I saw the Mob in London in '83. I saw the Mob again last night. They were terrific. They haven't lost a thing. They are one of the best punk bands to come out of England.
The Cravats definitely have a different sort of sound if your into this sort of stuff, kinda jazzy but still hits you in the feels. All the best for your dad getting out
this album is the embodiment of anarcho punk at it's best!!!! i have blasted this album out for 30 years and it still stands out alone in all it's glory!!!
The Mob. What a band, I have loved the realism of this album for my adult life. I'm now 52 and cannot remember not having this record. Kinda ironic listening to it through today's technology compares to vynal
STILL the finest album of that anarcho punk era, spoke to people like me, even though I was into the whole anarcho ethos(and still am) I was still just a working class geezer from the East End of London who didnt or couldnt squat etc. Anyway first time ive played this in a while and its still the bollox...love a 53 year old git :-)
Wound up buying this record because I went up to pay for some stuff at Everyday Music on Sandy Boulevard in Portland Oregon (sadly closed) in the early 2000's and the guy behind the counter looked at me and saw I was dressed punk (stretch jeans, Converse, studded jean jacket with patches/pins, bondage belt). He said something like, "I think you would like this" and slid it across the counter to me to look at. I'd never heard of it, but it was used and $8.50 and thought it was super cool someone who obviously knew about punk genuinely cared/gave a f**k enough to recommend something to some dead-end kid from nowhere. Anyway, bought it and loved it. It's very different than most fast punk, slower and more unnerving and pretty depressing, even the cover image evokes strong feelings, but being used to the trees/rain/cloudy days of the Pacific Northwest and being alone pretty much all the time - it was perfect and makes you think introspectively. Learned later on from other people I knew or reading stuff or listening to stuff that the band was highly influential/known/regarded, etc. I have a love/hate relationship with punk because of a lot of stuff being cliche/redone, but this is good stuff and I'll always give it a thumbs up. Real punk for the outcasts and those that like to think rather than be numb all day. Vancouver Washington / PDX punks Forever.
Just heard this for the first time 2 minutes ago on some dudes channel while he was showing off his vinyl ,found this lp and fell in love with it .HOLY SHIT
Sounds just like I did back in the early 80s mate ,still sounds great now as it did then ,things don't change sadly the shitty people trying to control us free thinking folk ,✌️👍🤯
One of the best albums ever total classic brought it when it came out still have it with the free poster brilliant band one of the best Anarcho bands along with Zounds
J Church covers "No Doves Fly Here" on their 1995 Nostalgic For Nothing LP. RIP Lance Hahn (J Church singer/guitarist & Maximumrocknroll writer) 1967-2007. Lance = legendary punk rocker. He sadly passed before his time from kidney-related medical problems. Both records released by the Broken Rekids label, Jay in 1995, The Mob reissue in 2001.
@@ChaddHamilton I don't have any and I really regret it, all I have is photos and the flyer. On top of playing I promoted and was do stressed on getting them their money I didn't have anyone film it... :/
One of my favorite albums of early 80s. some of their songs are songs are still so current like "which hunt" ! "Stubbing out progress where seeds are sown, Killing off anything that's not quite known" What we experiment today with small groups who decide to burn you on public places is scaring. We are like living in Iran or Pakistan today, Chinese revolution culture in late 60s ! It's ominous !
I was one of those post punk folk in the mid eighties who liked everything from the exploited to joy Division and the cure and the jesus and Mary chain. I always loved let the tribe increase by the mob, just a fabulous album. Might I suggest a flux of pink Indians as well. Another great band!
Was at school when i heard Let the Tribe Increase and No Doves Fly Here EP in the mid 80s and theyre still my favourite band from the anarcho scene Witch Hunt Gates of Hell and No Doves especially
Great post. It's funny, but was living in a squat in the early 80s and everyone put their records in the living room until the junkies moved in. So stuff would just get played while we were keeping warm around the fireplace in winter. Thanks
Hi folks, saw the mob a few times, even bootleged them. always a great night out. Never got to see crass tho for various dumb ass reasons. bom shanka. Dick Cubitt x

Very intelligent lyrics which is something new for a lot of punk bands in the round...But not all, the Pistols and a lot of the first wave bands in particular...Listenable...
Ah..... early 80s.... that whole 'positive punk' thing when we couldn't decide whether we wanted to wear biker jackets or long coats from Oxfam, listen to Crass or Joy Division. Nice times. Have to say, at 53, I only think Witch Hunt stands out now, rest feel a bit same-y.
They were / are an Anarcho punk band they had nothing to do with positive punk neither have any of the other bands you mentioned Positive Punk was invented by the NME didnt last long & only featured 2 bands Blood & Roses(brilliant) & Brigandage.
