Yoga, Meditation: Bad Karma to Eat Meat? - Yogiraj Siddhanath

  • What is the proper diet for a practitioner of yoga and meditation? Yogiraj, with his characteristic penetrating wisdom and humor, corrects common misconceptions about the nature of food how diet affects our lives and our karma.
    ***
    Yogiraj is considered an illumined living master and solar seer, and helps sincere practitioners of yogic meditation awaken to higher levels of consciousness through chakra awakening/activation and esoteric practices of Himalayan yoga.
    Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath was born on May 10, 1944 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India. He has been meditating since the age of 3, and spent his early years in the Himalayas amongst the HamsaNath yogis, in whose presence he was transformed. The divine transformation flowered after his deep and personal experiences in 1961 and 1967 with the yogi-christ Mahavatar Shiv-Goraksha-Babaji, the same spiritual master described in Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi. He has a wife of 30+ years, Gurumata Shivangani, with whom he built by hand the Hamsa Yoga Sangh Ashram (Spiritual Retreat) outside the city of Pune, near Bombay, India. They have two sons, and two grandchildren.
    Yogiraj teaches yogic meditation for the evolution of human consciousness. These perennial practices of yoga are the most ancient closely guarded sacred practices of the Himalayan yogis and masters from time immemorial. They help the practitioner gradually transform him/herself into the likeness of his/her own divinity.
    This ancient art and science has been a way of life for rare yogis and ascetics of India and abroad who have sacrificed everything in the search for their own inner Truth, their inner Godessence. Today, Yogiraj demonstrates in his own life and livingness, that powerful spiritual practice can be integrated with family life and a career. By the blessings of Babaji, Yogiraj teaches these techniques, which he collectively calls "The Alchemy of Total Transformation" to sincere seekers throughout the world, who wish to integrate these practices into their daily life, without the necessity of giving up worldly pursuits.
    These techniques are called:
    1. Mahavatar Babaji's Kriya Yoga (N.B., the exact same kundalini kriya originally given to Lahiri Mahasaya in the 19th century)
    2. Siddhanath Surya Yoga - A dynamic osmosis of solar healing. Pranic healing with solar power.
    3. Siddhanath Hamsa Yoga - The Way of the White Swan.

    Love his sense of humor!
    I've met some extremely judgmental vegans in the yoga community. If they want to follow that path, that's fine, more power to them, but when they tell me that I can't follow a spiritual path if I'm not a strict vegan, I am not buying it!
    Ironically enough, they drive people away from yoga when they say that to practice yoga, you have to be a strict vegan, so that's contradicting ahimsa, isn't it?!

    all food we eat, we should have a respect for it. respect is not given by 'stores', however farmers markets and growing/raising yourself is the way I believe respects the plants/animals. is it more cruel to die a quick painless death by the hands of a conscious farmer than to be hunted and eaten alive by another animal in the wild?

    This is random but i can only pray for the essence u felt that day in the moutains. I personally believe my path is like a aimless path of light. But the way my mind and ego is set up i can't get past the self for realization if that makes sense. :/

    • @j00f
      @j00f 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is only a belief you're holding and it's not true. You don't need to "get past the self", you only need to see it for what it is (an illusion). Don't try to think your way through this, thinking won't solve it. Take a moment to calm down and just observe. In the field of experience, where is that which cannot get past the self for realization? Take your time..

      Yosef Leon
      Hey Yosef, I am on the same boat as you. If anything, I believe it helps you rise higher in your spiritual practice, as good fitness levels and strength conditions your bottom chakras and keeps them flowing better, allowing you to easily transcend them and reach to higher states. A weak and unhealthy system drains your energy, over a healthy and fit body that stores even more of it. I would recommend you look into the YOGADA book by Yogananda, if at all. Hope this helps

    • @surajdatla
      @surajdatla 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yosef Leon Then, there are people like Arnold who experience 'getting pumped' as orgasmic, quite frankly raising their kundalini's in the process of lifting and exerting their willpower. Obviously stay away from steroids and chemical supplements that drain your brain and body's resources.

      Don't worry so much about dieting and celibacy. Celibacy does not work until the spiritual aspirant is Brahmacharya. Until then, the sexual energy will be expressed outwardly, This is a natural phenomenon and there should be no puritanical judgement regarding this. Seek the "middle way" as the Buddha admonished us to do. Stay way from extremes. ॐ

    ...and do not study the healthiest and longest-living people of the world, nor the people with the most remarkable recoveries from all of the modern medical developments from autism to yeast infections to dental crowding. People refer to meat when what they mean is cooked, mass-produced meat. I agree that such meat is among the least attractive of foods, but the relevant issue is which foods are most nourishing, most appropriate for the human digestive tract, etc

    Instead of a passive protest, do something about the situation. If we all declined to buy milk, the shop owners or companies would have to throw it away. And the sacrifice of the poor animals would go to a waste.

    What if you breed the cow before you slaughter it? This is no different than an apple seed, only a different means to the same end. If it is your choice or that is how you feel, stick with it...my Guides told me to "lighten up" my diet. Don't stress about it. Whatever meat you choose to eat, make sure it is organic. Yogananda said to try and avoid pork and beef; eating those only once per month. Fish and fowl are probably better choices if you need protein or crave some meat. If its beef that you are craving, the craving might be a need for iron. But many vegetables are high in iron. So don't guilt yourself about wanting to have some meat occasionally. Moderation; the "middle way" in all things ॐ

    So has your ways stopped cows suffering? Nope. Because there will always be people to drink cows milk or eat meat.
    The better approach is to enforce strict laws on HOW humans should keep any animal - that is the way to ensure 100% removal of bad farming practices, and in turn, prevent suffering for these beautiful animals.
    Anyway - does anyone know how to request Hamsayogi to come to the UK again? I missed the New York one, and I have never been - and i really need to go.

  • @amanogawamakoto
    @amanogawamakoto 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You cannot do anything about milk being sold in shops. It is better to buy it, mentally connect with the spirit of the animal and express your thanks or apology before consuming it. The same applies to meat.
