    I worked nonstop for a while and now i can live off of growing investments in Thailand. The long term barrier is business/work visa. I could defer to teaching bjj/judo in a smaller province but im interested in developing new skills with the time while i study the language.
    Are you planning on making videos of what businesses other expats have started ?

    Had a great few years in Bangkok working in recruitment. However, it was the very high cost of high school education that brought us home.

      This is the most common reason friends of mine have left as well. The international schools are pricey!

    The weather in Canada is cool and the air is nice and clean. It’s better than Thailand, isn’t it? If I were you, I would live in Canada

    • @thebangkokguide
      @thebangkokguide  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I like the hot weather, but I definitely prefer the air quality in Canada. I think both countries are very nice! Cheers

      @@thebangkokguide If you had to choose between Thailand and Canada, would you choose to live in Thailand or Canada?

    Teaching experience gained in Thailand is worthless in other countries. They don't give a damn unless you have certificates to show. I have 15 years of teaching experience in total however because none of that was legal it means nothing. However I have the skills and could totally manage the hell of out of a class. I also speak a second language.

      Unfortunately this is true. I’ve met quite a few people who are in this situation, and the private schools here can be pretty ruthless when it comes to ageism as well. Can make for a tough career path.

    Hey, do you know if it’s difficult to find other European language teaching jobs in Thailand and how the salaries differ?

    • @thebangkokguide
      @thebangkokguide  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Salaries would normally be lower… but if your a properly qualified teacher there are language teachers at international schools, and there are also French and German international schools.

    • @thebangkokguide

      You can find jobs but it needs to be fairly specialized as it has to be a job that a Thai person can’t do.

    • @thebangkokguide
      @thebangkokguide  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I work at an international school… pay at almost every international school is over 100k. Top tier is closer to 160k. any international school paying 60k is a private school masquerading as an international school.

      There are definitely schools who offer that. I'm moving to Bangkok for a contract starting end of August and I'm being paid 80k a month with 10k housing allowance. Not yet at 100k but I think it's very possible in many schools (NIST, Patana, etc)
