I'm Minnesotan and I laughed at it all, but I laughed the most at "You think we eat Lutefisk? .. Everyday!" and "It's the middle of April, it's beautiful out, like -15"
You know that time right after the snow melts and everything is all brown and ugly and muddy? That makes winter, summer, and fall the most beautiful seasons in Minnesota. There are no beautiful springs.
January? Not that cold? I've always considered January the coldest, and I've lived in MN my whole life. I'm central, btw. Right smack dab in the middle of Minnesota. (How about that -50 weather huh)
Funfact, we change the "T's" in the middle of the word to "D's" (most words, but not all). Minnesota = Minnesoda, British = Bridish, and Lutefisk = Ludefisk.
That's true cause I used to live their thinking about moving back now but one summer it got up to 104° degrees I couldn't even go to the park cause the sand there burned the shit out of me
He was really exaggerating it, but I appreciate it! I've said before that nobody would ever like the Minnesota accent. you proved me wrong! And yes, I think loving Aussie accents is nearly universal in the US. (I know there are different accents, though probably few of us could tell the difference.)
The only thing missing in your accent is "you betcha'". Why the hell does everything think Minnesotans all say "you betcha'"? I've only lived here 5-6 years and i've maybe heard that twice.
When I think of Minnesota I think of the books and films about the family from Sweden who immigrated to America, They lived in Minnesota. It was a tragic story.
Bro I'm a Minnesotan and I can say that everything he says is 100% TRUE and yes that's how everyone dresses I'm mean like who where's pants anymore right
Hello, Lutfisk eats Swedes at Christmas, an old tradition from when we were poor and needed to save resources throughout the year. The weather looks like a normal spring day, perfect for some sunbathing and a fire to grill sausages. Lovely accent you have, sounds like when I try to speak English :-)
The Halloween part cracked me up. I remember my mom bringing us trick or treating during the big snow storm in 91. Maybe it's only rural northern Minnesotans where all of these stereotypes are true.
it has snow, it also has the largest granite, deposit in the usa, and largest iron ore producer in usa, largest mall in usa, largest copper deposit in the world, over 15,000 lakes but 5,000 were man made so thats why we say 10,000, the first successful heart transplant ever was in mayo clinic in minnesota, we are supposedly nice people which i dont know really know how other people aren't nice in other states probably because i usually focus on the good things they say and not pay attention to the rude things, and more
I read there are many Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish Americans living inside the state of Minnesota and I'd like to ask can it be seen there? Can the Scandinavian influence be seen in Minnesota? Are there still Scandinavian communities? I'm asking because I live in Finland.
Very cute. I just got back from my first visit ever to Minnesota (Minneapolis and Warroad), and I loved it. I don't mind the cold, and the flat horizons studded with a million shallow lakes are quite beautiful. And I LOVE the accent!! :)
I was one of those kids who showed up to school in shorts. We had recess in negative degree weather and I was showing up in shorts😂 moved to Kansas and I’ve got a T-shirt and shorts while everyone is gettin out those heavy winter coats over sweaters over a long sleeve shirt😂
Is that northern MN? Because we don't get as much snow at the southern end. I've had several people call Minnesota "Minnesnowta". Yeah, we get snow. Lots of snow, especially the more north you go. April and May around here are those times where the weather doesn't know what it wants to do. And then suddenly we have about the closest we can get to summer. We do sometimes get 90°F days. I personally don't have an accent. I have asked people if I have one, which they said no.
@The hotdish one. I love hotdish, my entire family loves hotdish, we have hotdish for every get together on my uncle's farm because it's delicious(Staying true to the Minnesotan stereotypes xD)
Listen to how you say "water", "roof" and "bag" just to name a few. You're probably pronouncing water like wader, roof like ruff, and bag like b-ay-g. These are just some examples of a Minnesotan accent. Also as a fellow Minnesotan, I can attest to people not talking like this in the city, but further north the accents get heavier and heavier.
As a Minnesotan i can say the warmest it's been is like super warm its like -20 people say it is really cold but ill be wearing my winter shorts when their in snow ants what even are snow pants i don't know how they weren't sweating in pants
There are many Minnesotans that will remember the Halloween Blizzard of 1991. Kids started out going door to door in the pouring rain, but by 7pm it was snowing and the temps began to fall. When it was all over, there was a whopping 28.4" of snow on the ground that quickly froze.
OMG, what a doozy. My son at the time was 2 1/2. After the storm, I was snowed in for two days (as was everyone). I needed to get to the grocery store since I was out of things he needed. I was in an apartment so I didn't own a shovel. I spent two hours "shovelling" my car out using a dust pan. I have multiple stories from that storm, but that's the one that popped into my head.
Ah, that’s a good one! You betcha! 🤪 here in north central Ohio, I see folks going to the store in shorts when the temp gets in the mid 30’s and the suns out! You roll down the car window to get some fresh air!
I live in Brazil and used to live in MN. Much better MN winter than south Brazil summers at 120 degrees fahrenheit and cold humid winters with no heating at all.
a story from a minnesotan- so it was around the end of april, almost may, and most of the snow has combined with dirt to make snirt(snow-dirt). so i’m going to bed thinking “man, it’s gonna be like 50 degrees(Fahrenheit) imma wear my my hoodie and jeans (because i’ll wear it even if it’s 100 degree out or -30 degrees out) or maybe my shorts and a t-shirt. i wake up and look out my window and see... well i don’t all i see is a big pile of good ol’ snow, like the turn on screen from your phone, and i’m just like “welp nevermind”
Im from minnesota and here is my opinion: 1) What is Lutefisk 2) Never to cold to go trick or Treating 3) No accent 4) I dont know how... 5) I love Hotdish 6) Ok maybe... 7) True 8) Nope Wrong 9) Thats canda... XD 10) Nope done once 11) xDDDD 12) Wait... No 12....
I am a native northern Ohioan who lived in northern Minnesota and North Dakota for about 10 years. I moved to the tropical south (Kentucky). The folks here panic over an inch of snow. What tiny bits of winter that happen cause major messes because people don’t know how to handle it while I treat it like a spring day in St. Paul.
My LTR is from Sweden. He laughed because people in Minnesota have a stronger Swedish accent than people from Sweden who learn English starting in Kindergarten. Learning English is mandatory in Sweden
hahaha! i grew up in MN. and i can always tell I'm there when i go to visit and people are wearing shorts when its 30 degrees. haha! This is a fun video! Thank you!
You are culturally close to Swedes. Even to the point where you have no prestige and can joke about it. You prefer personal distance and are more humble than a general American. Nice to see! I live in Minnesota you just made us sound worse than they think we do and once you started to make fun of our accent after you just started talkng in then accent the rest of the video
I've got a nice pair of winter shorts myself. They go great with my favorite winter hoodie, you know. It's even better when you see someone with the unzipped down parka. Happens.
you know you're from Minnesota when your snowmobile has more miles then your car!
True, and when your winter jacket gets used more hen your t shirts
poney luva
Nah, I wear shorts and a t-shirt is sub zero temps. BTW, I'm from MN.

Dani Marie How is big of a star is Jessica Diggins there? She is the only famous minnesoten I know about. She is on tv like every weekend.
Hot dish is awesome!!!!!!
I'm Minnesotan and I laughed at it all, but I laughed the most at "You think we eat Lutefisk? .. Everyday!" and "It's the middle of April, it's beautiful out, like -15"
that's not half bad
You know that time right after the snow melts and everything is all brown and ugly and muddy? That makes winter, summer, and fall the most beautiful seasons in Minnesota. There are no beautiful springs.
I thought it was hillarious XD
Hey now, we get about a week when the trees all bloom and it is a beautiful 50 degrees out. Then we get that last foot of snowfall.
5 degrees is picnic weather. I get my shorts out for any thing above -10
I live in MN, and you have the strongest Minnesotan accent that I ever heard!
I would love it if all of us just started talking like that.
That's so true
It almost sounds Canadian, I'm a Minnesotan too and his accent is strong!

The shorts thing is so real, I'm French and went in MN in January (the crazy cold period) I was like WTF is wrong with you people? haha
January is not very cold in Minnesota Xd
Yeah like mid December is coldest
January? Not that cold? I've always considered January the coldest, and I've lived in MN my whole life. I'm central, btw. Right smack dab in the middle of Minnesota.
(How about that -50 weather huh)
Dude get over it you need to stop staying inside so much and go in the cold for once in your life
It’s colder in December not really January in January it’s not bad
Funfact, we change the "T's" in the middle of the word to "D's" (most words, but not all). Minnesota = Minnesoda, British = Bridish, and Lutefisk = Ludefisk.
Yeah that is pretty true
Strange that I don't
I'm glad I dont. I've had enough with Minnesota stereotypes..

It easily reaches 95+ degrees during the summer!
Dude, I've lived here all my life... 95 is probably the record

So true me and my buds do it to have fun
A lot of us, from tiny towns, do sound like this. Lmfao! Including me. When I moved to wisconsin, even they heard the accent. Lol
I'm Aussie but honestly the really strong Minnesota accent is one of my favourite things ever, its so cute!
And we love the Aussie accent! 😍
