 i think or somerhing lile that) company in Serbia. They are doing everything to separate the dna information for that region. And God knows how they are storing that info in Serbia.

      Anyone thinking one nation in Balkans remained "pure" is out of his mind, when there's been like thousand different people coming and going over last two thousand years alone. We are talking about Greeks, Romans, Celts, Huns, Mongols, Turks, Slavs, Avars, Germanic people, etc. It's literally impossible to reduce someone to one single genetic.

Interracial couplings have gained popularity in recent years due in part to the entertainment and advertising industries promoting it. However, it’s statistically far less common. Being interested in someone unique and exotic doesn’t necessarily translate into a romantic interest.

    It's not controversial to WANT men to be masculine or women to be feminine in your own relationship, but in my opinion, don't tell others how to run their relationship, that's my view. I like that he's direct. If he says 'I'm looking for x women'. I say, cool, that's me/not me and say hello/good bye.
    Don't know if it's just you being the interviewer and just a random comment, but I don't think it's scary at all. I think society needs to pick at the nuances. Don't hate on men/women that want this or that in women/men, but don't hate on people who want different things. Like compare the Norwegians on your channel who say things should be 50/50, and the Serbians here would disagree. It's not controversial to notice different cultures would disagree.
    Love your channel, don't take this as a hate lol. Just a healthy disagreement.

    I am from Serbia, Belgrade, and this guy has no clue about women :) Serbs are firstly funny, then full of confidance, we like to dance, to smile and we have no fear apraching women, and we usually aproach the most beautiful one - more we drink, braver we become and mroe beautiful girl we aproach is :) But most of all, we are so kind, can take "no" for an answer in most cases, and threat our girl with respect and attention (EVERYONE does that at the begining, later some of us get relaxed and lazy:). But most Serbian guys do not atract girls with standard, watch and money, only very small amout do this (because most of us don;t have that), we seduce girls with charms, selfconfedence, not being afraid of actually talking but really having conversation with girls, and being directive - kiss is a must on first date, or we Serbs think we have been turned down

    you dont need dating..just focus on yourself.. health, dressing, resilience, virtues, self improvement(mentally, physically, improve your abilities), get a job, and everything will fall in place...its easy but it needs work ;)

    I have to disagree with you on a few things 😉 First, not only Belgrade is Serbia, even though is her largest city. Serbia has a very big regional inequalities in almost every way. You've visited only one city and saying like, ok this is dating culture of Serbia. No, it's not. You would have to visit at least four cities in Serbia, make a documentary about it and then make a conclusion. You would be well surprised how men are different in every part of Serbia, in a good way :) Imagine someone going to USA in Miami only and say, this is american dating culture. It is silly and stupid to make a conclusion based on one city. Or go to Italy and visit only Rome, or in France only Paris. People in Belgrade are spoiled, rich, showoff, especially that pedestrian zone where you were filming. Most foreigners think that Serbia is only Belgrade, no it's not. Sameway that only NY, LA is not making USA. That's my advice to you, when you visit any country visit it north to south, west to east and then you can film and say: THIS is a dating culture :)))
    Greetings from Serbia 😉
