    Everything worked as you described but after specifying the correct port the telescope was still unable to be found. I decided to try every 5 pin mini b cable I had lying around before trying anything else. The fourth one did the trick. Anyone following this guide who still has trouble by the end, try another cable. I remember having those issues way back when the 5 pin mini connection was cutting edge. Thank you for the fix, from the USA in July 2023.

    Thanks for this video. This literally should NOT be this difficult. Celestron certainly F'd up this process. This should have been an easy plug and update..boom, done! Without this video, I wouldn't have a clue how to do this.

      Happy to help out. It’s strange how the video is still relevant. I agree you would think that celestron would have done it fully executable without secondary software and having to change settings by know.

      I know right? Seriously I am struggling even after this video getting my telescope to update. I’m actually quite ashamed of myself because of that. I have been building my own PCs for about 20 years, which really has nothing to do with learning the operating system, but at the same time it does make you feel ashamed of yourself to have this kind of trouble getting something as simple as a firmware manager to work with a $3000 telescope. I don’t think the programmers at Celestron understand their customers. I am shocked that they have not squared away the CFM, and made it more user-friendly. They really dropped the ball on this.

      @@roughdragon4013 yeah if it wasn’t for your video, a lot of us would be SOL! Especially those of us who keep buying their peripherals
      ! What I love about my brothers from across the pond you guys always do such a thorough job of explaining things , without any of the ego that you’re find in the videos on the same subject from your US counterparts.
      That’s why I always try to find how to videos on complex subjects like this one from people like you.
      There is truly nothing worse than watching a video on a very aggravating subject like the CFM manager, and having some punk kid talking down to you making you feel inferior. You certainly don’t do that, and for that you have my respect and I’m sure a lot of people that have watched your video feel the same way.
      You never make us feel stupid and I appreciate that my friend.

    You might spot from my pic I'm wearing HD25,s industry standard headphones for Television / Film Location Sound recording as I've been in the TV industry for over 25 yrs.... and Yup your V/O audio sucks and sounds as if you used a pillow for a microphone. However your knowledge of getting Java to work is exceptional with this dinosaur piece of software from Celestron and I am super grateful, as I can't seem to detect my fancy new Starsense Camera on it's local network and unfortunately my last hope is a firmware update. Wish me luck , another wish is I Wish I had never gone down the proprietary Celestron rabbit hole. Cheers Kris

      Good afternoon from Madrid, Spain. Two weeks ago in a public astronomical observation the mount failed me with the error you mention. Then at home it has never appeared to me in this time. Has it been fixed after updating? I am trying to update but the computer does not recognize the type of USB device, I don't know what to do anymore. Thank you

      @roughdragon4013  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@los.barneys.oficial try these
      Use a different USB port sometime will not work on usb3
      Turn your scope on 2 minuets before attaching to a computer
      Check the com port number in CFM and the device manager
      Do a Siam command prompt as administrator and type in as below
      sfc/scannow
      This will check windows integrity and fix any corrupted files ( restart the computer once done.

      I know on windows if you click the tab that displays the file it will show them in ascending or descending order.
      Failing that do a file search,

      Update on windows is that it’s the javacpl exe only that need admin rights for it to work. Unsure if it’s the same on Mac. Hope this helps

    if you have CFM saved in some weird folder named like "!! Astro !!" like me.. it does not like this folder name.. no special characters like exclamation marks in the folder name..

    For me the problem started where your video ends, namely when I clicked on the update button below. The warning message “nexstar+ did not update successfully” was displayed. At some point I remembered that I had blocked internet access for the computer on the telescope. However, the installer didn't point this out to me. It made me think that he had downloaded some files for the update, but that couldn't be the case. After I enabled internet access, the step of downloading the updates took significantly longer than before. 😁 Afterwards, the installation program at least updated the hand controller during the update process, but failed when updating the motor controller. I then had to do the update a second time and selected that it was an Alt-Az mount. Afterwards, many more files were downloaded and installed and only then did the motor-controllers work.
    This is terrible software.

    • @roughdragon4013
      @roughdragon4013  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I agree the software should basically be install and work it’s about time it was sorted

    • @kataiwannhn
      @kataiwannhn วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@roughdragon4013 I would be happy if the software at least didn't give false facts during runtime or is it targeted at Millennials? 😁
      But of course there is also a lot of room for improvement in terms of usability, considering that it is a consumer product. The thing about the separately required Java installation, for example, bothers me the least.

      sorry for some reason your enquirery has litteraly just come through. if you have solved it great if not try the conection on a diffrent usb port i belive usb3 can be an issue. still not working. check your system integraty it may be a corrupt system file open a windows CMD with administation right and type exactly as shown sfc/scannow let it get on with it. if its win 8, 8.1, 10, or 11 it will find and repair any file found.

    • @roughdragon4013

      i now this is a little late but try typing sfc/scannow in a cmd shell and see if your system integrity is ok.
