gg everyone who played black ops zombies, spent countless hours learning new maps on launch day to do the easter eggs. gg to those who played on kino and got to round 6 and died to dogs. gg to you reading this, its been an emotional roller coaster, the only story i was interested in throughout my childhood to this day. i loved watching the story develop, as I developed as a person with the story. Now watching the ending as a 17 year old who started playing at 9 years old when my brother forced me to play nacht on his brand new ps3. been hooked ever since. gg to you, live a good life :)

I found myself frustrated at this ending at first...
Then the more I looked at it the more I understood that this was it, there were no other options left.
Even if Monty was killed and things returned to some state of peace, the same horrors would continue to the same crews in some other time and place.
Sure our crews were badass, brave, annoying, upfront at times, and had bonds like no other.
But in the end they were all only human, facing challenges no other person should.
It was truly an experience with everyone who stuck by my side slaying the hellpig scum and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

The universe was at an imbalance. Even if they went back to stop the apothicons ahead of time to cancel all this out it would have still happened. No matter what they did. Because if they did stop it, they would not be allowed to exist and for that it would happen without them causing them to exist.

You seriously don't get the ending, if that's what you took away from it.
This was never going to end in a fire fight, and Richtofen knew that Nikolai was the only one who could deal with that fact. He lulled them into a false sense of hope; that they'd get to fight The Great War and defeat Dr. Monty.
But in the end, he realised their immortal souls need to die in order for the cycle to break. They wouldn't do it themselves. He had to poison them, Richtofen had to use the Victis Crew as a means to an end, Nikolai had to shoot Richtofen... And Samantha was the one of two pure innocent souls left in this universe. With them gone, she and Eddie can head towards a brighter future.

This isn't like Origins' fakeout which would've been a great twist, but of course the community had to bitch and moan about it. This is what you got, and if you didn't like it? Well then you've not been playing Zombies long enough.
N-Gin & TonicTM I’m only 13, yet understood the impact. I’ve been learning the story slowly since I was 9, and so I too believe that this is the way the story should have ended. It wasn’t Treyarch “spitting in our faces” like HighFall said, but rather a satisfying ending to a long running series, where our heroes, tired of fighting, are finally at peace. “But at the laste, as every thing hath ende, She took hir leve, and nedes wolde wende (All good things must come to an end)” - Geoffrey Chaucer, 1300s.

I agree man but the bright side is that the chaos story characters are actually really good. Perhaps new zombies players will play with those 4 characters for the next 10 years and cry when they see the chaos storyline end like how we did with aether.

I like how this music points to all of us who stuck by WAW, We grown beards, Our voice deepened, Life got more harder. The music tells us that everything we did in our childhood with zombies meant something. You shot zombies like nobody else, You solved steps when nobody could. You thrashed boss zombies when everyone else fell. You watched four soldiers fight their last battle, And you watched as four legends fought against themselves and eventually died themselves. The story is over, You are now an adult. Zombies was a game you loved but it’s time to move on, Go live your zombie free life and make it count.
Strange thing is, some of us here have probably played together in public lobbies, from WaW to BOCW, and we didn't even know it.

The story really started with that one radio... the radio in Der Riese where you could hear Samantha running into the MPD... I miss that feeling of discovering that a little girl was controlling the zombies from the Moon...

I spent all of my childhood's free time to play zombie mode, I still remember my first game on Nacht, I've made 5 rounds and I died, I was afraid of zombies but my bro and sis were here playing with me.
Now, I'm 17 and I have to say goodbye at the Aether storyline, which is difficult to be honest, I don't want it to stop, I have so many good memories, with my friends when we completed the first EE on Ascension when I was 11 or 12, when we were interested by the story more than making rounds.
The ending Tag der Toten provided us is more than good, in my opinion it's the better end I've watched/read. Ours characters can finally sleep and live a normal live, without 115, zombies, apothicons, Monty, etc.
But Samantha lives even if the multiverse is nothing more than obscurity, she's still alive. She was suffering all the time, and now she have to live in the new universe with all the memories she had.
Thank you Treyarch for becoming the n°1 mod of all games ever published, thank you, and goodbye.

Jesus...it's been a year and even now, this song gets me emotional, and makes me truly realize just how special zombies is.
At 1:21 is where my heart wretches in sadness. It builds up while silently saying “This is it. This is where you must say goodbye to these heroes that you grew up with for so long. It is their time.” You don’t want to, but it must be done. At the end of the day, these are regular people going through something that no one should ever have to go through. That’s why it ended the way it did. Through pain, torment, horror, and strength, they found peace. Salvation lied above and they Ascended from Darkness.
It’s already been 2 years and this still stings a little. We all fought and laughed and loved with these characters for 11 years, and they gave us a story that could never be forgotten

Bo5 is not a sequal, its a prequal to bo4. Bo5 is set in the cold war. The campaign is set between the events of the Bo1 and Bo2 campaign.
Zombies? Zombies is starting off in the Dark Aether Storyline with Samantha Maxis as an adult working for the KGB, an American based organisation in 1983. She obtained a package from her late friend Tatyana which contained video recordings. These recordings held WW2 footage of "Die Maschine". A russian research facility located underneath a decrepit bunker. This, is where Cold War Zombies begins...
1:20( in nikolais voice) its over, the cycle has been broken, for everyone, brock and Gary, trapped wanderers, the cold, gangsters, filled with regret and despair, the stars, who died fighting till their last breath,Sammy's crew, a group of misfits,Dempsey old crew, who all died in fear. The honorable presidents and dictator who fought until they won,and us, a mad scientist, a drunk sorrowful man, a fearless marine, and an honorable soilder, all of this led to the cycle breaking, you, no, we, all of us, may now rest... goodjob, freinds

People spend hundreds of thousands of dollars making massive budget games, and the rest have us have been invested in the lives of these characters. It’s beautiful. I’ll never forget them. And certainly never forget the nicest one.
Damm I remember playing kino with my friends every day I got off of School I will never forget the night when my dad bought me the xbox360 and bo1 the first thing I played was Kino I remember that map scaring the shit out of me I will always remember the all nighters I would hit trying to get to a high round I will always remember my dad taking away my Xbox for being so loud at 4 in the morning. I grew up with these characters they helped get through rough times. These characters weren't just fictional characters. They were family. Thank you Treyarch

They weren’t the best characters, maybe because they were the most annoying but with the help of T. E. D. D and the disappearance of Avogadro we still have a place where we love them, Victus
Three mobsters on the rooftop who were killed by the one and only weasel and the mob of the dead
Citizens of Morg City who could take form of a beast with electrical powers and help the shadow man gain more power and trick them into world domination
3 powerful men fighting alongside the president himself to defeat the horde’s attack on the pentagon
May not have been reality but to the other 4 marines and a mischievous chicken.. being kidnapped by an ape? And soon being avenged by a cyber ape? Well we all love dead ops right guys?!
He gave us the perks, custom jingles, gum balls to chew and give power, chalk to weapons but was a villain in the end, we all know who this man is..
The ravaging furies, keepers, meteorites, parasites let’s not forget “margwa is not real”
To the drunken Russian, single samurai, crazed doctor and ass kicking marine, Ultimus
Blasts of green energy, double zap weapons to make one, a burst laser blaster, one explosive plus a green blast equals black holes, electrical beams of chains, weapon that turns undead to man, explosive snipers, undead meet a thunder blast cannon, 4 bows with elements of great destruction.
Many more to come, many things missed out but will be missed
The emperor fond of jealousy, he shown the dying samurai spirit inside of him, wielding a staff of fire
Fallen marines, loss but courage and bravery shown in his acts, wielding the lightning staff where he stands
Could be mad, could be strange, could be wicked and could be evil, but he’s shown the light inside of him, standing with his four brothers, guiding them to a better tomorrow and trying to undo the events of Germany’s disasters holding the ice staff to freeze his evil acts
Before the bombs fell, before his beloved was taken from him, his alternate counter part gave up and drank his pain away where he still stands trying to make the world that was consumed by evil a better place, one for where the children are safe and sound, he knew what he had to do, and in his heart he knew ending the storyline was the right thing for the children.. holding the staff of wind to blow away the ashes of the past...
Sorry guys, I just got really emotional about the storyline, i got carried away 😂 but this was a short tribute of the heroes of aether, if I didn’t get everything then my bad..

It honeslty hits not having the old crew back. Started Zombies back in Bo1 myself on Kino and got back into it in Black Ops 4. It is pretty wild to see how these characters evolved. It feels strange playing Cold War because it just feels so empty without the older cast of iconic characters we've all grown to love over the years. Black Ops 4 will hold a special place in me as it's the first Call Of Duty Zombies I put a lot of time in to get all the trophies on PS4, get Master Prestige, meet everyone I have met, go through the many tasks and Easter eggs and most importantly connect so much with the characters of Ultimis and Primis. I know chaos is in BO4 as well but Aether I know is what ended ❤️
Yeah i understand. I was really connected to them, too (i was the main person pushing for narrative, and also help write World at War and Black Ops 1, in addition to casting those guys). But those characters also grew over time and became what they are now. It wasn't instant. This is a new story and I think it just needs time to grow, too.
No thank you for all the wonderful music, it's been an insane 10+ years with crazy experiences each year from this game. From the good to the bad it's been a wonderful ride but one thing's always been consistant, and that's been the outstanding music from you, Kevin Sherwood, and the rest of the sound team at treyarch. Honestly to do the amazing work you guys do in every single game deserves a lot more recognition than it already gets.

When I saw the ending cutscene I was sad and this bonus game mode turned into my favorite and now with bo6 this is nostalgic
I need to give this speech its been waiting for 10 years. Thank you treyarch, blundell, and even jimmy zelinski. I am so eternally grateful for zombies, it has motivated me to choose my career path as a storyteller/director. I have been following the story ever since i was a child and now i am an adult. It is absolutely crazy to see this end and i know that we got a not so great ending to zombies in terms of budget cuts, but nonetheless i am eternally grateful for zombies. Of course i wish things were different business wise. If activision stopped with the micro dlc and the futuristic approach a few years ago COD would still be highly respected and maybe we wouldnt be in this budget cutting shithole. Not to mention zombies was basically the only thing keeping the black ops series alive. That being said im still happy with how it ended despite how this paragraph sounds.

I could be wrong but it sounds like it has parts from “Remember Forever” (the Zombies Chronicles song) which is ironic because both Primis Richtofen and Nikolai said throughout bo4 “no one would remember” but they play this song during the ending of it all because we’re the ones left to remember everything that happened over the course of 11 years.

The dialogues of these characters just goes to show how far they've come over the past few years. It's not top tier character development, but it's certainly something for what started out as a group of stereotypes and character traits. And this music just shows you how far the sheer scale of the series has come. It's magnificent..
This really made me cry like shit hurts knowing the memories with family and friends and most of us are grown now so thinking back to the days when things were simple 🥺😢
It doesnt seem real, memories of late nights in 2011, ecxitement that led up to these moments now never to be felt again, it makes me wonder what we as a family will do now knowing that our heroes are at rest. Maybe its time for us to rest, or begin the great adventure in our lives, thank you treyarch for 10 best years of my life.

I didn’t play zombies since the “og days” as I only found it like 5 years ago when my brother asked me to play nacht with him. Ever since, I have been keeping up and telling him all about it. For me, it was Primis Takeo that got me the most.
He said in BOTD that he would have liked to have built a house. Instead, he gave up those dreams to serve an emperor that would reward Takeo’s loyalty with cruelty (by his own words).
His final wish indicated one of two potential outcomes:
1. He gave up more than just a dream to build a house, but to start a family and be at peace.
2. Ever since he killed his Ultimus counterpart and learned of his Emperor’s betrayal, Takeo has spent time on thinking on what HE (not the Emperor) wants and only at the end did he finally find it.
Say what you want about Ultimus Takeo but Primis Takeo has got to be up there with Primis Richtofen as one of the best zombies characters.
when i was a 3 years old my brother showed me black ops 2 zombies.He told me if you wanna play zombies.I said yes he always revive me on tranzit but i still like it .Today my brother graduated high school,he is now a father.For me today i am 12 years old still play zombies.When i saw the ending i was crying i hugged my brother, he said what happen?I said thank you for showing me zombies.He said thank you to.I said why.He said because you were my first friend i had because i was getting bullied because he had ADHD (me to).Thank you treyarch, thank you vanoss, thank you to my brother introduce me to zombies 😪

Dude i remember my first time playing zombies ever and I remember being so bad at it but that's not what I like about it I like zombies because it was a creative idea that treyarch thought they weren't going to go anywhere with this game mode and it ended up being a huge part of everyone's lives goodbye aether for all the fun I've had for all the people that I've become friends with over zombies this is something that can never be forgotten

This makes me sad to this day to think the beloved characters we played as for 10 years are gone and it's still sad even though the Aether story ended 2 and half years ago.
