Radiant Pure Vessel (Old Nail Only and No Charms)

- Defeating the Pure Vessel on Radiant difficulty with just the old nail in the Hall of Gods for the Hollow Knight Godmaster DLC. No charms used besides Void Heart (for obvious plot reasons). I've really enjoyed the Pure Vessel boss fight though it seems there isn't much else to do with it. I'm pretty sure the time could be improved if things were cleaned up with the pogoing though given how fast paced the fight is it is very easy to make a mistake as the fight wears on.

I feel like this boss fight is a lot like NKG with keeping up with the rhythm and knowing how to dodge and when you can attack
Agreed, it's a fast-paced fight with attacks that are (somewhat) predictable and fun to keep up with the attacks. Very much like NKG. It's probably why I like this fight a lot.

I said that there were folks much better than me but I could complete hard stuff if I put in the time and practiced. I did die a lot. Especially several P3 deaths from losing focus after 10 minutes of dodging.
I think pure vessel's blades are abit longer dont you think guys?

I have a question, how do you get to the old nail? I thought you already had the pure nail. Can you somehow go back or is it a different file?
I have a separate old nail file I used to clear most of the pantheons with. I stopped at Sisters of Battle and just used spell charms to get through everything. That way I could do old nail challenges. I am unsure whether I really want to do all of P5 with the old nail to unlock Absolute Radiance though.

Thanks! Pure Vessel feels a lot like NKG (although faster and easier to mess up his patterns). But he's much more enjoyable to do boss challenges with than Absolute Radiance.

Do you ever see yourself revisiting this kill with updated strategies / aggression? I'd be interested in seeing if you could get a faster time than me, considering you're the one who inspired me to do this kill in the first place.
Congrats on beating him old nail only! I don't think I'd revisit myself as I'm usually not focused on speedy kills. But your eight minute kill is impressive!

Team Cherry made another Zote boss and mentioned Tiso in Pantheon 5, so why can't we get Absolute Primal Aspid King Grimm?
Or have NKG spawn some of those flame carrying adds during the fight!
CrankyTemplar the flame spawner attack spawns primal aspids that do 4x damage, and the aspid globules spawn aspid hatchlings(the small ones that the aspid mothers spawn). The flame pillars also shoot out aspid globules. Finally, during the bullet hell phase, globules rain from the celing.
Sounds like an absolute nightmare. Which is really fitting the theme.

Might as well make the fire bats attacks spawn Aspids once they reach the end of the screen

The pogo on him when he does his down strike is really nice. It's the easiest way to avoid that attack and get some damage in at the same time. I felt like a boss when I discovered it myself.
Pogoing is amazing for Pure Vessel. Once you get used to it the fight becomes much easier and more fun.
I was lame and used the sharp shadow charm. I'm happy with beating the fourth pantheon.

flukemarm is easy
Flukemarm with just the old nail is just about impossible due to not being able to keep up with the spawns, or just barely being able to.
I tried a few times but didn't really think I could pull it off.
CrankyTemplar I'm sure you can do it somehow! That's your ultimate challenge~

In a comedy, this is where I would hesitantly agree before jumping through a window and speeding off in a car.
I personally doubt I would try Flukemarm again old nail only and no charms, but I did say I would never do Pure Vessel old nail only when I beat him with the old nail (but using spells too). But I think I would probably try Absolute Radiance first.
How about pure vessel fight without nail?
Only spell for dmg. Get souls by using soul generating charms.(Edit: haven't played game couple months due to computer issue and forgot that dream nailing void creatures does not give souls)
I think this will be hard since you can not deflect or bounce with nails and you get very slow and limited amount of souls.

Thanks! From my understanding Pure Vessel is immune to the dream nail like the Hollow Knight so it seems Kingsoul would be the only viable option (you could also use Weaversong and Grubsong but that seems to undermine the challenge). Depending on what spells are used (and whether you use Shaman Stone/Spell Twister) it could take a few minutes up to 15ish minutes. I might give it a try in the future since I have a Kingsoul file in Godhome. I don't think the dodging would be too bad as you substitute double jumping for pogoing. You're likely to have PV leap more which might be a problem.
