I have this same holster, and in February of 2019, I will have carried it with my m&p shield every day for 1 year. Being my first concealed carry holster, it took some getting used to, but now 10 months later, i sometimes forget that i have it on. Nothing has broken yet and everything still works great. I'd recommend this holster and would buy it again if i ever lost it.

I just got one for my M&P 2.0 full size. It is amazing that with this holster you can just about conceal a full size with a t-shirt, but with any over shirt/jacket you are 100% concealed.
Very good and a long wear review. One added note, I EDC both the G19 and G26 Gen 4s and the G19 shell works with NO problems or even having to adjust the retention between the two carries. I holster and draw alot, no wear on either platform and it is a smooth draw. Not just a holster, but a System. I have the 3.0 and the 4.0 is a great improvement. Great video, Thanks. 😆 Additionally, for those that may augment thier carry (light and/or laser) may have to look at the kydex sandwich drag it out holsters 😩.
I have had this holster system for a couple years now, and it is hands down my favorite holster and I have a drawer full of holsters! I recently had to switch to black arch iwb holster because I put holosun optic on my 43x. The black arch is a great holster, but I still prefer my alien gear for little reasons such as how easy it is to switch the belt clips, the retention and just overall comfort. Someday Alien gear will make a shell for my 43x with optic and my black arch will go back in the drawer.

FameeGFX - The Shield and Compact are completely different in size and shape. The Shield uses a “single” stack magazine, while the Full size and Compact pistols are “Double” stacked. Alien Gear(AG) offers a holster for the 3.5” barrel Compact, Dave has a 4” barrel Compact that is “”NOT”” available, yet. The AG 3.5 Clock Tuck is what Dave is carrying his 4” barrel in, I surmise. Honest mistake with the holster generation numbers 3.5 Cloak Tucks vs the 4.0 Shape Shifts, and the Barrel lengths being discussed 3.5” vs 4”. I’m a big fan of the AG line myself and eagerly await the release of several different holsters. My other pistols are jealous 😹💚👽
Nice review. There are mixed reviews on this holster. One being that it is too thick. I can see where this could be a problem, but I am thinking I will buy the core carry kit as a test to see what I like. Again, nice duration of testing.
If you pause at 3:58 you can tell that about a half inch of the material has become thread bear with some of the cording underneath showing. If this is what we can expect after just one year of use, how will this have held up after two or three years? A holster should last longer than just a few years. but since there's a lifetime warranty with this holster, I'm assuming this would be covered.
Yeah, I even call it out in the video. I still wear that exact same holster and 2 years later (I wish I could just post a photo here,) and it has worn through more, but nothing has unraveled. Yes, I could have it replaced under warranty, but to me it isn’t an issue.
I wanted the holster for my s&w m&p 2.0 shield 9mm with integral crimson red trace laser . Contacted the company several times and they state they don’t have one yet . As popular as this gun is and the increasing sales you would think they would get one in production. Patiently waiting still . I really want this . Now
I got the Core Carry Pack which includes that IWB, and a lot more. Love it. Going on 3 months with it now. I use it and also the OWB belt slide. Not the big bulky one that sticks out, but there is a slide that screws directly to the shell. Much closer to body. Easier to conceal. I use it mostly at range, and occasionally as EDC. I use the thumb release instead of the retention piece as on the IWB. Since I have an extra shell, I don’t have to disassemble either one. Works great! Oh, I have M&P9 M2.0 4.25”
@@madrid9968 I bought one ShapeShift Core Carry Pack. Tried using the IWB holster on the tac course, your hip will remind you to not do it again. The thigh holster held up well, had to reduce the friction a bit for draw timing, never had it fall out. For everyday carry, the IWB is comfortable. The Backpack chest holster is questionable, protrudes a bit too far.
I got my Starter Kit a week ago and still trying all the different way's in the Kit I want to use it for carrying. So far I truly Do Like this system that Alien Gear has developed. In the Starter Kit it has a extra mount so I can mount it to what ever I want to mount my Holster to. Like in my truck or in the Bed room, or under a desk too, just pick a place and mount it and you ready. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❕❕ VERY COMFORTABLE T00.
I went with the 3.5 over the Incog for my cz75b because they had left draw holsters and Incog did not. This holster would not let me carry cocked and locked,Everytime I'd holster it ,the holster would switch off the safety! I borrowed a Dremel and buzzed that area off the holster. Now I can carry apendex safely. It is easy to adjust so that I can carry apendex my cz75b, imagine that!
I realize this is older now, but I just ordered the core pack for my G19x, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on carrying that with this system. Thanks!
I bought a 3.5 and have been happy with it. I have to check on the belt clip screws every few days but that's not a big deal. I've changed it's angle position on the body almost a dozen times now trying to find the perfect spot where I'm comfortable, doesn't print, and I can sit down without it catching on my chair or more importantly my pants when drawn. Definitely glad I bought it but it's a shame Alien Gear doesn't make a shapeshift for the Ruger SR1911 Commander. I did buy an OWB shapeshift for my Beretta 92 and will probably build a government 1911 some day.
Great review. I just wish they supported MY guns. The fact they don't IS frustrating, but doesn't mean it wasn't a well thought out, and complete review.

I have the pocket holster and the cloak tuck i prefer the pocket carry myself. I really like the cloak tuck though too. I just wish the shells were cheaper cause switching between them is kind of a pain
Bought a Glock 30sf 4.0 holster for my Glock 30s. After watching this video on how it holds the gun I have more confidence it will work. Gonna find out in a couple weeks when the holster arrives.
Holster looks good just not sure why so much material at the bottom? Should have just been cut straight across I have several 3.0. Once I set them up I haven’t changed them in years they show very little wear. I have so many that it would cost me a fortune to get these new ones!!! Maybe mine will wear out and I can warrant upgrade lol
I had the same issue with the belt clasps on my iwb. Wore thru two pair of dickies work pants. I’ve shifted to the appendix holster still wear at 4 o’clock position. Great setup.
I took a chance and ordered one for my Sig Sauer p320 X-Carry I hope it fits all they had a p320 compact size I think they are the about the same size from what I have seen on Utube just wanted to get your thoughts on this I really enjoy you and Bruce

I just purchased a .45 ACP but its 4.25 inches. Is that the same thing in size when it comes to guns? Meaning will I get that snug/click sound fit? Thanks :)

Looking to order this for my LC9. After so many years, have you had any issues with clips staying tight on your belt? My single piece kydex holster stretched and no longer stays tight on my belt, and fell off my belt onto the pew at church today. Luckily nobody saw it, but it has me nervous about any system that doesn't require threading the belt through the holster.
Very good review. I have a G19 and have replaced the factory sights with TruGlo sights that are slightly taller. Is there enough clearance for the sights in this holster for it to work with my setup? If not...could I safely alter (trim) the holster to make it work and not compromise the safety and use of the holster? Thanks!
I don’t know for sure, but call the team at Alien Gear, tell them you saw my review and they may be able to answer it. Worst case you can order it and you have a 30-Day test drive to see if it works or return for a full refund.
Question, (Yes i know how old the video is) I have a 1911 style compact will it work with their 1911 guns version for a 5 inch barrel even though mine is.. well not 5 inches?

@@BirdmanMedia_Reviews Thanks Birdman. Do you think this will be problematic for wearing on my new glock 30? I know you said your Gen 4 had wear issues you think the gen 5 avoided due to the beveled shape, but I wasn't sure if yours was already a bit worn on not prior to exposure to the holster.
In the case of a 1911, you would recommend leaving the first clip in the highest possible position and the one in the middle equal to this for your glock, or recommend leaving the first clip in the highest and the second clip in the last lower hole in view that the 1911 cable is bigger?
It is always personal preference, but what you describe does sounds as if it would aid concealment. Just make sure it isn’t at the cost of an easy draw.

I have a couple questions. Because I am considering this holster for my Sig P938. First, will this holster accommodate the Sig laser or would you even know? That’s how it works for me. They may even have it listed as an option now. You can always call them to confirm as well. Worst case, they have a 30-day return policy.
I just got mine in and I noticed (At least on mine) that the belt clips are stupid tight and damn near impossible to clip on the belt. Is it just me or is this a normal thing?
I'm not understanding the question. The entire holster is inside my pants. The clips at either end clip from the inside to the outside of the belt, so the ends are put in place by the clips and the belts compresses everything else.
@@BirdmanMedia_Reviews most IWB holster have an option for an add on “claw” the claw pushes out on the inside of your pants/belt near the butt of the gun to hold the grip closer to your body
It isn't particularly loud, but you should feel the retention lock in place. Did you adjust the setting in and out? Worst case, call Alien Gear, they are great at support.
Will a Security 9 fit this? I fit my Security 9 in 99% of Glock 19/23 holsters I use but this one doesn't have the sight cut higher. Which pushes the sec9 trigger guard just a hair below the Glock trigger guard even though they're almost the EXACT same dimensions. Could you confirm this at all so I know if I wasted 120 bucks?
Does this IWB for Aliengear bulk out and print less than the AIWB Aliengear? I have a XD9 4 in and have the appendix IWB but its so bulky and really hard to conceal it.. wondering if i should just buy the regular IWB
Great question, I have only worn it without a T-shirt probably a dozen times and didn’t really notice the holster. I wouldn’t really consider that as a true test. That’s the nice thing about the 30-day test drive.
I have carried this holster every day for 10 months and have never used an under shirt with it. never had an issue with it rubbing against my skin, but it does get a little sweaty in the summer months.
I've had mine almost since they came out, use it with a Ruger LC9s and a 5" Kimber 1911, extremely comfortable with no undershirt. As Koorite says you're gonna sweat in the summer, but that's what wearing pants gets you. And Birdman isn't kidding - the retention system is the BEST thing ever. Laying down, running, climbing, jumping, bending, NO worries at all about your gun coming out.
Hey yall, I'm 20 years old. I turn 21 in less than a month. I was gifted a Taurus G2S for Christmas. I dont have a holster and I have seen positive feedback on the aliengear shapeshift for my gun. I really want to get it bc of the diversity and seems durable. Is this a bad idea for my first holster?
I know I’m a year late but saw no one replied. I own a G2S too, and carry with the alien gear cloak tuck 3.5, I love it. I say go for it (if you haven’t already)
I don’t sweat a lot and I do usually wear an undershirt. That being said, it never creates a “hot spot” like other holsters, so I literally forget it is there. And I can leave without my gun sometimes because it just doesn’t affect me.
I swear I covered that in this review. Did you actually watch it, or are you just looking at it and what they quick answer......which is no, it isn't bulky at all. I forget it is there.
Sorry they don't make one for the Colt Mark IV Officer edition. have 3 Semi-autos that I switch between but can justify going to the ShapeShift until they have a holster shell for each one, as easy as it looks to switch between. Still waiting.
I pre ordered this hosted and used it for 3 guns and over the entire time it’s been great but they have gone through all my jeans. But I guess that’s what you get for carrying everyday
it's not 100 dollars and if i wanted to spend that much I'd get a better holster that also secures the trigger with real kydex not molded plastic and get a black arch prothesis.
I’m right handed, so the mag release button is against my body and covered. But no part of the holster is near the mag release as the entire grip is free to be grabbed. Not sure if that’s what you’re looking for.

Seriously, every single day for well over a year and nothing has given any indication it is worn or going to break. And technically it has less parts than the holster it replaced....go count them. ;)
Loving my Shapeshift for the shield. Will say it's ultra comfortable, drawing is very easy. Took about a week for it to form to my side and be apart of me through the day. One tough holster and their service was amazing. I noticed the same little marks on my gun, called and they offered and sent to me (very fast) a new shell. Which I've not used because I realized the marks were actually on the finish it was just polymer laying on top of my guns slide as it was form fitting to the gun. Could have used a bit of fine sanding at worst but it was good after 1 week. Super easy to use, strong clips too. No regrets here in the slightest.
Mine came apart first try, the loop locking insert slipped straight out the holster still connected to the belt clip. No way in hell will I recommend this dangerous abortion!

Search my channel and I actually show a caliper comparison versus the 3.0. I don't find that it wears or feels any different at all.

Keep in mind this is a product that is designed for multiple holsters, thus for the 19 may seem a little long.

Hi. Great review. Thanks for taking the time do do this. Question - newbie here. I found one from the same company that is specifically made for Walther PPQ M2 4.2 inch .40cal. I just purchased a .45 ACP but its 4.25 inches. Is that the same thing in size when it comes to guns? Meaning will I get that snug/click sound fit? Thanks :)
Foo3112 sounds like two completely different guns, so you’d need a different shell for the 45.

Looking to order this for my LC9. After so many years, have you had any issues with clips staying tight on your belt? My single piece kydex holster stretched and no longer stays tight on my belt, and fell off my belt onto the pew at church today. Luckily nobody saw it, but it has me nervous about any system that doesn't require threading the belt through the holster.
Very good review. I have a G19 and have replaced the factory sights with TruGlo sights that are slightly taller. Is there enough clearance for the sights in this holster for it to work with my setup? If not...could I safely alter (trim) the holster to make it work and not compromise the safety and use of the holster? Thanks!
I don’t know for sure, but call the team at Alien Gear, tell them you saw my review and they may be able to answer it. Worst case you can order it and you have a 30-Day test drive to see if it works or return for a full refund.

Only thing that worries me about the holster is that single point attachment. Is that durable? It seems like a pretty high stress point.

No, no scratch. It left residue on the slide a bit, but not a mark at all. And that was the version before they made an update for the Glock 5 model.

Yes, looks brand new. The residue most likely is extra CLP. It wipes off with my hand.

In the case of a 1911, you would recommend leaving the first clip in the highest possible position and the one in the middle equal to this for your glock, or recommend leaving the first clip in the highest and the second clip in the last lower hole in view that the 1911 cable is bigger?
It is always personal preference, but what you describe does sounds as if it would aid concealment. Just make sure it isn’t at the cost of an easy draw.

I have a couple questions. Because I am considering this holster for my Sig P938. First, will this holster accommodate the Sig laser or would you even know? And the other question, will this holster be comfortable for guys who have a bit of a gut? Honest questions to know if this is comfortable long term. Thanks in advance.

That’s how it works for me. They may even have it listed as an option now. You can always call them to confirm as well. Worst case, they have a 30-day return policy.
I just got mine in and I noticed (At least on mine) that the belt clips are stupid tight and damn near impossible to clip on the belt. Is it just me or is this a normal thing?
Normal and they break in, but over the year haven’t gotten too loose at all.
How does the base of the grip hug your body without the need of a claw?
I'm not understanding the question. The entire holster is inside my pants. The clips at either end clip from the inside to the outside of the belt, so the ends are put in place by the clips and the belts compresses everything else.

I run this setup. G26 Gen 3. It works great in the 4.0 IWB.

It isn't particularly loud, but you should feel the retention lock in place. Did you adjust the setting in and out? Worst case, call Alien Gear, they are great at support.

Will a Security 9 fit this? I fit my Security 9 in 99% of Glock 19/23 holsters I use but this one doesn't have the sight cut higher. Which pushes the sec9 trigger guard just a hair below the Glock trigger guard even though they're almost the EXACT same dimensions. Could you confirm this at all so I know if I wasted 120 bucks?

Does this IWB for Aliengear bulk out and print less than the AIWB Aliengear? I have a XD9 4 in and have the appendix IWB but its so bulky and really hard to conceal it.. wondering if i should just buy the regular IWB
I'm the last person to ask about Appendix. I can say this holster feels like it hold in tighter, I don't print with either if I wear them properly.
My concern is the one anchor point. Is it securely fastened from that one point?
I'm pretty sure you could hang from that anchor point. remember that there is a metal core to the flat part of the holster.

Great question, I have only worn it without a T-shirt probably a dozen times and didn’t really notice the holster. I wouldn’t really consider that as a true test. That’s the nice thing about the 30-day test drive.
I have carried this holster every day for 10 months and have never used an under shirt with it. never had an issue with it rubbing against my skin, but it does get a little sweaty in the summer months.

I've had mine almost since they came out, use it with a Ruger LC9s and a 5" Kimber 1911, extremely comfortable with no undershirt. As Koorite says you're gonna sweat in the summer, but that's what wearing pants gets you. And Birdman isn't kidding - the retention system is the BEST thing ever. Laying down, running, climbing, jumping, bending, NO worries at all about your gun coming out.

Hey yall, I'm 20 years old. I turn 21 in less than a month. I was gifted a Taurus G2S for Christmas. I dont have a holster and I have seen positive feedback on the aliengear shapeshift for my gun. I really want to get it bc of the diversity and seems durable. Is this a bad idea for my first holster?
I know I’m a year late but saw no one replied. I own a G2S too, and carry with the alien gear cloak tuck 3.5, I love it. I say go for it (if you haven’t already)

They do not have any that work with lights as of yet. So stock. Basically there isn’t a consensus as to which light would be the one to make it for.

I don’t sweat a lot and I do usually wear an undershirt. That being said, it never creates a “hot spot” like other holsters, so I literally forget it is there. And I can leave without my gun sometimes because it just doesn’t affect me.

Nope, they are different sizes. Now, the 17 holster might fit the 19.

I just tried to make the purchase in both IWS and appendix holster, they haven’t update the online option with laser or light.
Sorry they don't make one for the Colt Mark IV Officer edition. have 3 Semi-autos that I switch between but can justify going to the ShapeShift until they have a holster shell for each one, as easy as it looks to switch between. Still waiting.

it's not 100 dollars and if i wanted to spend that much I'd get a better holster that also secures the trigger with real kydex not molded plastic and get a black arch prothesis.

I’m right handed, so the mag release button is against my body and covered. But no part of the holster is near the mag release as the entire grip is free to be grabbed. Not sure if that’s what you’re looking for.

Loving my Shapeshift for the shield. Will say it's ultra comfortable, drawing is very easy. Took about a week for it to form to my side and be apart of me through the day. One tough holster and their service was amazing. I noticed the same little marks on my gun, called and they offered and sent to me (very fast) a new shell. Which I've not used because I realized the marks were actually on the finish it was just polymer laying on top of my guns slide as it was form fitting to the gun. Could have used a bit of fine sanding at worst but it was good after 1 week.
Super easy to use, strong clips too. No regrets here in the slightest.
Mine came apart first try, the loop locking insert slipped straight out the holster still connected to the belt clip. No way in hell will I recommend this dangerous abortion!
