Farm bred domestic deer like that shown for sale on fenced game farms are not present in the wild deer. This is due to lack of gene manipulation in wild breeding and the fact hunters (apart from commercial recovery) have proved unable to prevent overpopulation destroying habitat and poor deer condition. These pests (& thar, & others) have been allowed to proliferate due to political pressure from those who need major overpopulation for success, and indifference from the Govt authority responsible for protecting ecological values on public land. Not only have hunters proved inept for controlling pests and actively obstructed pest control, together with safari operations (who protect these pests at excessive populations in self-interest) they have actively liberated new species in previously unpopulated areas. And consistently spread disinformation, youtube, TV & hunting publications are predominantly full of half-truths or less. Not helped by some pest management Govt staff and a small minority of scientists.
