Maybe it's an Americanized version of the film, but since it’s about consent and the consequences of being passive, I think a finale where the characters change their attitude to a more active approach still gets the point across. The difference, though, is that I actually feel invested and interested in their victory. In the original, the protagonists are so passive that they become ridiculous, and when they were stoned, I was actually happy because they pissed me off. Nice video by the way, but if I can offer some constructive criticism, I'd suggest tightening up the commentary and getting to the point a bit quicker. You spend a bit too much time describing scenes frame by frame, which dilutes the overall message!
Thanks so much for the detailed comments and especially the constructive criticism! Always happy to receive it and it makes sense. Will work on trying to summarize more so the video is tighter overall!
Honestly, I much prefer the American ending. I mean the husband was extremely unlikable and a huge beta male throughout the entire movie, but they did not deserve to die XD some movies I want the villains to win but not this one for sure XD
The husband was so useless! Like literally everyone else had a role except for him. I guess he did save Ant from drowning, and also broke his leg to get the ladder.
the point of the original ending isnt that they deserved to die. Them not deserving it is what makes it such a powerful ending new ending makes the whole movie feel cliche.
@@user-il9ze9py8c I think the term still starts with a B. That father was a b****. Though I did love how in the final sequence literally everyone but him did something.
The "cultural differences" thing, is something exclusive to the american audience. I dont know how different you think you are to british people but you are the same. Also, the kids aren't supposed to speak different languages the fact that he writes the note in a foreign alphabet is a pretty big clue something is off lol
And want something more exciting. But, like I said, I did like that they changed it up since at least it is not a shot for shot remake of the original.
No offense but I think it's so stupid that in the original basically they let them get stoned to death and tell him to take all their clothes off. There's no way in hell a real person would stand there, take all their clothes off, lay in the quarry of rocks and get stoned to death. Nobody in their right mind would do that because these people had no weapons whatsoever so they could have attacked them at any point. They could have thrown stones at their attacker. They could have done whatever they wanted to after the guy cut the child's tongue out. So there is no way in hell that is real. That is a fake as you can get and that's what I hated about the movie because quote" nobody in their right mind is going to let somebody do that to you physically. I sure as hell am not. I'm going to fight back with every ounce of my body and if I win fine. But I'm damn sure going out with the fight and if I've got rocks there I'm going to throw them at him and hit him right in the face. There's no way in hell. I'm stripping all my clothes off totally nude having the wife strip nude no, it's it's the movie sucks. It was a terrible movie. I hated it. It was very upsetting and I'm hoping the remake changes the ending, which I have no plans on seeing. That's why I'm hoping you'll spoil it for me and tell him at the ending because I heard it's a completely different ending and as a happy ending. So I don't think America will have the balls to do what the Danish film did. And to me it's one of the worst films I've ever seen for the Danish and I know you loved it. I know you're in it or whatever as far as Blu-ray. I respect that as a person as a fan of horror, but I hated the movie
in a way you could almost imagine the remake as a sequel, especially since they reference having a daughter previously. would have been interesting if one of the pictures had been of the original's family.
Well, the original they had a son too. But yes, you could think of it that way... that this is just the natural progression of what they did in the first one. But it's also pretty much shot for shot for the first 2/3 of it.
@@WatchorPassI think it's more of a thought that similar events could have occurred in both versions. any reference to the original would be an Easter egg at most. but they didn't go for that. would be interesting to do a horror 'franchise' where different language 'remakes' were part of the story like it was some malevolent force reoccurring in different places.
@@ringofbrass Oh for sure, that would have been a better way to do the remake. Like they have now relocated to America or something and they meet up at a resort in New York or something and then invite them up to their house in Canada. That would have been an interesting way to handle this!
Lame. My friend who saw a screening lied to me lol. She said the ending wasn’t watered down. I was hoping at least one of the two parent protagonists would die just to have something dour happen.
It's not really watered down so much as it's a completely different drink. It's still tense and has some dire situations and gore, but a VERY different flavor than the original.
Seems like a feeling of power and also they get some financial benefits too. In the remake, they basically rob the family and make them drain their bank account. I think it's more the feeling of power over the other family.
YES!! That's the ending I was hoping for!! (Thanks for sharing!!)
To many saw the original so we needed a slightly different ending

The father was whatever comes after beta. His spirit animal is a dog that submissively pees if anyone makes a sudden move.

@@WatchorPass The small child who has a panic attack if they don't have their binkey with them had far more strength and courage than the father.
I don't believe James McAvoy's new villain role might've been his second major one ever since portraying Kevin Wendell Crumb.
Crumb ?
From Split. The man with different personalities. He’s evil lady Patricia and mastermind Dennis. But is adorable as Hedwig, who has red socks.

This reminds me of when my sister told me about the American remakes of Straw Dogs and Martyrs vs the originals. Americans always just wanna win.
And want something more exciting. But, like I said, I did like that they changed it up since at least it is not a shot for shot remake of the original.
And don't forget the remake of À l'intérieur/Inside, another upbeat ending!!!!
one quick question. Was there any nudity in the film?
Thanks for the spoilers.

Nothing is innocent. The villains do this vile act over and over and over again.
Good Video, keep going🔥🔥💯
Thanks so much for watching and for the kind words!
I like the fact the movie used the Hayes Code which states the villain of a movie can't live another day to do evil.
But I loved that about the first movie. It was so sinister and unexpected.
@@WatchorPass I hated what they did to Agnes in the original! I am glad Agnes in the remake stood up for herself

Didn’t know it was called that 😅 but we could always have a prequel ( that’s how we got orphan 2 😅

In the original the villains cut off the tongues of young children and brutally kill them.
