    Definitely worth the time and cost of parts to repair. I'm always for returning equipment to working order rather than replace when possible. Thanks for your videos. I have a couple of small engines that have fuel delivery problems and I am confident I can repair them after watching your videos.

    Of course is worth fixing, you’ve done two great things. In this disposable society you took pride in fixing it up your self , always learning something new and you kept it away from the landfill reducing waste , helping the environment at the same time. It is a WIN,WIN situation.,👍👌🏽

      It's a good way to make money on the side too. I do it all the time. I pick up equipment from the trash/ dump for free.. Usually doesn't cost me more than $5 and an hour of my time to get an engine running. Then I flip them for $40-$50.

    @ Home Garage I have 3 of these exact blowers and 4 Craftsman about same style and age. I really like the older vs the new. On the topic of compression here- So pretty much for two stoke engines ( leaf blowers, trimmers ) the PSI less then 100 is no good? What are some key known things that cause a engine to have a loss of compression say improper ratio of gas to oil mix, engine running hot as hell can cook a egg on it? Lastly one I was curious about... Say a trimmer or blower when you pull cord and the pull is sloppy. Meaning no kick back or pull from engine. Just a full steady sloppy feel and that would be a red flag of inside engine trouble and compression likely scored, ring stuck etc correct? I got a Murray MS2550 right now someone gave me ( who knows the history of owner ). Won't start and ran fine last year. Has spark, carb inside is clean, lines and filters check out. What caught my eye off the bat is when pulling rope there is no tention at all. Now the rope moves the engine and all that. Just feels like zero pull back. Oh, I myself run Stihl straight shaft trimmer I own. 90oct no eth gas. No issues at my house. Now every year my Neighbours won't listen. Park all and come spring the whole side I watch as they try to start mowers and trimmers etc. HA ha let the cheap gas sit in it all winter didn't you lol.

    • @HomeGaragechannel
      @HomeGaragechannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will still run with less than 100 psi but if it was less than 80, then it might start one day and not start the next. Yes if there isn't enough oil in the gas then the rings will be destroyed sooner than normal. Also if the engine is running hot then the rings will also wear too fast. Yes, a healthy engine will "Kick back" a bit when you do a steady pull I'm the rope.

    Question when working on the valve are can you used a wire brush on a bench grinder or drill to clean the parts further or would that cause problems? Also for amount of time that really depends on what your time is worth. $15 a hour or $50 a hour, If you get $100 or more I pass on doing all that work. You should make up starter small engine packages and sell them. Just with the most needed tools and common parts. Or are you already doing so on amazon? I have watched your vids for days. I have learned a lot

    • @HomeGaragechannel
      @HomeGaragechannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thank you skater man. What valves are we talking about again, 4 stroke valves? I have considered making kits , I think it would be helpful.

    • @skaterman3847
      @skaterman3847 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HomeGaragechannel On this blower wasnt the valve area filled with gunk? and you used a can or two of Carb Cleaner and a wire brush to clean up? I also thought of Dry Ice Blasting those parts to get clean. I also notice you work on a lot of items that can use a cleaning. That gets my OCD in a up roar. I would have to power was most of that stuff and detail it some.

    • @skaterman3847
      @skaterman3847 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Plus I am impressed by your skills and how you explain everything, The one thing I was wondering is about the metering diaphragms are there just like a few different ones to fit 99% of the carbs that are pretty standard or do you have tons of ones you have to have on hand. You work on so many brands and carb designs but some parts like the primer bulb and fuel lines are pretty standard and only have a couple different ones, it would be nice that if the metering diaphragms wew the same

    • @HomeGaragechannel
      @HomeGaragechannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the area that was filled with gunk was the lower part of the engine, where the crank and connected rod is, there are no valves on this engine. That's why I had to ask about what valves. Yes I sometimes clean them, sometimes not.

    • @HomeGaragechannel

    I ALWAYS spend something on everything and I count gas for running as far as cleaning, brake clean/ether, oil/Kroil and even wear and tear on running and getting stuff if I have to and that would be included on top of the price of a new blower. Time is money and we can say we're worth 'X' amount per hour. Tool purchases are included in this so it gets right interesting. As far as me, I'm better off to try and fix something and the FINAL price will always be less and the quality better than a new one. Remember, all you have to do is pull the rope one time and you'll have to consider it USED. ALL my stuff is passed WELL used but it runs, and runs good for who owns it. ME! Thanks and Blessings!
