    Moringa During Karkidakam:
It is best to avoid moringa leaves during mid July to mid August, this period is known as the "karkidaka masam" in Kerala. Its a month of continuous rains in Kerala. Because of heavy rains, and no sunlight nothing blooms or grows well during this period. Drumstick or Moringa trees were traditionally planted near open wells. It has the ability to suck lot of water along with other toxins and store it in its trunk. Chances are that during karkada masam, the toxins would be released into its leaves.
Which is why traditional seers and ayurvedic practioners would suggest not consuming moringa leaves during this time of the year. However, most moringa tree will shed the leaves during this period. So, it is best not to pluck fresh moringa leaves during this period and consume.

Thank you for sharing this. Being part Filipino, we love the fresh leaves in recipes but anytime I went the prune my tree just to reduce the size or for food, there was always way too much and it grows back heavily in a few short weeks (even when cut down to the stump). My landlord even suggested I cut it down completely until I told him we eat it (just not that much). Wasn't sure what to do with so much that we would waste most as it is in abundance on everyone's property. Once I left the leaves out to long and they dried and I was wondering if pulverizing it into powder would be just this simple without any extra addition or preservation. That's how I found this. Thank you so much! (Also the powder is easier to hand out and share with others in a way we don't usually utilize malungay).

Hello Nisa ji. I have been following this and really delighted with the yield. Friends with cancer have been using this and are happy too. One question I have for you. In another video you had said, 'remove discolored leaves'. Often the Moringa leaves have a bunch that are discolored - light and dark patterns on the leaves. Can you explain to me what this discoloration is due to? My gardener who is not trained in any manner, not a cook, not knowledgeable in nutrition -- says it's ok to use them. But now I want to explain to him why these leaves are not ok. Could you kindly tell what causes discoloration and why these should be avoided?

i had a urinary tract infection and it bothers me cause it keeps coming back and im tired of drinking antibiotics. so i tried to juice it and drank it before sleeping, that night before i sleep, i peed very painfully. the next day, i peed again, i was surprised it never hurt anymore. its been years and i dont have to suffer from it again. if you have issues like this, try this... this is really helpful.
