- Little piece of automotive history rolled in today! A relic from the "datsun" era of vehicles! Cheap little trucks like that liked to WORK! Still a handfull of usable parts left on this old girl too!

Nice old truck. I love it. I wish I had that old truck.
Got the notification and thought: 1. NOOO! 2. There's one that has not completely rusted out?!? Well, it's close... These small pickups are still just the right size.
Its got the rot, but... its at that teetering point, either tear it down and fix it now, or part it out. Another year or two and shes too far gone to mess with.
Back in the day I bought a little 1980 Ford Courier for $380 I beat the shit out of that thing for years and it took everything I did to it and still ran! 😂🤣
@@MXguy95 those Japanese cars of that era were rotting from the dealer, cheep paint and undercoating plus lack of care makes it rusty.............hubcaps are off a 70's MOPAR DART or SWINGER 14 inch
@@deanplayer69metalplayer89 yep I had an 80' model. I paid $300 for it back in 1990. It was baby blue and long bed . I've had quite a few trucks since then but there was something special about that one. Wish I still had it.
I had a '74 Datsun 620 truck as my first vehicle. Very reliable and dependable.
Shawn Manzer Me too!
I liked the 521 series Datsun/Nissan truck to. They to were pretty decent looking decent running trucks to. Wish Datsun/Nissan would manufacture these little trucks once again, we need them.

Im buried up to my neck in projects and stress as it is. Just no time to add anything else to the fire .
@@MXguy95 I understand, i just got excited and commented before watching lol
Can I buy it?
Just sell it as is as a project truck to some one who wants save it and rebuilt it?
@@MXguy95

Complete!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those little trucks where little work horse back in the day they were like a Timex watch
that thing looks awesome, someone would probably want this as a project.
Guys who crush old cars are in the same league as defense attorneys. I hope that little Datsun made it out alive.
I love that truck. That's so cool. SAVE IT!!!! DO NOT CRUSH IT!!
I believe he is willing to sell it
It's a piece of junk Richard. 🙄🙄🙄 By the time it was restored it would be like at most 20% original. It's garbage.....parts only...
@@Anth230 I didn't say restore it. I said don't crush it.
@@Anth230 Idiot.
I bought this like a year and a half ago
Had a 76 wagon many years ago...... still ran but the frame and floors were gone. Thank you for the vid !
You're showing your age 😆
My uncle had one of these in the 80s. Ran forever!
Might be too far gone but minitruckers would love this! Jay, bodylines you talk about are the reason they have the nickname "Bulletside".
Love the old datsuns. That truck looks very salvageable, I just rescued a 76 280z from a salvage yard back in November.
A friend of mine in high school in the early 80s had one identical to this. Good little trucks that you don't see much anymore.
Very cool 👍 I had a 75 Datsun pickup back in the 80s. Ran like a sewing machine & got awesome fuel mileage.
Those are Plymouth/Dodge hubcaps. 70's Dart, Duster and Valiant. Cool vid. Dad had a 75 smurf blue.
They didnt seem fitting for the truck, I assumed it would have had a datsun crest or something on them.
Spennyman10 yep. Our 75 Valiant had those hubcaps
Came here to say this. Mom had those on her '75 Duster, and a neighbor had them on a similar vintage Dart.
My '74 Duster had those
Yes. They probably are but they are also the correct ones for this Datsun 620. They came with these
I love those old Datsuns. My brother Ed paid $50 for a yellow one that lasted until about 300K miles with zero trouble.
WOW !!!! 😀
that must've been a bargain of life
Nissan was cool when they were datsun. Nowadays buying a new Nissan is just buying a big can of worms...
@@1598hi The best Nissan cars are produced until 2002.
Those Datsuns fully restored fetch up to $50.000 here in Australia and what is incredible is that yours still has the original hub caps which are like gold 🙋♂️🇦🇺
Fully restored !?
Here they'd go for 100.000 in worse condition lol
Supposed to be in class right now but I'm chilling in the bathroom watching videos lol. Cool little truck, wish I could afford it, it needs to be saved
Omg. That is a rarity nowadays
Needs saving, or at least a "will it run"
They don’t even
Dude everything below the belt is gone it would be to much work to save it
chabka34 you don’t see any of these things anymore it definitely should be saved
@Matthew Barrick your a belt
Nope. it's junk..
I would have to see underneath but that’s almost a complete survivor. Datsun’s were great.
Save it, these pickups, are worth saving.
Bro I’d save the whole truck. A Datsun is a Datsun.
These datsun face is agressive and i like it
Cool little truck
I’ve got a 73 datsun 620 same color. Amazing little thing
Man that brings back memories!!!! My dad owned one of them!
The mini truck crowd like these old Datz would not be surprised if someone bought it complete.
Please save it I'm 17 and I've never seen a truck like this before didnt know they existed but its cool looking. Someone could sander down and put some new floors in it and it would he a decent truck
Very historic.
Super rare little pick up, anywhere in the world.
I had one of those in the seventies and it was a great truck for 200,000 then with it running great I traded it off because in those days from learning from the big three I thought it was wore out. I saw it around town for the next five years.
200k was quite a millstone! Even from the big three back then. Not saying it was impossible, but getting wore out for sure. Now, its a cake walk. Shame to see these little things disappearing But, you cant stop time.
@@MXguy95 I had learned from the big three that at a hundred thousand you better look for another one. The Datsun just kept going and going and I at last thought it is going to crater at the worst time so I traded it in. I have a Nissan car and truck. the truck is nineteen years old and just over a hundred thousand and plan to keep it until it rots which will be a long time in Texas. The car is a twenty twelve and just now has fifty thousand so will keep it a while also.
When I worked on the Eastern Test Range we used these for work trucks on the down range sites Grand Turk, Antigua, Ascension and GBI. They where Right Hand Drives they where a blast to bomb around in I had one that I drove everyday all day loved the thing, bought it at DRMO auction when they switched to Toyota's in like 87 or so.
What a cool little truck! Wish parts were readily available it would be a fun daily. Hopefully you get time to try to start it. Might sell complete to someone that way.
I can imagine it would be difficult finding stuff, It was like pulling teeth to find parts for the Datsun 210 we had
Somebody needs to save this poor thing. Hope all is well with the renovation at the new house.
That thing is at the critical point of saving a car imo. It’s just bad enough to be parted out, but just good enough to be a candidate to restore. Even as rusty as it is, it deserves to be saved
I love these old truck see remind me of when I was a kid when I would play SOCOM Navy Seals
I drove one of these in my younger years. Yes I did. 1978.
My late cousin had a 76 just like this. It was so rusty it was actually breaking in half as it was towed to the junkyard. 😬😲
WOW !!!!!
OMG REALLY FRRFR?
SC stopped requiring inspections in '95 so it may have been on the road since then
GIVE IT SOME LOVE DONT LET IT ROTT!!!!
That truck is almost as old as I am. Truthfully, it would be worth it to fully restore it.
I have a 78 Datsun pickup king cab 620. Seeing this one on the verge of being crushed is really sad to see. This was my first ever vehicle, so they have a special place in my heart lol. Not to mention they're very rare. I really hope you save it or someone picks it up.
Cody Stewart that’s so cool! I keep hearing cool stories in the comments about these! Crazy to think how popular they once were . Hopefully someone takes this thing home
Dip the whole truck in Evapo-Rust. It’ll buy her some time.
Thanks for braving the conditions Jay!
Datsun parts are hard to find! Definitely worth saving. My cousins bf had one and could only get parts from a junkyard
Sweet old datsun
That be fun to turn it into a race or drag truck to race with. Throw a roll cage and a engine and trans in it or fix the crap that's in there and run it until it blows and turbo it . Make it a posi rear end and that would be a fast ass truck for sure . And it's already a 5speed so that's a plus . I really really love that grille and front end . Almost looks like a dodge charger or something when u get really close up and se ethe double headlights like that . I really hate see this crushed 🙄 . Saveee this or something
If someone wants the whole truck they could get it! But, if not its a part out for sure. Theres just enough meat left on the bone to go either direction here.
My parents gave me a '75 they bought new. I drove it to high school with chrome wheels, and fresh paint job from '94-'96. My dad ended up selling the super clean no rust Datsun P/U to our insurance agent. I would love to have it back. If ANYONE knows where a '75 is for sale PLEASE let me know by commenting. Thanks! OH by the way, I have seen it a couple of times driving around Portland Oregon over the years but haven't been able to turn around fast enough to catch up.
7:24 holy shit HI TIM!!!
Someone needs to save this! Great bones for a restoration.
Richard Kafka hopefully someone will!
Wow. My parents had a 78. It's what I learned to drive first. 2wd with a 4 on the floor.
Gotta love that you made the awoo sticker look all worn to fit with the truck
I sat here in my office staring at that bright red square, scratching my head trying to figure out how i was going to sneak that in there... Took me a minute.. but I'm pleased.
That truck up north would be a swap candidate, nobody in their right mind here would let a shell like that not entirely rotted out go to scrap lol
This was my first car when i turned 16! hard to believe that was 36 years ago! lol!
My first was a '75 when I turned 16 26 years ago!
Thats something you dont see everyday a datsun pick up sad to see that it has seen its better days
I bet it was so sharp back in its hayday! However... it appears her days are finally numbered.
@@MXguy95Unless someone takes the time to restore it. It would be a great little truck to own for basic transportation and hauling things you need to fix up your house with.
1995-1976 is 19 years. Love the patina on the truck
Harris Pepper 1995 to the present day buddy....
Nice truck!!!
With steel prices so low, what do you guys let a truck like this go for?
My dad had a 72 it was a great little truck
That had to be a 521 series Datsun/Nissan truck. Those 521 series Datsun/Nissan trucks were beautiful looking little trucks to and very dependable to.
This looks to good to part out some one must like to restore it
Hope somebody saved it. Beautiful looking truck, wish they would still make them today.
These things are so rare and expensive here in Australia. Hopefully someone saved this
I had a 74' Plymouth valiant with the same hubcaps. I believe that's what's on there. I think That should have a L16 engine. They run forever
Good find! I can testify that there should be hope for that one or at least many parts from it. I parted out a 73 4spd reg bed standard cab L16 (1.6 liter)eng. When I bought it, the body cab floor was soo rusty that the steering column did more to keep it on the frame than the mounts! Was that freaky to whip around corners with out in the back of the farm! LoL. Had to rest my feet on the frame because the foot petals were suspended in mid air! The bed floor was gone too. Engine trans and frame and rear axel all amaizing and funtional. So I parted it saving anything that was ok. I still have most of it minus cab shell and hood +fenders+ doors. But I did sell the frame.. Doesn't seem possible how the frame was solid from over rear diff to the front bumper (only the tail end past the diff was rusty). Mine had a partial front bumper still remaining. I got a good dash and instrument assembly.. to btw -Hehe.
How long to get there from Ontario, Canada... and can I drive it home??????? LOL What a beauty. Love the line starting from half way through the door to the bed. Always loved those trucks.
Strap you a fuel cell in the bed and some lights to the front, a few used tires and hit the road running!
@@MXguy95 - I'm in buddy! hahaha... Wish I wasn't kidding. You just don't see those up here with the salt and crap. Same with the old Toyota trucks. I may fly to California and buy one and drive it back. That would be fun.
I drive an '84 720 daily. The older trucks looked better but needed a later drivetrain. There are really not many of the 620s left as far as I can tell.
My first vehicle was a 79 datsun king cab 5 speed. Bought it from my step dad for 1 buck. Had 4 bald bias tires and a Frankenstein rear bumper. Miss vn it
she is a beauty! Oh well... she was a beauty! RIP :(
Shes not finished yet, but the clock is ticking
My grandpa had a 1972 same color and everything, we still have it but it hasnt run since 2011 hasnt moved under its own power since 98 and engine needs a rebuild. 3 speed + R transmission, single bench seat, AM radio, seatbelts etc. It has surface rust but nothing too bad.
Time to take it to Pick-N-Save
@@FuckSlowShit Not a bad idea, but we dont have any of those near here. Once older I wanna get it running again as a fun little truck to remind me of grandpa.
Datsun.... Dats right... When I was in High School all the cool kids were driving mini trucks, Datsun and Toyota back in ancient times. Datsun was still using that body in the late 70's and Toyota was still running the earlier dual headlight trucks and was just bringing out the new 2 headlight body and about to release the 4x4. I remember seeing the first 79 red 4x4 truck and it seemed like a beast for it's size, very well made and heavy duty for what it was. The Datsun /Nissan version just wasn't as well made or designed back then. They both were cool cheap little trucks in the day that got good mpg and were reliable.
I would die if I saw a wasp nest that huge in person 😱😳
Super’ Duper rare WOW! Wee’ neato! last time my eyes saw one was in the late 80’s
Those are fairly scarce now, I don't think I'd be in any hurry to scrap it.
At the least I'd make a trailer out of the bed -
Ah man I havent seen a good truck bed trailer in years! That would be sweet !
Like those old Datsuns
Same !
@@MXguy95 I need a datsun 100a
What a cool old truck! My neighbor had one. When he stopped driving it, it just sat in his front yard for years. Thats when you just didn't see foreign vehicles that much. Are those 70's Plymouth Duster hub caps?
Old Car Alley love hearing stories about these! And I’m not really sure, but everyone has said It’s a mopar hubcap for sure!
@@MXguy95 Yea, like 73, 74 Duster caps. I hope someone saves it. They all rotted out, and are long gone. It so cool to see one survived.
i wish you guys were closer, id buy that so fast
Ahh come on pup, its never too far for the right project!!
1995 was the last year SC did inspections. So it probably hasn't been off the road that long. Although it's been awhile. That one is rough.
Save it ,these are pretty trucks
Love the patina
Shame to see any vehicle especially one now so rare get to that state! It would be nice to see it go in one piece to someone who would restore it.
I'd still find a way to save this little girl. It's a nice looking truck.
They make good drag trucks
Jay please please please do not part this out!
Either hide it in the back of the lot until you get some time to save her, or sell it but only sell it complete as I’m sure there are quite a few people that would love this little time capsule
And Ps, I’m not 100% sure but the hubcaps look very similar to the ones my sister had years ago on a late 70s Plymouth Valore
Hmm... Ill see if I can make some room in the back forty.
Jay Smart I would. What’s the likelihood of ever finding another one of these. I know if I were in your position and sold it I would always wish I had kept it
No start up?🤣 I’ve had several of those lil trucks back in the day. Solid trucks, I hadn’t seen one that complete in years
Someone please buy and restore that beauty Too nice to be parted out
I wouldnt want to part it out, but.. If it comes to that, atleast it would save other trucks !
Cool Truck
Looks like 1975 Plymouth Valiant wheel covers.
Or Duster.
Well who cares? I love the way those look on the truck. If I had it and you needed those hub caps, I’d give them to you
Love the vids
thanks buddy!
She’s a saver
Hi the front hub caps came from a seventy Mopar (Duster Valiant) I REALLY ENJOY YOUR VIDEO'S Richard
Cool 😀 Hubcap's are neat, too.
Now that would make a sweet drift truck.. Short bed.
Miss the datsun day's
This make me sad. My first vehicle was a 1974 Datsun pickup.
Hits you right in the feels ...
My first was a white 80 SR5 Toyota pickup large T hood strips L side strips The 1980 issues of National Geographic Magazine showed my truck on it in the ads.
@@MXguy95 Yeah it does.
@@jasonjohnson9810 I don't want it. I still have my '74 plus other projects.
I want one of them trucks.
You have awoken the kingdom of wasps man!!! Get outta there man!!!
No kidding! Atleast its not summer or they would really be active
*NOPE! not the original hub caps . Those are old school Dodge Duster or Volare hub caps. In the truck box are the original gauges for this truck too. the ones with the pointed lenses*
That would be a fun resto mod project. Put an rb25 in it...
Save her
Damn that's cool.
