Oh my old friend Roland Seifert on the podium. I had the pleasure of singing with him in over 50 performances at the Musikalische Komödie in Leipzig. The master of Operetta in Germany. I have also been a great fan of my tenor colleague Jerry Hadley. I was at a rehearsal the day the horrible news of his tragic suicide was made public. I listen to his recordings often on TH-cam. One of America's greatest talents. Thanks, Jerry!
Thank you for putting this up. My first time hearing Jerry Hadley sing this lieder or aria. He was the greatest. I really mean that, too. Someone who kept up the best tradition in proper singing. From the golden years.
Yes, tragically he shot himself in the head and was on life-support for a while, until it was decided that there was no hope of any recovery. A truly very sad loss.
No it didn’t. My Opera coach new jerry Hadley very well he was his main accompanist for a lot of stuff. From what he told me is jerry was always drinking and he had a terrible relationship problems. Nothing to do with the business. Maybe. But we will never know the actual reason. Jacob Soulliere
It was a combination of personal problems and the business (I believe). His technique did deteriorate up to 2003. Just listen to his 2003 Tosca. I heard he was working with David Jones in the mid 90’s, and that started to deteriorate his voice. This is, still, just hearsay. It’s all very sad.
Che peccato, che tragedia perdere un Artista così meraviglioso!
I loved Jerry..what a great Tenor...tragic we lost him too soon RIP 🙏

Wonderful
Bravo, I always love Jerry's singing,
ER war ein großer Künstler, nicht nur eine Stimme, er wusste was er sang, irgendwas passierte am Ende mit seiner Stimme...
One of the greatest versions. Behind only Tauber imo
Tauber's version is so beautiful as well, yes!
Molto bravo
Thanks!
The business killed him.
Basically.

Jacob Soulliere
depression is quite common, not really something that can make sense of from normal reasoning... it is everywhere.
@@Jacob.Soulliere Very complicated relationships begun in certain NY bars, from what I hear.

I thought he killed himself?
The Bride of Sevenless he did, or attempted to back in 2007, and died in hospital.
