- Insomniac has been pooping out Spider-Man games for years now and I'm sick and tired of pretending they're good. so today join me as I outline two of the biggest faults i see in the game and how they may be able to fix it....if they care

I agree with your points but also the happy chemicals in my brain while I swing and beat up criminals says otherwise, I'm a simple man and I'm just happy we have something coming out still, meaning improvements will still be coming. I'm just super excited for the future of spiderman. Also when is someone gonna release a good FULL spiderman vr experience

i agree with some of your points but i personally enjoyed the combat. i get that a lot of it was just simply pressing square, but it left a lot of room for more advanced players to use their creativity. i had a lot of fun experimenting with different throws and launches, and especially with the gadgets you could use. for example, the impact webs and suspension matrix were very fun. i also think the suit mods left a lot of choice and creativity for the player. i myself used the equalizer mod, which defeated enemies in one hit at the cost of the player also going down in one hit, and also used electricity mods and whatnot. i also thought the later enemies left for a much bigger challenge, especially on ultimate difficultly. the demons and sable soldiers had a lot of attacks to learn and adjust to. every fight felt different depending on your place in the story. i also thought the inclusion of lesser known characters like tombstone, taskmaster, screwball, hammerhead and especially mr. nobody were refreshing, who had an entire fledged out story that the player could see progress with the story, and i liked some new takes with the characters, especially doc ock, who in this story manipulated peter for his plan. storystreet did a video on the games story which i really enjoyed. i will admit that other than the movies and shows, i haven’t had much experience with the games, so i might be able to see where you’re coming from. great video!

Have you played web of shadows because the combat is good in that game and how you wanted it to be I kinda understand if you're just talking about insomniac and not web of shadows or marvel vs capcom

to be fair even if they're borrowing concepts from the old gamed, they're improving on them a lot more because some of those games were very misguided. also i do see more variety and creativity with the wing suits and the expanded move sets they showed off. as far as og spider-man ps4 it makes sense the boss list was a little more tame bc they had to lay the groundwork but miles morales was deff lacking on villains. Also Kraven is gonna be sick ik he was in tasm 2 but that game was CHEEKS. also personally i thought the story was great but overall fair criticisms

The web strike in these games are dookie and don't offer the variety that Web of Shadows web strike had
Swinging whilst looking cool and having webs attach to buildings basically cheats for the player and falls apart when you try to do anything outside it
If it's referring to story, I may agree but gameplay wise whilst there's a lot of stuff Insomniac does better than old games, there's several stuff they do worse
@@confessioncritic I will admit though depending on the story and villains of this game it might be like a remaster of web of shadows, but it seems like the next game is gonna cover the multiverse also I'm going to suggest playing shattered dimensions Deadpool was fire, and he's never been in any other game as far as I know

My brother in Christ, I'm not sure I agree with everything, but making any game more like another DMC to enjoy I am more than down with.

I don't agree with everything, but i do admit i hated boss fights in all of the games. but i didnt mind smaller fights like the crimes and whatnot, the things that made these games fun for me was the fact i could just do that. just going and beating up bad guys and them not having a chance just cause im fucking spiderman and im just like that fr, and also im not mad at miles morales gameplay because it's more of like a prelude to that we see in spider-man 2 (just a 60$ spider-man 2 demo honestly) but otherwise great vid!
fair enough, i know that for some that aspect of the title makes you feel more like Spider-Man and helps immersion, wish it was the case for me 🥺

So far as they villains is concerned, you have to have classic spider man villains in the game that people know. They did a decent job with the villian roster. In terms of game play they could've switched up a bit more and less Qte's or none at all. So far as the gadgets aswell, they should include them into the game with more purpose, and to be innovative besides using them in combat be using them to save civillians aswell. My biggest thing doing more herioc things like in Ultimate spider man and Spiderman 3 without to many Qte's, and cinematics so you feel like you accomplished something, instead of the mission feeling so programmed. I feel like the issue with that is because they want it to look cinematic, if they could change the camera angles and slow things as the action is being done, then I think it would fix that.
i understand that concept when it comes to Villains, you gotta have the classic ones, but with so many to choose from (especially with the non cannon abilities of a games storyline) i would like to see more variation, at least between tittles. and i agree QTE’s are a thing off the past and should only be used as a nuance in select situations, it’s 2023 not 2010 Heavy Rain 😂

I do understand a few things you said but sometimes you said things that didnt make any sense, like mentioning the lizard when he isnt in the new game at all and how there arent any peter segments with dialogue because there are at least 5 different times i can remember you do that in the game, and yes those parts werent as fun as youd like but at least the new gen games at least try and also the story for the spiderman ps4 game had the most in depth spiderman story ive seen in years with the doc ock story and how peter and his relationship starts to crumble as he mentally trys to justify fighting someone he cares about. And also the backstory of Lee and how he plays into the story. Idk thats just my opinion you dont have to agree but i feel like there were a lot of points missed too. And im not saying the spiderman games are the goat, but they definitely are in my top 10 of story based games. And also God of War most of the time is the same combat with a little different parry times and different weapons that use the same buttons to make them work smh

For one, the walk around segments just felt like that, walking sims to get a story point across efficiently, but what i’m looking for is more of a character building dialogue heavy segment that helps me really sink into the shoes of Peter. as for the story i see you stand piint and the strength of the story is for the most party subjective so i can see where you coming from there, but as far as gameplay goes in regards to the story, i would love to see inspo taken from GOW in the sense that the AI meshed well with you kit, certain enemies had to be handled specific ways and upgrades greatly connected to the flow of gameplay (or at least more so than Spider Man) i want to see the formula that they’ve been using since back when DC was releasing Arkham games, upgraded in a unique and challenging way. I can't agree with you that some of the Spider-Man stories aren't really all that great but Marvel Spider-Man PS4 minutes to make the stories a lot more better for other people's when I think the story in that game is honestly really good for what they were trying to do considering that some other Spider-Man stories aren't really great they somehow land mediocre or just downright bad I hope that Marvel Spider-Man suit is able to make a much more better story than Spider-Man PS4 with the new casting of characters and villains to fight against I can't wait to see craven and how he handles everything else and I can't wait to fight Venom or see what the story of Venom is going to bring😊😊

@@confessioncritic ye. just look at a "polished" Bethesda games like Skyrim (or the dogshit that is fallout 3). I've seen more bugs in the first hour of those games than all of the spiderman games combined. but even forgetting the bugs, what does Bethesda have to their name. fallout 3 was objectively bad, fallout 4 was mediocre when compared to other fallout games (but a good game in my opinion) , fallout 76 was ,well, fallout 76 and the elder scrolls series hasn't seen a new title in an actual decade since they keep making slightly better looking version of Skyrim with even more bugs every version. Bethesda was never that great in the first place and spiderman 2 definitely has a good chance of beating starfield for the GOTY. Hell, ill do you one better. What does starfield have that no mans sky current edition doesn't (other than writing cuz I have no idea how the no mans sky writing is.)

I mean I don’t really get the villains point the OG villains like Scorpion, Rhino, Kingpin etc have been there in the comics since the 60’s and been in every cartoon, movie or game since their iconic for spider man fans of course they were gonna have them.
Now as for a new villain Phin was mixed her motives for destroying the city was a bit crazy as the city had nothing to do with her problem it would’ve made more sense if she had tried to destroy the company Roxxon which she was trying to do at first but then it devolved into the entire city???
I don’t know and her getting all pissed at Miles after they took down Rhino was out of nowhere as I was confused on why she was blaming him for getting kidnapped and something else and then her finally realizing she F’ed up after Miles tried to tell her that from the get go at the end she just automatically changed her mind on her plan after the entire game she was adamant on doing the whole thing and Miles kept telling her the reactor was dangerous she still did it anyway and then after seeing surprise surprise it was devastating like Miles said she was all dumbfounded and I’m like yeah he fu*king told you no need to change your mind now this is what you wanted.
THATS WHAT IM SAYING. when the motives don’t connect its hard to be fully invested. idk that villain in particular was annoying
@@confessioncritic Like I’m not expecting Shakespeare writing I just need a classic Spider Man story and I’m all good him having struggles and the villain being threading I don’t know I guess I’m a little old school I find nowadays everything is trying way too hard to cinematic or it’s trying to top something else by trying to be this grand epic story with all this drama and everything else and that was the problem with Tinkerer or Phin,
See Doc Ock plan was simple he wanted to ruin Osborn, so he enlisted help from the other villains they help him destroy Osborn their free to do whatever they want in the city which they did they had the whole city on lock down and showed the kind of stuff he was creating with the whole Devil breath stuff exposing his corporation not to mention the arms as classic spider man fans know always make him go insane and they do the thinking for him, there we go Doc Ock is the villain that we always know him as, he got screwed over by Osborn but that’s it nothing over dramatic or complicated.
With Phin/Tinkerer they were trying to do too much with her give her a sad backstory then she has conflicting motives that could’ve worked if she just wasn’t a confusing character like they wanted to make her a villain but then they didn’t and gave her a sad attempt at a redemption there are ways to do a redemption but this ain’t one of them where she kept flip flopping like light switch like make up your mind one second she’s on Miles side then the next she’s all I hate you and I’m going to destroy the city, hell at least Doc Ock was consistent.
But I mean that’s how some irl women be reacting and acting off emotions.
Right just confusing. not to mention, AS SOON as we knew who the Tinkerer was my eyes rolled because i just KNEW they were going to shoot for redemption. when you write your villains like that the story beats become so predictable which feeds into the repetitive nature of the rest of the game.

I don’t exactly remember but I’m sure she said (you lied to me before so why should I believe you now) and I’m like What! Miles literally told her his biggest secret that he’s the new Spider Man running around and I don’t for the life of me remember Miles ever telling her a lie or keeping any other secrets away from her so where did that come from, like she was really out of it and then why would he lie about something destroying the city possibly killing then as well and they both saw the sh*t when they got caught and were trying to escape the facility lol.
I was more interested than angry when I watched this video and I love the insomniac games but I do agree with your points of fighting more unique villains

I respect your opinion and I can agree with most of what you said the miles morales Spider-Man didn't feel different other than the venom moves and invisibility those things did add in the playability I have 100% both games cause I can't truly judge a game without finishing it I feel like I didn't even give it a shot the combat get repetitive really quick and it get boring fast I hope they do something different with the new game

Maybe people think it is very good because there just aren’t many superhero game compared to the 2000’s and if there is its for young kids. Spider-Man was a breathe of fresh air compared to other superhero games

This is a great video and I see your point, but you're comparing Spider-Man to God of War. A game that has been around since I was a child and had their groundwork for the game since I think PS1. Insomniac Spider-Man has only been around since 2018. They said that Miles Morales was more of a test to see the existent of what they can do with Spider-Man, which shows with Spider-Man 2. Also to show off Miles Morales. As for the combat system. There's only so much you can do with a third-person beat them up game. For example God of War is also square square triangle square X Circle with a little bit of the triggers involved. I think the thing we should be asking insomniac to do is to add more varieties of special moves. That's what God of War did and you were able to change out the special moves that you used, otherwise you would be doing the same punching and kicking and smashing over and over again. Without the little special moves that he does, it would make the game boring. Plus I think they are listening for example when miles was doing three different special type moves the electricity slam from above that he shot down, the hadouken electricity move and then the chain electricity at the end of his combo. Those are all new and they've never done anything like that before. I believe that this was a good video and your point is definitely valid I think we should wait until Spider-Man 2 comes out to see if they improved on the ground work that they set with Spider-Man 1 on PS4. Cuz I saw the progression with Miles Morales, even The Swinging was better in his game. (Sorry for the little rant 😅 ) Have a good rest of your day sir.
The combat for God of War is not better than Spider-man in its Fundamentals, that is exactly why i compare the two because fundamentally they are the same, however the specials you mention aren’t just creative additions to a system that is the same but rather are incredibly unique abilities that when upgrades even turn into newer abilities. not to mention the amount of specials they have are many. the skill upgrading is so depth-y and detailed that it overall helps it feel more smooth than repetitive, despite having common go-to combos

@@confessioncritic True, but judging from what the trailer shows, it seems that SM2 might have something similar. Judging by how Miles used 3 different special moves without using the scroll wheel from the first game,(The one that helped you choose gadgets) which is a good sign. There is the possibility that the special systems may be just as good as GOW Ragnarök. I'm just saying don't count SM2 out yet, just because of how the last game went. Cause it was Insomniacs first time tackling that, but now that they have experience plus they listen to the community as best they can. I think it will shock people. So let's not be negative just yet. Lastly, SM1 and Miles came out with the ps4 in mind. Now SM2 is only on PS5 so they can do a lot more now according to the devs. Just like how we got more worlds in Ragnarök.
yeah my hopes are still at least a little held out for the next tittle, really hoping they try something that challenges them as a company.

Okay hear me out for a sec. I do agree with some of the points here. They both have there issues. But I'd imagine from Insomniacs perspective, they're doing a phenomenal job. If they make games like this and are received well and make a LOT of money... that's gonna tell them that its what people like and want from them. I personally love the combat as you have choices in how you approach. You can stealth the whole thing or jump straight in. You have a plethera of gadgets at your disposal do destroy them with. I understand it can be very repetitive but heres the thing. This is NOT a multiplayer game. It was never intended to last this long. To hear complaints that the game wasn't designed to keep you entertained 5 YEARS after the original release is insane. The exception being miles ig. But even then the venom mechanic made his combat a lot more flashy and fun to use. Plus those finishers are just *mwah I get your gripes on the same villians over and over again. Cant argue with you there. But everything else about the game being boring and bland after you've played spiderman year after year just kinda sounds like you're getting burnt out. If they're really that bad, dont buy them. If you purchase the games and dlc, regardless of it you like them or not, you're just tellin them you're willing to pay for what they put out. Everyone has a right to their own opinion and I respect you for putting yours out. But I'm gonna have to dissagree with ya on this one. Respectfully of course. 😎
Thanks for watching, i see your point kind of but at the same time a tittle does not need to be a multiplayer release in order to provide variety. what i’m rly saying is; Gadget implementations and decision between stealth and high octane is the grass roots of what i come to expect from the games this far into the series, considering games as old as Arkham Asylum have been doing this. meanwhile (hate to sound like a broken record) God of War has segments where you play as different characters with extremely different combat kits, intriguing puzzles, and challenging battle segments that ‘require’ an extensive understanding of what tools you need to use etc.

The variety in the game is all a very false front as i mentioned. it felt pander-y and only existed in the game as caveats of what was really the same gameplay loop. look at God of War with the same general game structure but more intriguing gameplay
