Unfortunately today is the time to give a new name to one of the Nurburgring's corners, Sabine Schmitz curve.

I believe they chose that corner partially because turn 1 didn’t have an official name. Hatzenbach is the first corner she mentions and it’s the next one after Sabine Schmitz Kurve
only Sabine answers "a new lap record" in a Nürburgring discussion with "Oh, cool, another one!"

You probably find that her name or nickname is on the track somewhere or god forbid one day when she passes Sabine will be remembered by having her name spray painted in a tribute on the track somewhere

Well even I can visualize the whole track just from sim racing, so of course she can she's been there for thousands of times.

Yes she was a legend and will be missed by many.
I don’t think she would want any corners renamed after herself, she grew up there and had a real love for the place.
My personal opinion is, something else associated with the track, something that is not already a part of history would be more fitting, these corners are all name for good reasons already (except the stupid ‘TH-cam corner’, not it’s real name). And most likely more appreciated by Sabine and her family and friends.
I don’t mean this to sound degrading to her memory, but maybe the car park area, where so many people meet and make new friends and took taxi laps with Sabine, or the pit area where all the lap records now start and finish. Hell, even a stand on the GP circuit, she did enough race laps that included that part of the circuit.
One of my dreams was to experience a taxi lap in the BMW M5 with Sabine, sadly I never got the opportunity.
RIP Sabine, you will be missed by many and gave great memories to those you left behind.
i guess she would not want to have the original corner names replaced by hers - that would not be Sabine. I would love the idea of a nice piece of newly planted , donated and preserved forest close to the track ( maybe next to her favorite part of the track ) - maybe in combination with a road close by also named after her to have something official lasting with a dual purpose .. we could honor the place with a nice statue or a lovely stone plate and keep it clean and help it grow over time so it could one day match her smile and her absolute love for the place .
Well yesterday, turn 1 or T1 of the nordschelife was named Sabine Schmitz Kure after her. This will be of legalized this September

Being cocky and not looking like a self absorbed idiot is hard but Sabine made it work for her.
She humbled Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear (hilarious and legendary), and he came back to a show that fired him to eulogize her.
That's real respect and she freaking earned it. They don't need to name a corner for her she owned that whole goddamn track.

Same car the Stig would have no chance. Not even Hamilton would have one. You need hundreds of laps to learn it properly. They even have extra courses for Pro-Drivers before the 24 H Races. Its a kind of needed extra approval. That`s for a reason.

Sabine knew the Nurburgring inside out and was super fast. A legendary smiling racing driver that has been lost but will never be forgotten.

Probably the coolest woman ever to be in motorsports. We all car enthusiasts have secretly had a crush on her or wished we had a girlfriend who could drive like that and love cars as much. Anton Marinski most of the names don't make sense. After all those are just names and aren't very meaningful.

what? they are perfectly sensible. hohe acht for example is a mountain there. bergwerk means mine. there used to be one. flugplatz means airfield. it is, where you used to be airbone with the car. i could go on, an explain every one of those. just because one does not know, what it means, does not mean, that the names are not senseless.

Sci4n he's my favourite too, way before he was in TG. Skilled driver. Matt is ok, he can drive as well and a bit funny they both get along, but I just don't understand Rory's role. Sabine is fantastic driver and entertaining at least. That's just my opinion.
