The only kickback you'll get from using 7PRC for "getting into long range shooting" is the magnum cartridges are not beginner friendly. The recoil creates a lot of training scars and can greatly reduce your precision consistency with lack of experience. I would suggest 6.5creedmoor. The Bravo and the Oryx are both cheaper than the Outlier chassis once you add everything you need.

@rugerdogg5316 one con I failed to mention is i got the stainless bull barrel with no flutes and it is stupidly heavy. Great for low recoil bench shooting, but you may want to go for the flutes version if you want some mobility.
I need to give them a try again, had a bad experience a few years ago with their highest end offering. As I zoomed in the entire reticle rotated counterclockwise and the illumination never worked. Sample size of one though
@@TexasPlinking Yeah, same (well different issue) thing here... Mine was that it didn't track for sh!t! I sent it back, got it back and although was good initially when I first got it back, after a couple firings on a 300wm, the tracking was way off again, so something was clearly going on inside (coming loose), thus I gave up on it and threw it in the trash.
Fantastic idea for a build! I always see your shooters with a fluted bolt. Is a fluted bolt any benefit compared to a standard smooth bolt like my REM 700?
Thinking about getting the base chassis (basically $100) just to try as I have several actions just sitting here. I can make my own rail and stock and save a bunch. The prices are very misleading as the options will add up in a hurry then the shipping is crazy high to boot. Sorry Outlier, the 25% off thing is like shopping at hobby lobby.
This is awesome! I'm looking to build a similar copy now that you shared this. If I have to purchase a new action and trigger, do you recommend the remington 700 or would you go with another?
I noticed quite a few rounds didn't appear in frame. What was the deal there? I mean it was like hit, hit, no splash anywhere in frame. Seemed really odd. Was that ammo related, shooter error?
I was wondering the same thing, I figured I would take a closer look when I get home at the camera. It was fairly damp, so sometimes it just hits a damp part of the dirt or a plant and it just totally absorbs. My best guess.
i would like to see someone with long distance skills shoot a gas gun for precision and really put it through its paces. maybe one day ill get my ar in 6 arc a good run for its money

Thanks for sharing! How much effort did it take to get it to feed? I got the chassis for a ruger American and a shorty 6mm CR barrel - it looks great, but p-mags do not work at all and I tried everything under the sun to get a metal mag to work. Eventually I did, but it will ONLY feed Hornady ELDM’s with the poly tip; everything else it slams and jams into the breech. I think it’s because of the low feed ramp from the 3-lug ruger bolt design. Any thoughts?
In my opinion outlier is gonna end up being the ar of the bolt gun world , being that someone who doesn't have a lot of money can just buy the chassis then when they get more money they can get the other peace's little by little and end up with a great rifle in the end for not a whole lot of money an nobody else is doing that
@Rubeless both that's one of the only companies that offer the option to buy a good Barrel and chassis system piece by piece at the prices they offer. Where even a poor man could have a great rifle system 4 very little money compared to the other options that's out there
Hello, never bought any parts to assemble before. If you buy all these parts seperately can you just screw them together or do you need to go to a gunsmith to assemble it for you? I don't have a gunsmith near me so I'd have to do everything myself. Either way thanks for the video. (FYI I gravitate to the -$500 side is budget since Cali inflates the price with taxes and fees)
Hey Brandon, my understanding was that factory 700 actions didn’t hold tight enough tolerance for a shouldered pre fit. Tough to see from the video but is there a barrel nut on yours? If so, do they ship you headspace gauges to use? Thanks, -J
I’m new to long range, looking at an ORYX chassis and HOWA 1500 action and barrel. If you could only pick one for long range shooting, would you build a 308 or a 6.5 creedmoor? Hoping to build this first quarter 2025. Thanks!
If you're staying inside of 600 or so yards, the drop for 175 gr. .308 and 140 gr. 6.5CM are fairly similar. Past that, 6.5CM eats .308's lunch. Either way, 6.5CM is going to buck the wind and make your shots easier as well as having lower recoil so you can spot your own splash for corrections. Costs for each round are comparable (use Ammoseek to compare) and both are usually readily available. .308 is still 100% viable, but if you're just starting out, 6.5CM makes far more sense than .308, especially past 600 or so yards.

@rugerdogg5316 one con I failed to mention is i got the stainless bull barrel with no flutes and it is stupidly heavy. Great for low recoil bench shooting, but you may want to go for the flutes version if you want some mobility.
Awesome Awesome Brandon!!!
I enjoyed this, thank you. 😊
Uncle looks like Brandon from Texas Plinking TH-cam channel 😂
This is some great content, but I need to know one more thing, does the stock tube match an AR?
BTW I watch all your suff.
Athlon make some really good affordable optics as well not to take any thunder away from Arken
Thought they were the same
Great video 📹 👍
Thanks fer sharing.
Fantastic idea for a build! I always see your shooters with a fluted bolt. Is a fluted bolt any benefit compared to a standard smooth bolt like my REM 700?
They cost more. I’ve heard some say the flutes have benefits, but they can’t prove it.
You are the benefit
Do you have a parts list?
Very nice! Thanks!
Thought this was the Christensen arms rifle for a sec
Thinking about getting the base chassis (basically $100) just to try as I have several actions just sitting here. I can make my own rail and stock and save a bunch.
The prices are very misleading as the options will add up in a hurry then the shipping is crazy high to boot. Sorry Outlier, the 25% off thing is like shopping at hobby lobby.
OUTSTANDING VIDEO THNX
I have a savage model 12 im thinking of doing this to
This is awesome! I'm looking to build a similar copy now that you shared this. If I have to purchase a new action and trigger, do you recommend the remington 700 or would you go with another?
Tikka
just bought my first box of 6.5prc dont even have the aero solus rifle for it yet damn california haha
@@TexasPlinking that makes sense too. was just so strange figured I'd ask.
Well, I know where I'm going for my next build.
I know your pinned comment has the basics but am curious if you would you happen to have a complete build sheet for that?
i would like to see someone with long distance skills shoot a gas gun for precision and really put it through its paces. maybe one day ill get my ar in 6 arc a good run for its money
Uhhh what lol, literally super popular…
No gas will beat a solid bolt action, but have fun trying by all means👍
@@user-dw4cv3xq5u yea was really sleepy before going to work when i posted that. gas semi automatic for long distance precision shooting. usually for things like prs they will use bolt action
It’s not that much different and it’s been proven even here in his 1000 yard challenge
Do a search on TH-cam, you’ll find it.
@@Rubeless guess i just need to take a long distance course. i want to have a gas gun that can go out to a mile no problem is what im trying to say. i want to see it happen lol
Now I need to go find a used R700
Who is stoked for the 1000yd vid on next week😆
First Monday of every month!
Probably a dumb question, but what brand are the glasses your wearing?
Is the threading for the stock the same as an AR?
Thanks for sharing! How much effort did it take to get it to feed? I got the chassis for a ruger American and a shorty 6mm CR barrel - it looks great, but p-mags do not work at all and I tried everything under the sun to get a metal mag to work. Eventually I did, but it will ONLY feed Hornady ELDM’s with the poly tip; everything else it slams and jams into the breech. I think it’s because of the low feed ramp from the 3-lug ruger bolt design. Any thoughts?
In my opinion outlier is gonna end up being the ar of the bolt gun world , being that someone who doesn't have a lot of money can just buy the chassis then when they get more money they can get the other peace's little by little and end up with a great rifle in the end for not a whole lot of money an nobody else is doing that
Do you mean it’s gonna be as popular as the AR?
Or for the guys that “build”
@Rubeless both that's one of the only companies that offer the option to buy a good Barrel and chassis system piece by piece at the prices they offer. Where even a poor man could have a great rifle system 4 very little money compared to the other options that's out there
What did the weight of that build come out to?
Thanks, -J
Why are the half MOA on the ground and not hanging on a pole like the 10" targets ?
I want a built rifle on a budget video. Not a chassis swap. Still a good video though
what is the bipod?
shorter handguard, less flex?
I'm curious about the barrel. Is it a barrel nut/remage setup? It sort of looks like there's a barrel nut, which is what's throwing me.
Yes, they are pre fit threaded shank with a barrel nut to set head space. .
I’m new to long range, looking at an ORYX chassis and HOWA 1500 action and barrel.
If you could only pick one for long range shooting, would you build a 308 or a 6.5 creedmoor?
Hoping to build this first quarter 2025.
Thanks!
It’s not that much different, regardless of what the caliber kooks say.
Look at what ammo cost and its availability.
Costs for each round are comparable (use Ammoseek to compare) and both are usually readily available. .308 is still 100% viable, but if you're just starting out, 6.5CM makes far more sense than .308, especially past 600 or so yards.
what acis mag did you use? on my Outlier chassis for Ruger american the mag well is very large and my MDT
ACIS mag just floats around a lot
It’s from AI themselves. Others seem to give me issues
Any opinions on the RPR custom with 6.5cm 24” barrel?

@ I have it for like 8 months now
