  • Great van. Was visiting a family friend yesterday and I was able to record a video of their Honda van. I seriously like this van and the quality is just superb for it's age. It's hardly being driven (it only has 35k + kms on the odometer), hence the perfect bodywork and interior. This car is also known as the 2nd-gen Honda Odyssey for the North American market.

These things were ahead of their time. even with the most upscale trim (The EX) you won’t have half of the options in this one!!! We have a 2001 Honda Odyssey LX USA and it’s still a breeze

My mom owns one of these vans, a USDM model. One funny thing I noticed is that on North American models, that shelf for the lighter, ashtray, and coin tray contains a pair of jumbo-size cupholders in their place, in addition to the ones on the tray between the seats. I guess the need for jumbo-size soft drinks is a uniquely North American one. Only 35372 km...that's remarkable for a car of its age. It has been kept up well.

@godanli Nicely said. You can't go wrong with Hondas!
The power-folding mirrors function is more for tight parking lots, small roads that are common is Europe/Asia. I guess less cars have it in the US, cause US parking lots are bigger and the roads are wider?

The name of this van was probably decided in 5 seconds or less over the phone between a Honda Canada guy at the factory that makes the vans and a Honda Japan guy in corporate.
Honda Canada guy: "What will this van be competing with in Japan again?"
Honda Japan guy: "Toyota Alphard, Mitsubishi Delica, *Nissan Elgrand*, etc."
Honda Canada guy: "Elgrand… so a Spanish word for 'the' and something meaning '(whatever these words synonymously mean)'… I like it! We'll call it the *Lagreat*!
Honda Japan guy: "But wouldn't Nissan…"
    _Honda Canada guy hangs up_
And they never got in trouble for it.

I would buy one of the commonly-available LHD odyssey over here in north america and then try to get this RHD setup to convert it… this is identical to a loaded odyssey except it's RHD. You said somewhere this was made in Canada, but starting from 2002 they made them in china.

O god this is a Honda Odyssey RHD

@mosamania123 it sounds like a seat belt warning. It is also the same buzzer that sounds when one of the sliding doors hasn't closed properly.

Canadian and US parking lots are huge
you can open the doors to full length and still have extra space between the cars 95% of the time

Nope. This one was actually made in Canada.
