A School Shooting Left 10 People Dead. Here’s Why You Probably Never Heard About It | Underreported

  • “I always thought, you know, we’re pretty safe,” recalled Grace John, a senior at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas.
    On May 18, 2018, Grace’s sense of safety was shattered when a gunman opened fire and murdered ten people in her school. Over a dozen others were wounded.
    The Santa Fe high school shooting was the second-deadliest school shooting in the U.S. It occurred just over three months after Parkland, where a 19-year-old man allegedly gunned down students and staff, murdering 17 students and teachers.
    The Parkland students have been credited for changing the gun debate. Students such as David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez took on the National Rifle Association, launched the #NeverAgain movement, and organized rallies and walkouts across the country.
    Survivors of the Santa Fe high school shooting are also calling for change. But because many of them still support the Second Amendment, the media wasn’t interested in their story, and what they think needs to be done.
    So The Daily Signal traveled to Santa Fe to talk with students like Grace and hear what the media is ignoring.
