I really like the ideas shown for the 207. One of which I would love to see expanded on: "get it as small as mATX, but not mATX". Please do a mini version that's almost ITX size, but not ITX and fits up to mATX boards. That way you're getting a really small high function case with the GPU blower fans and other flush features. Loving the Walnut accents, and would be awesome if the wood panels were detachable, so you could purchase alternate panels with other wood grains/aluminum colors. Similar to Corsairs panels on their 6500 series.
We used to just buy a large case and put a slot fan in to suck out excess heat from the video card. The issue is that putting the PSU in the bottom, while it looks good, is the worst location as heat rises. So no space for a slot fan and no way to keep that trapped air from moving aside from idiocy like right angle riser cards. Those of us who were smart just bought old-school designs with the PSU on top. This, though, finally makes the bottom PSU design work. Also, you will still get better performance from a full size case and a top-mounted PSU. But for $90, this isn't going to break the bank, either.
The engineering discussion was so good! Very sharp (follow-up) questions, and very honest and informative answers! As a product manager in an IoT field, I enjoyed it a lot and both GN and Lian-Li show what they're worth as B2C companies. Love the reviews and products.
I got my first Lian Li product last year (a Lancool 216) and this thing is a monster of a case. Everything is completely modular and so maintenance friendly. The ability to strip it down by unscrewing like, what... 3 screws? The instructions are super easy and simple to read. I'm going to stick with them for cases on the long run. That wooden case looks so sexy.
that reverse spin to remove the dust on the fan blades is pretty neat, its really hard to get the dust out of those if you don't have like a small nozzle on your duster/vacuum, without using a brush which just scatters the dust everywhere
Lian Li has been killing it. The office I helped outfit with workstations had a toss up between the Lian Li 011 or the Fractal Torrent. We went with fractal torrent for it's raw performance, but I really want to field some 011's soon because of how well they perform, and how good they look.
Jameson explained the product really well and transparent, also an incredible level of knowledge, i know its his product but you can see how much thought he puts in in it. For Budget Cases the Lancool series will be the shit
i remember the days of finding the best budget case for the first few pc's i owned. insane to me that budget cases are pretty much at the level of top end cases back in the day, in terms of functionality and planning behind the little details. kudos to lian li for still trying to work on budget cases for anybody that is new to the hobby
ive had respect for lian li from WAY back, like back when everyone was making purple all aluminum cases. i've built in many of their rigs over the years, and the quality is always incredibly high, and their ingenuity continues to be top shelf. good on them. these are sharp looking boxes
I really like the optimized Layout of the Lancool 207. Too many cases are space inefficient nowadays, and I really appreciate that they optimized this case for space efficiency. I also like the PSU position, that allows a lower mainboard.
This is a great video ion Lian Li. I love how they are trying new things in the space, trying to innovate, their passion and wanting to share what they are doing. Thanks for making a video on them.
I applaud Lian Li for trying to make RGB more user friendly. I'm not sure if their current solution has quite hit the mark, but they are at least moving in a good direction. However, as someone who prefers a dark case, I would like to politely ask that they include a physical switch or jumper to disable all lighting (other than diagnostic lights) on products that a consumer might be buying primarily for reasons other than its use of RGB. I don't care if the light-up cables don't include a 'dark mode' switch because no one would buy those for any reason other than the RGB. However, when it comes to AIO's, case fans, and cases themselves where I might purchase because of performance, reliability, the snap-together interface of the fans, etc. I would like a simple way to completely shut off the lighting without needing software. I have no problem with people who love RGB, and I understand that some products are going to include it, even if it isn't a feature I care for. All I ask is that folks like me who would rather turn the RGB off be able to do so without having to install and/or constantly run a piece of software to do so. Right now, if I want to turn off all the non-diagnostic accent lighting in my PC, I need several different pieces of software, some of which need to be run every time the system restarts. Some of those pieces of software have been used as attack vectors by hackers in the past, and some of them are surprisingly resource hungry when all I do with them is turn all the lights off. I'm not saying Lian Li's software is bad, but I really wish I didn't need any 3rd party software just to opt out of RGB lighting.
Love how Jameson Chen spent most of the video paraphrased: "Yeah, people complain about this a lot, so here's how we're trying to fix it. Hopefully it helps." The dude straight up said "This will mean people have to buy less [of our stuff]" and said it like it was a good thing (@ 19:13 and @ 22:57). Please never stop being CEO.
The Lian Li CEO really is devoted to innovate in pc case architecture, and he's the only one doing it mostly with big changes in the case market, He seems so nice !
Love lian li, my last two builds were lian li, though I remember 20 years ago when they were an expensive boutique case company and seeing dudes bring those cases to my lans, i was pretty jealous but not like 300 dollars jealous. keep up the awesome work
Yes, bring back larger intake fans. Assuming the fans are good they should perform better while beein more quiet, also they look better in my opinion as opposed to having a bunch of ugly and space wasting mounting holes/brackets for 120mm and 140mm fans.
Counterpoint to "2.4 GHz is congested" -- we moved wifi to 5 and 6 GHz for many reasons, but one was that 2.4 was used by lots of crap. Let's NOT start moving random stuff like RGB lighting to 5 also, please let's KEEP that kind of stuff on 2.4 so wifi doesn't slide back down the same hill on the congestion front.
I absolutely love my LL lancool 216 and loved building in it. By far the most modular case I've ever built in. The fact I paid less than $100 for it just shows Lian Li is above all in the case game.
The 216 is very much top of the tree in that size category. Closely followed by some of the Fractal stuff - what a time to be alive - multiple great case manufacturers. And Corsair......
I love my Lian Li 205M Mesh. Cheap and quality product, two things that usually don't go hand in hand. Only two drawbacks are dust buildup from two 140mm in the front, and tempered glass panel is not on hinges.
I'm impressed with the amount of wood they used to integrate into the case! That being said something that ive noticed the other case makers not doing is the inclusion of brass or other metal accents like the north and tbh i think that was the other really big highligjt on the north that really set it apart and still does.
I really like the inside view of an interesting approach in developing a connection to a fan (or even more + RGB), by only using 12v from the fan header and do the controlling wireless. Removes the hole rgb header + cable clutter from the build. less waste, less space needed.
I am always impressed when I hear from Jameson. Lian Li is constantly pushing fan and RGB tech forward the past few years. It's great he really listens to the feedback from consumers and is creating new products to solve those problems. Excited to see how these wireless fans work later this year. Also, the idea behind the $80 seems spot on.
I'm concerned for the psu exhaust for the Lancool 207. Depending on how you place the case on your desk, the exhaust might hit your mouse hand. It would for my layout.
Neat idea. My go-to for decades was a slot fan in the bottom to get the same type of airflow to the card. It made a 10C difference, on average. This looks like they have simply included the "slot fan". My recommendation, though, would be to test it with the fans in the push and pull configurations. I think you will find that it works better pulling the hot air out of the case. A simple negative pressure design. This of course, sucks in more dust, but gets the hot air out of the case as quickly as possible.
Bought a Aerocool Trinity Mini-G-BK-v2 in March, added PWM fans & some mesh against dust in front/bottom & couldnt be happier, concidering the 40€ pricetag & open design!
After watching case reviews on GN I ended up with the Lian Li Cool Mesh II. Super happy with what I got in performance and at a very reasonable price I'd buy it again.
I really love lian li. they have open mind in criticism. their warranty is way way good. they have my first version of gallahad replaced, All of them including fans and they did not bother asking much question, they just sent new one. they rock! awesome vid steve!
It'll be interesting to see how their wooden cases perform. It's the new "RGB" case design since Fractal did it so successfully with the Terra and North series (which, imo, are still the best looking implementations of wood into a case so far by a far margin). The Lancool updates are definitely interesting, I'll be eagerly awaiting the review by this channel to see how it performs. Not sure how I feel about that front mount PSU look, but if it improves cooling, so be it. Lian Li is definitely one of the more involved and passionate hardware companies in the space right now. It's nice to see in a world of conglomerate Corsair and others that are largely disconnected.
Seeing all this news about new products lately makes me somewhat glad that I am waiting and saving up disposable income for upgrading my PC this year, some interesting things that I may integrate with my system!
My previous gaming PC case was from Lian Li. Used it since 2009 or so. My current gaming PC uses a budget case from a different brand but I might consider Lian Li for the next one.

I like GN Sneak missions.
That Lancool 207, if it comes in white, will be my new case for this year....depending on your review.
a case like the 207 that fits a eatx board would be a dream
The 207 looks interesting. Looks like a case upgrade in the works.
i remember the days of finding the best budget case for the first few pc's i owned. insane to me that budget cases are pretty much at the level of top end cases back in the day, in terms of functionality and planning behind the little details. kudos to lian li for still trying to work on budget cases for anybody that is new to the hobby
ive had respect for lian li from WAY back, like back when everyone was making purple all aluminum cases. i've built in many of their rigs over the years, and the quality is always incredibly high, and their ingenuity continues to be top shelf. good on them. these are sharp looking boxes
These are the videos that you do that I love the most... Keep up the excellent work.
Good stuff Lian Li!!
Especially, the Lancool 207 seems very promising at this price for a new standard recommendation across friends building PCs.
I really like the optimized Layout of the Lancool 207. Too many cases are space inefficient nowadays, and I really appreciate that they optimized this case for space efficiency.
I also like the PSU position, that allows a lower mainboard.
I've been using that dust filters for decades. Happy to see that from out-of-factory spec. Thanks!
That wood/black case is gorgeous. Hope you do reciews for all of these!
I love the look of tht 217.
Love how Jameson Chen spent most of the video paraphrased: "Yeah, people complain about this a lot, so here's how we're trying to fix it. Hopefully it helps."
The dude straight up said "This will mean people have to buy less [of our stuff]" and said it like it was a good thing (@ 19:13 and @ 22:57). Please never stop being CEO.
Man, it's getting exciting seeing new things this time around.
The Lian Li CEO really is devoted to innovate in pc case architecture, and he's the only one doing it mostly with big changes in the case market, He seems so nice !
Love lian li, my last two builds were lian li, though I remember 20 years ago when they were an expensive boutique case company and seeing dudes bring those cases to my lans, i was pretty jealous but not like 300 dollars jealous. keep up the awesome work
That 217 Wood case is beautiful. Now I have to find a suitable plant to put in it to complete the nature look.
Yes, bring back larger intake fans. Assuming the fans are good they should perform better while beein more quiet, also they look better in my opinion as opposed to having a bunch of ugly and space wasting mounting holes/brackets for 120mm and 140mm fans.
That LanCool 217 looks really slick! Hoping you get an early review in for that one. :)
lian li guy is a champ for being so humble and explaining everything in detail !
I love how Lian Li never shy away from your questions. They just straight up answer every question you throw at them. No beating around the bush.
Counterpoint to "2.4 GHz is congested" -- we moved wifi to 5 and 6 GHz for many reasons, but one was that 2.4 was used by lots of crap. Let's NOT start moving random stuff like RGB lighting to 5 also, please let's KEEP that kind of stuff on 2.4 so wifi doesn't slide back down the same hill on the congestion front.
always nice to see lian li and what they come up with . I'm also pretty happy with my lancool 216
I like that woodpanel case. Looks neat on or under the desk.
Very excited for the 217. The wood accents are really nice on my eyes, and the ability to reverse the fans is nice as well.
Some heat exchanger / air-con unit also have similar reverse spin mechanism to reduce dust.
Wow, this was a great video. The hard questions and generally good answers.
I'm concerned for the psu exhaust for the Lancool 207.
Depending on how you place the case on your desk, the exhaust might hit your mouse hand. It would for my layout.
I'm loving the 207's design. Just the easy access to the fans and filters themselves for cleaning makes me want to buy one to replace my current case.
I just finished a 70950x3d in a 011rgb case... i could not be happier. it's a beautiful solution, albeit rather large.
4:50 The side intake on the bottom is filtered, but the rear of the case (which will also be intake for the bottom compartment) isn't.
these aren't released yet, are they? they'll probably add a removable filter on the back before release
got to love the Roar of the fans in the background
The idea of the PSU at the front/bottom, is the reason I’m still waiting for the Modfree to arrive in the UK. Brilliant idea.
Lian-Li is one of the few companies that I actually respect. If I ever swap out my PC case, I will go with these guys for sure!
I really love lian li. they have open mind in criticism. their warranty is way way good. they have my first version of gallahad replaced, All of them including fans and they did not bother asking much question, they just sent new one. they rock! awesome vid steve!
I'm wanting to get the white lian li 207 case. Thanks for the vid!
I hope the RGB transmitters and receivers will be optional. The cases have potential, but I wouldn't want to waste money on RGB lighting support.
I've been using a double wide LIAN LI PC-D600 I bought 10 years ago. Still my favorite PC case.
I like this new approach making cases smaller 👍
Lian Li is for sure one of the few companies in this industry still trying to innovate, good stuff!
Bottom fan intake for the graphics card is such an underrated feature. It's nice to give the hottest component in your case some fresh, cool air.
I bought Lian Li 215 cause of your review! Such a good case! Dropped my temps by 25 degrees in comparison to the old one :P
That $80 case looks perfect for my kids desks. Love the airflow design on my Lancool II, and that seems like a compact version of it.
My previous gaming PC case was from Lian Li. Used it since 2009 or so. My current gaming PC uses a budget case from a different brand but I might consider Lian Li for the next one.
Really looking forward to the development of wireless RGB. No words can describe how hyped I am for that.
I think RGB cables look amazing. Those of us who dont make custom water loops can now enjoy an interesting look.
Looking forward to GN's review of the 207, looks great!
